    For details on [MOTION PICTURE] Mode menu settings, refer to P28.
    It will continually keep on focusing to the subject that the focus was once set.
    Applicable modes:
     
    [OFF]/[ON]

    •
    When set to [OFF], it may take time for motion picture recording to start.•Set this function to [OFF] if you wish to fix  the focus on the position where you started the 
    motion picture recording.
    •In [STARRY SKY] and [FIREWORKS] in Scene Mode, this setting is fixed to [OFF].
    For details on [MOTION PICTURE] Mode menu settings, refer to P28 .
    This reduces the wind noise in the audio recording.
    Applicable modes:
     
    [OFF]/[ON]
    Note
    •
    Sound quality will be different than usual when [WIND CUT] is set.•It will be set to [OFF] when the [ZOOM MIC] is set to [ON].
    For details on [MOTION PICTURE] Mode menu settings, refer to P28 .
    Coupled to the zoom operation, it will clearly record far sounds with tele, and surrounding 
    sounds with wide.
    Applicable modes:

    •
    When set to [ON] and performing zoom, the operation sound may be recorded enhanced in 
    accordance with the surrounding sounds. Also, audio recording level will  be lower compared to 
    when [OFF].
    •The stereo effect of the audio is reduced when the picture is enlarged.

    Entering Text
    It is possible to enter babies’ and pets’ names and the names of travel destinations when 
    recording. (Only alphabetical characters and symbols can be entered.)
    Display the entry screen and press 4 to move to the character 
    selection section.
    •You can display the entry screen via the following operations.–[NAME] of [BABY1]/[BABY2] or [PET]  (P99) in Scene Mode.–[NAME] in [FACE RECOG.]  (P124)–[LOCATION] in [TRAVEL DATE]  (P127)–[TITLE EDIT] (P166)
    Press 3/4/2/ 1 to select text and then press 
    [MENU/SET] to register.
    •Press [DISPLAY] to switch text between [A] (capitals), [a] 
    (lower case) and [&/1] (special characters and numbers).
    •The entry cursor position can be moved left and right with the 
    zoom lever.
    •To enter a blank, move the cursor to [SPACE], to delete an entered character, move the 
    cursor to [DELETE], or to stop editing during text entry, move the cursor to [CANCEL], 
    and press [MENU/SET].
    •A maximum of 30 characters can be entered. (Maximum of 9 characters when setting 
    names in [FACE RECOG.])
    Press  3/4/2/ 1 to move the cursor to [SET] and then press [MENU/
    SET] to end text input.
    •Display will return to the appropriate setting screen.
    Note
    •Text can be scrolled if all of the entered text does not fit on the screen.

    [PLAYBACK] Mode: ¸
    Playing Back Burst Pictures
    Press 2/1 to select a picture with a burst icon [ ˜], and then press 
    3 to play back.
    •Burst pictures are continuously played back.
    Press  4to finish the continuous playback.
    •It will resume normal playback once the continuous playback has finished.
    ∫About the burst picture group
    Pictures taken with Burst or Flash Burst are recorded collectively 
    as a burst picture group with burst icon [ ˜].
    ABurst icon•Continuous Playback and Multi Playback in a group unit is possible.•Deleting and editing in a group unit is possible. (For example, if you 
    delete a burst picture group with [ ˜], all the pictures in that group are 
    deleted.)
    •It is also possible to delete or edit single pictures within the group.•Burst pictures recorded after the number of burst pictures has 
    exceeded 50000 will not be grouped.
    •Burst pictures recorded on other cameras may not be recognized as a 
    burst picture group. 
    Continuously playing back burst pictures
    ∫ Operations during burst picture group playback
    The cursor displayed during playback is the same as  3/4 /2/ 1.
    A Play/Pause
    B Stop
    C Fast rewind, Previous picture
    ¢1
    D Fast forward, Next picture¢1
    ¢1 These operations can be performed only in the 
    Pause Mode.
    –Press  1 during playback to fast forward (press 
    2  to rewind).
    –You can zoom while paused.–Pause and rotate the zoom lever towards [ L] 
    (W) for Multi Playback of the pictures in the 
    Burst Picture Group.

    Note
    •Pictures for which information could not be retrieved will not be recognized as belonging to a 
    burst picture group, but as single pictures.
    •If you switch the power switch to [OFF] while information is being retrieved, the information 
    retrieved up to that point will be saved. When you switch on again, the information retrieval will 
    restart from the same point.
    ∫ About retrieval of Burst Picture group information
    If you delete or change the file names of pictures stored in the 
    built-in memory using a PC, or pictures stored the memory card 
    using a PC or other device, the camera will automatically retrieve 
    the new information and recompose the burst picture groups when 
    you switch it on again. During the retrieval of information after a 
    change to the files, the currently retrieving information icon [ ] 
    A  will appear in the playback screen. While this icon is displayed, 
    you cannot use [DELETE] or the playback menu

    Editing Burst Pictures
    You can edit the pictures in the burst picture group as single pictures or in group units 
    (including all pictures in group).
    ∫ Editing single pictures within a burst picture group
    •
    The following editing menu can be used.–[TITLE EDIT]  (P166), [TEXT STAMP]  (P168), [RESIZE]  (P171), [CROPPING]  (P172), 
    [LEVELING] (P174) , [FAVORITE] (P176), [PRINT SET]  (P177), [PROTECT]  (P179), 
    [DELETE]  (P180), [FACE REC EDIT]  (P181), [COPY]  (P182)
    To select an image during continuous playba ck of burst pictures (Burst Play menu)
    To select an image during normal playback
    1Press  3 to pause during continuous playback.
    2Press [MENU/SET].3Press  3/4  to Select item, and press  1.
    4Press  3/4  to select [SINGLE] or [MULTI] and then press 
    [MENU/SET].
    •
    You cannot select [SINGLE] or [MULTI] when [CROPPING] or 
    [LEVELING] is selected.
    5Select the picture, and perform editing.

    ∫ Editing in burst picture group units
    All pictures in the burst picture group are edited at once.
    •
    For burst picture groups, the following editing menu can be used.–[TITLE EDIT]  (P166), [TEXT STAMP]  (P168), [RESIZE]  (P171), [FAVORITE]  (P176), 
    [PRINT SET]  (P177), [PROTECT]  (P179), [DELETE]  (P180), [FACE REC EDIT]  (P181), 
    [COPY]  (P182)
    1Press [MENU/SET] in normal playback screen.
    2Select the item on the [PLAYBACK] mode menu and then 
    press 1.3Press  3/4  to select [SINGLE] or [MULTI] and then press 
    [MENU/SET].
    ∫ About display of [FAVORITE], [PRINT SET] and [PROTECT] icons during playback 
    of burst picture groups.
    If you set [FAVORITE]
      (P176), [PRINT SET] (P177) or [PROTECT] (P179) for any of the 
    pictures in the burst picture group, the  following icons will appear on the group top screen.

    •
    [CROPPING] and [LEVELING] is not possible at once on the burst picture group units.•Pictures for which you have performed [TEXT STAMP], [RESIZE], [CROPPING], or 
    [LEVELING] will be saved separately from burst pictures.
    •If you delete all pictures except  one, that picture will be saved as a single picture instead of as 
    a burst picture group.
    •When a setting is made for a group (all pictures in the group), the numeral indicating the 
    number of pictures subject to the setting will not appear. The icon will appear alone.
    4Select an image with burst icon [ ˜]A, and perform 
    editing.
    •
    You can select multiple pictures from the burst picture group and 
    other images by selecting [MULTI] in step 3.For details on the various ways of editing, refer to “Using the 
    [PLAYBACK] Mode menu”.  (P165)
    Initial screen for burst 
    picture group[FAVORITE][PROTECT][PRINT SET]
    A Total number of all pictures stored within the burst picture group.
    B Number of pictures in given burst picture group subject to a setting.
    C Total number of prints set over all burst picture groups.
    •For example, if 3 pictures are to be printed  from each of 2 burst pictures within the group, 
    a 6 will appear here.

    [PLAYBACK] Mode: ¸
    Playing Back Motion Pictures
    •This unit was designed to play motion pictures using the QuickTime Motion JPEG and AVCHD 
    formats that were taken with this model (only).
    •Motion pictures in AVCHD format that can be played back on this unit are [AVCHD] motion 
    pictures that were recorded with this unit, AVCHD format (including [AVCHD Lite]) motion 
    pictures recorded with Panasonic digital cameras (LUMIX) only.
    ∫ Operations performed during Motion Picture Playback
    The cursor displayed during playback is the same as  3/4 /2/ 1.
    A Play/Pause
    B Stop
    C Fast rewind, Frame-by-frame rewind
    ¢
    DFast forward, Frame-by-frame forward¢
    ¢ These operations can be performed only in the Pause Mode.
    E Reduce volume level
    F Increase volume level
    •About fast forward/rewind playback–Press  1 during playback to fast forward (press  2 to rewind). The fast forward/rewind speed 
    increases if you press  2/1  again. (The display on the screen changes from 5 to  .)–Press  3 to resume normal playback speed.–When using a high capacity card, it is possible that fast rewinding may be slower than usual.
    Note
    •Sound can be heard through the speaker. Refer to [VOLUME] (P31)  for information about how 
    to adjust the volume in the [SETUP] menu.
    •To playback the motion pictures recorded by this unit on a PC, use the QuickTime or the 
    “PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.2 HD Edition” software on the CD-ROM (supplied).
    •QuickTime Motion JPEG motion pictures that  were recorded with a PC or other equipment may 
    have lower image quality or may not be able to play back with this unit.

    Press  2/1 to select a picture with a 
    motion picture icon (such as [ ]), 
    and then press  3 to play back.

    B The motion picture recording time
    •After playback starts, the elapsed playback 
    time is displayed on the upper right of the 
    screen.
    For example, 8 minutes and 30 seconds is 
    displayed as [8m30s].
    •Some information (recording information, etc.) 
    is not displayed for motion pictures recorded in 
    [AVCHD].

    You can play back the motion pictures recorded with scene mode set to 
    [HIGH SPEED MOVIE] according to your preference, such as with slow motion playback 
    or fast forward playback.
    ∫Operations performed during Motion Picture Playback
    Same as the normal operation to playback motion pictures. See  P157. 
    •
    Playback speed can be changed to 3 levels.•With high-speed motion pictures, you cannot control the volume.
    Note
    •Elapsed playback time at the top right of the screen is the actual recording time when the 
    motion picture was recorded. Actual playback time is different from the displayed time.
    •When using a high capacity card, it is possible  that fast rewinding may be slower than usual.
    Playing Back [HIGH SPEED MOVIE]
    Press  2/1 to select a picture with a 
    [HIGH SPEED MOVIE] icon [ ], and then press  3 to 
    play back.
    A Hi-speed Motion Picture icon•After playback starts, the elapsed playback time is displayed on the 
    upper right of the screen.
    For example, 7 minutes and 47 seconds is displayed as [7m47s].

    Creating Still Pictures From a Motion Picture
    You can create a single still picture from a recorded motion picture.
    Press 3 to pause Motion Picture playback.
    Press [MENU/SET].
    Press  3 to select [YES] and then press 
    [MENU/SET].
    •[QUALITY] is fixed to [› ].•Still pictures created from a motion picture may be coarser than with normal picture quality.
    Note
    •You may not be able to save still pictures from a motion picture taken on other equipment.

    Advanced (Playback)Playing Back Pictures in Sequence (Slide Show)
    You can play back the pictures you have taken in synchronisation with music, and you can 
    do this in sequence while leaving a fixed interval between each of the pictures.
    You can also put together a slide show co mposed of only still pictures, only motion 
    pictures, only pictures of a particular category, or only favorites.
    We recommend this feature when you view your pictures by connecting the camera to a TV.
    Select [SLIDE SHOW] on the Playback Mode menu.
    Press  3/4 to select the item and then press 
    [MENU/SET].
    •[FAVORITE] can be selected only when [FAVORITE] on the 
    [SETUP] menu  (P39) is at [ON] and there are pictures already 
    set as favorites.
    •During [CATEGORY SELECTION], press 3 /4 /2 /1 to select 
    a category, and then press [MENU/SET] to proceed to step 3.
    For details on categories, refer to  P163.
    Press 3 to select [START] and then press 
    [MENU/SET].
    Press  4 to finish the slide show.
    •Normal playback resumes after the slide show finishes.
