    Earth points andheaders joints
Shows aplan view ofthe vehicle including locationofall earth points.
    Supporting photographs andconnector detailinformation appearinthe
    Connector section.
    Description andOperation
Presented inthe same orderasthe circuit diagrams aredisplayed inthe
    Electrical CircuitDiagram folder,eachofthe descriptions containsabrief
overview ofthe main system functions andincludes operating parameters for
sensors andswitches andreference tothe appropriate wirecolours. Always
read thissection beforestarting workonasystem sothat agood
    understanding ofsystem functionality isobtained.
Connector This section iseffectively anindex ofevery electrical connector onthe vehicle,
including headerjointsandeyelets. Apage isdedicated toeach connector,
    with theinformation presentedinastandard formatincluding displayofthe
connector numberoneach page header toease reference. Somederivatives
within themodel rangemayhave connectors whichhavebeen allocated
identical numbers tothose already used, butare located inadifferent position
on the vehicle. Wherepossible theseconnectors aredisplayed onadjacent
pages together withanalternative locationstatement, aqualifying statement
    and anaccompanying photograph.
    Connector information comprises:
Connector Number-The assigned number, prefixedC.Connector Name-Usually derivedfromthecomponent towhich the
    connection ismade.
Male/Female -If applicable, identifiesthegender ofthe connector pins
(NOT thehousing) asMale orFemale. Generally, connectors mating

    Fault
    diagnosis
When diagnosing anelectrical faultfollow thesteps below:
    1. Read thecircuit description andstudy thecircuit diagram appropriate to
the reported faulttoensure agood understanding ofcircuit operation.
    2. Study thepower distribution, fusedetails andearth distribution diagrams
and identify othercircuits whichsharefusesand/or earthpoints. Check
    whether thesecircuits operate correctly.
    3. Using thephotographs containedinthe Connector section, locateapoint
on the circuit (approximately halfway between supplyandearth) whichis
    easily accessible.
    4. Check thatthepinout details ofthe connector arecorrect andthatthe
    correct signals existatthe correct terminals.
    5. Using themarker pensupplied (orother suitable non-permanent marker
pen), marktheparts ofthe circuit youhave verified.
    6. Continue tothe next point onthe circuit whichiseasiest toaccess and
    repeat theabove.
    7. Continue thisapproach untilafault isfound, rectifythefault andthen
    verify thatthecircuit operates correctly.
