    3Connect the other end of the cable to the USB 
    connector on the printer.
    Note: 
    Disconnect the USB cable from the viewer when not 
    operating with a computer or printer.

    Note: 
    If the photo you selected is not supported by the viewer, 
    see “Printing Multiple Photos” on page 67 to print your 
    photos.You see the Cropping setting menu. Continue with the 
    steps on page 63 to crop your photo.
    Retouching a PhotoYou can retouch a photo before printing without modifying 
    the original. Use one of the adjustment presets or adjust 
    individual settings as necessary.
    1Do one of the following:
    ❍
    Select one of the adjustment presets. After a 
    moment, you see the results of the retouching 
    effects. If you are satisfied with the results, press 
    OK
    .
    Continue with step 5.
    ❍

     to adjust individual 
    settings, then press

    2Select the settings you want to adjust using the 4-way 
    ring, then press

    results of the retouching effects.
    3When you’re finished adjusting the settings, highlight OK
     and press

     to return to the Retouch Additions

    To set the Retouch Additions settings to their original 
    values, select Return to Default, then press 
    OK
    .
    4When you’re finished adjusting settings, select 
    Preview

    5Do one of the following:

    To save your changes, select

    To make additional adjustments to the image, select Additional Adjustments

    The retouched photo is automatically saved in a folder 
    that is automatically created in the My Photos > PRINT 
    folder on the viewer. The folder is named according to 
    the date and the date format you selected, for example, 
    03292008M.001
    .
    When you’re finished retouching your photo, you see the 
    Cropping setting menu. Continue with the steps in the next 
    section to crop your photo.
    Cropping a Photo1Select one of the following cropping methods using the 
    4-way ring or jog dial, then press 
    OK

     to select a 1:1, 3:2, or 4:3 aspect ratio
    ❍
    Free Aspect
     to manually adjust the aspect ratio
    ❍
    No Cropping
     to continue without cropping your 
    image. Continue with the steps on page 65 to select 
    print layout settings.

    2Crop your image using the following buttons:❍
    Use the 
    + (plus) and 
    – (minus) buttons to enlarge 
    and reduce the cropping area.

    Use the jog dial to make fine adjustments to the 
    crop area. To make vertical adjustments, press up or 
    down on the 4-way ring, then rotate the jog dial. To 
    make horizontal adjustments, press left or right on 
    the 4-way ring, then rotate the jog dial.
    ❍
    Fixed Aspect
    : Use the 4-way ring to move the 
    cropping indicator. To rotate the crop area, press the 
    Display
     button.
    ❍
    Free Aspect
    : Use the 4-way ring to adjust the top 
    and left edges of crop area, then press the   button 
    to adjust the bottom and right edges of the crop 
    area.
    Note: 
    While cropping a photo, press the Menu button to adjust 
    the grid display, change the crop area aspect ratio, adjust 
    the horizontal angle of the photo, or reset the crop area.
    3When you’re finished adjusting the cropping area, press 
    OK
     and do one of the following:

    To crop the image, select

    To make adjustments to the crop area, select Additional Adjustments
    , then repeat step 2.
    The cropped photo is automatically saved in a folder 
    that is automatically created in the My Photos > PRINT 
    folder on the viewer. The folder is named according to 
    the date and the date format you selected, for example, 
    03292008M.001

    When you’re finished cropping your photo, you see the 
    Select Print Layout Size menu. Continue with the steps on 
    below to select layout settings.

    Selecting Layout Settings1Select the paper size that you are printing on using the 
    4-way ring or jog dial, then press 
    OK
    .
    You see a preview of your print layout:
    2Use the following buttons to adjust the print layout:
    ❍
    Use the 
    + (plus) or 
    – (minus) buttons to enlarge and 
    reduce your photo to fit the paper.
    ❍
    Use the 4-way ring to move the image on the page.
    ❍
    Use the jog dial to make fine adjustments to the 
    photo position. To make vertical adjustments, press 
    up or down on the 4-way ring, then rotate the jog 
    dial. To make horizontal adjustments, press left or 
    right on the 4-way ring, then rotate the jog dial.3To adjust the background color, frame, and watermark 
    settings, press the

     button and select settings as 
    necessary.
    Note: 
    Before you can add a watermark to your printed images, 
    you need to create a watermark as described on page 68.
    4When you’re finished adjusting the print layout, press 
    OK
     and do one of the following:

    To save the print layout, select

    To make adjustments to the print layout, select Additional Adjustments
    , then repeat steps 2 to 3.
    The photo with the print layout settings is 
    automatically saved in a folder that is automatically 
    created in the My Photos > PRINT folder on the 
    viewer. The folder is named according to the date and 
    the date format you selected, for example, 
    03292008M.001
    .
    5If you would like to save the layout as a template for 
    creating similar photos, select 
    Yes
     when you see the 
    confirmation message. Name the template, select 
    Done

    Printing Your PhotosMake sure the AC adapter is connected to the viewer before 
    you print. If the viewer can’t find the printer, make sure the 
    printer is turned on and has paper and ink, then select Check Printer Connection
     to continue.
    1On the printer confirmation screen, use the 4-way ring 
    to change the following settings:
    2When you have finished selecting settings, select

    Making Copies of a PrintYou can quickly make copies of a print that you previously 
    retouched, cropped, and selected layout settings for.

    3Select the photo you want to print using the 4-way ring,

    Setting Description
    Number of 
    PrintsSet the number of prints.
    Print Date Print the date when the photo was taken. If 
    the photo does not include date 
    information, the printing date is added.
    Paper size Choose the paper size loaded in the printer. 
    Paper kind Choose type of paper loaded in the printer.
    Print Mode Choose Photo, High speed, or Best Photo.
    Color 
    EnhanceAutomatically adjusts the photo when it’s 
    printed (not available for all types of image

    Printing Multiple PhotosYou can print multiple photos without retouching or 
    cropping.
    1Select 
    Print Wizard
     on the Home screen using the 
    4-way ring or jog dial, then press 
    OK

    2Select 
    Print Original Photo

    3Select the folder that contains the images you want to 
    print, then press 
    OK
    .
    4Select the photos you want to print using the 4-way 
    ring, then select the number of copies you want to print 
    using the

    – (minus) buttons.
    5When you’re finished selecting photos, press

    6Select a print layout setting using the 4-way ring, then 
    press

    .7Follow the steps in “Printing Your Photos” on page 66 
    to finish printing your photos.
    Printing a Contact SheetYou can print a contact sheet containing small versions of 
    the photos on the viewer.
    1Select 
    Print Wizard
     on the Home screen using the 
    4-way ring or jog dial, then press

    Print Contact Sheet

    3Select the type of contact sheet you want to print, then

    The selected items are displayed with red   check

    To select all files, press Menu and choose Select All JPEG 
    Files, Select All RAW Files, or Select All Files, then 
    press

    6When you’re finished selecting photos, press

    7Follow the steps in “Printing Your Photos” on page 66 
    to finish printing your photos.
    Creating a WatermarkYou can add a copyright watermark to your images when 
    printing them from the viewer. You can store up to three 
    text or graphic watermarks.Creating a Watermark with Text1Select

    Using an Image as a WatermarkNote: 
    You can only assign PNG format images created in Adobe 
    Photoshop. The images must be no larger than 720 × 480 pixels 
    and less than 10MB in size.1Copy your image file to the viewer’s Photos folder.
    2Select the image file on the viewer, then press 
    OK
    .
    3When the confirmation message appears, select Yes

    Chapter 7Customizing SettingsYou can change settings for displaying images, copying files, 
    controlling the viewer’s sounds, and other functions.
    On the Home screen, select 
    Settings
     and press

    this screen:
    Use the 4-way ring or jog dial to select and change any of 
    the settings described in this chapter. 
    Device InformationUse the following options to check the firmware version of 
    the viewer, the available hard drive space, and to set a 
    password for private folders:❍
    Firmware Version
     to display the viewer’s firmware 
    version.
    ❍
    Hard Drive Capacity
     to display the available space on 
    the viewer’s hard drive and also on any memory cards 
    that are loaded in the viewer. The total file size is also 
    given for all files in the Backup, My Photos, My Videos, 
    and My Music folders.
    ❍
    Set Password
     to set a password for private folders. The 
    default password is 
    0000
