    Taking Pictures with Aperture-priority AE
When you want the background to be in sharp focus, set the aperture value to a
higher number. The higher the aperture value, the smaller the aperture opening will
be. For a soft focus background, set the aperture number to a lower number which
corresponds to a larger aperture opening.
    Preparation
Set the mode dial to [ ]. (P30)
1Select [AE MODE] and set it to [A].
Close the menu by pressing the [MENU] button after finishing the
    setting.
2Set the aperture value and take
    the picture.
    ¬Suggestions/Tips ¬
Refer to P56 for the available range of the aperture value and the shutter
    speed.
The focus range is 0.16 feet (5 cm) – ¶
    (Wide) and 6.56 feet (2 m) – ¶ (Tele).
If the subject is too bright, set to larger
aperture value, if too dim, set to
    smaller aperture value.
The brightness of the screen may
differ from that of the actual pictures.
Check it using review function or
    setting to the playback mode.
The ISO sensitivity cannot be set to [AUTO].
When the exposure is not adequate, of the aperture and the shutter speed
values on the screen turn red.
