When you want to use the touch pad again, return the setting to [Enable]. (Îpage 27) zWhen using the touch pad, keep the following in mind. By design the touch pad is to be used with a finger tip only. Do not place any object or press down forcefully with sharp-pointed objects, i.e. finger nails, pencils, or pens on the work surface. Try to avoid having any harmful substances, such as oil, come in contact with the touch pad. The cursor may not work properly in such cases. 23 Getting Started Expanding Memory Depending on the computer, you can expand the RAM module (sold separately). The increase in memory will improve the processing speed of Windows and other applica- tion software. (Effects may differ depending on your usage conditions.) zUse recommended RAM module products. Do not use non-recommended RAM modules. Non-recommended RAM modules may not operate properly, and may cause damage to your computer. Refer to Specifications (Îpage 57) for recom- mended RAM module specifications. Refer to various sources for recommended RAM module. zMatsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. will bear no responsibility whatsoever for fail- ures or damage caused by the use of non-recommended RAM modules, or by incorrect installation or removal of such RAM modules. Before installing a RAM module, confirm the product type and the correct installation method. CAUTION zRAM modules are extremely sensitive to static electricity. There are cases where static electricity generated by the human body has adversely affected such RAM modules. When inserting or removing a RAM module, do not touch the terminals or internal components, insert objects other than the module, or allow foreign particles to enter. Doing so has been known to cause damage, fire or electric shock. ‹Inserting 1Power off your computer. (Îpage 20) zDo not shut down using the standby or hibernation function. zDisconnect the AC adaptor. 2Turn the computer over, remove the battery pack and the screw (A), then c hold up the cover (B) and d pull it out. zThere is one screw on the cover. Check once more to ensure that the module is positioned correctly. z The slot may be damaged if the following procedure is performed with- out inserting the module firmly. D Press the RAM module down until the right and left hooks (G) lock into place. z When pressing down the module, the right and left hooks will open slightly and will return after locking. z If the RAM module is difficult to pr ess down, do not force it. Check once more to ensure that the module is positioned correctly. 4Put the cover back in place. A Insert the cover at an angle, then fit it into place. B Fasten the screw. NOTE z The memory size in [Information] menu of the Setup Utility ( Îpage 26) has increased if the RAM module has been recognized. If the RAM module is not recognized, power off the computer and insert it again. Refer to the main memory in the specifications to check the memory size at the time of shipment.
