    Top tray of the 
    machine is full of 
    paper.– Remove paper from the top tray, and 
    press [Continue] to resume the job.—
    Warning low memory.– Further scanning cannot be 
    performed due to insufficient memory.

    Clearing Paper Jams
    If a paper jam 
    occurs, the touch 
    panel will display 
    Paper misfeed and 
    the machine will 
    stop. Refer to these 
    procedures to 
    remove the jammed 
    paper.
    Jam Location Indicators
    If a paper jam occurs, the location  of the jam will be displayed as the 
    following figure with a letter corresponding to the affected component in the 
    machine. Clearing instructi ons will also be displayed.

    After you remove the jam, the machine will warm up again and the error 
    message will be cleared. The machine resumes with the page which jam 
    has occurred.
    Precautions with Paper Jams
    • Do not reuse jammed papers.
    • If the paper tears during removal, be sure to remove any loose scraps 
    of paper from inside the machine. Scraps of paper left in the machine 
    could cause subsequent jamming.
    • Discard paper that has jammed in the optional document finisher. A 
    page affected by a paper jam will be printed again.
    WARNING: High voltage is present in the charger section. Take 
    sufficient care when working in this area, as there is a danger of electrical 
    shock.
    CAUTION: The fixing unit is extremely hot. Take sufficient care when 
    working in this area, as there is a danger of getting burned.
    Cassette 1
    Follow the steps below to clear paper jams in cassette 1.

    4Remove the jammed paper.
    If the paper tears, remove 
    every loose scrap from inside 
    the machine.
    5Push cassette 1 back in place securely.
    6Press the specified position to 
    close left cover 1.

    Cassette 2
    Follow the steps below to clear paper jams in cassette 2.
    1Open left cover 2.
    2Remove the jammed paper.
    3Pull out cassette 2.
    4Remove the jammed paper.
    If the paper tears, remove 
    every loose scrap from inside 
    the machine.
    5Push cassette 2 back in place securely.

    Optional Cassettes 3 and 4
    Follow the steps below to clear paper jams in cassettes 3 or 4 when using 
    the optional paper feeder.
    1Open left cover 3.
    2Remove the jammed paper.
    If the paper tears, remove 
    every loose scrap from inside 
    the machine.
    3Pull out the cassette in use.

    4Remove the jammed paper.
    5Push the cassette back in place securely.
    6Close left cover 3.
    Multi Purpose Tray
    Follow the steps below to clear paper jams in the Multi Purpose Tray.
    1Remove all papers from the 
    Multi Purpose Tray.
    2If paper is jammed inside, pull 
    the paper toward you to 
    remove.

    Inside the Left Covers 1, 2 and 3
    Follow the steps below to clear paper jams inside left cover 1, 2 or 3 when 
    using the optional paper feeder.
    1Open the left cover where the 
    paper is jammed inside.
    2Remove the jammed paper.
    If the paper tears, remove 
    every loose scrap from inside 
    the machine.
    3Close the left cover.
    Duplex Unit
    Follow the steps below to clear paper jams in the duplex unit.
    1Pull up left cover 1 lever and 
    open the left cover.

    2Remove the jammed paper.
    3Lift up the duplex unit and 
    remove the jammed paper.
    4Press the specified position to 
    close left cover 1.
    Duplex Unit and Cassette 1
    Follow the steps below to clear paper jams in duplex unit and cassette 1.
    1Pull up left cover 1 lever and 
    open the left cover.

    the jammed paper.
    4Pull out cassette 1 and remove the jammed paper.
    If the paper tears, remove

    5Push cassette 1 back in place securely.
    6Press the specified position to 
    close left cover 1.
