    Transferring a Call to a Mailbox
    When you answered a call, and the caller wants to talk to someone who
    the caller knows is not available, you can place the caller into one of the
    mailboxes, where the caller can leave a message.
    The following is how calls must be transferred to a mailbox:

    You may remind the caller to press the #
    sign and the mailbox number if necessary,
    and press 
    (HOLD)(TRANSFER).
    •The call is put on hold.
    2
    Press (9)to hang up the call.
    •Even if you subscribed to a Caller ID service (p. 26), caller information will not be
    displayed while the message that the caller left is being played. The caller
    information will be recorded in the Caller List (p. 27) if the transferred call is an in-
    coming call.
    •Interrupting remote operation from a touch tone phone: If a user is accessing
    a mailbox from a remote location, and you mistakenly answer the call; Press
    (HOLD)(TRANSFER)and press (9). The user can then access a mailbox, by
    entering the remote code or the mailbox password (p. 57, 58).

    Voice mail service is an electronic on-line answering system offered by
    your telephone company. After subscribing, the voice mail system can
    answer calls automatically for you when your line is busy or if calls are not
    answered, and callers can leave their messages at a voice mail box
    located at the telephone company. 
    After the voice mail box has received messages,
    the handset will indicate it in two ways: 
    (a) “Voice mail” will be displayed, and 
    (b) “ ” on the display will flash. If registered
    to KX-TG2720, the line(s) which received
    message(s) will also be displayed.
    The access number must be stored within the
    system (p. 59).
    Listening to Voice Mail messages

    Press the soft key ( ).
    •If registered to KX-TG2720, the display will show
    as following.

    •The handset is connected to the telephone line
    and dials the access number.

    When finished, press  if using the
    speakerphone, or press

    •If “Voice mail” still remains or “”still flashes on the display even if you
    have listened to your voice mail message(s), press (CONF/FUNCTION), and
    press and hold (HOLD/CLEAR)until the unit beeps. “Voice mail” will
    disappear, 
    “”will stop flashing.
    •If your voice mail service uses a voice mail tone and the recorded message is
    over 3 minutes long, “Voice mail” may not be displayed and “ ” may not
    flash.

    “Base Unit Settings” (p. 53, 54, for KX-TG2700/KX-TG2720/KX-TG2730
    users), “Telephone System Settings” (p. 54, 55), “Answering System Settings”
    (p. 56-58, for KX-TG2730 users), and “Voice Mail Programming” (p. 59, 60, for
    KX-TG2700/KX-TG2720 users) are programmed within the system.
    •The displays will vary depending on which base unit model (KX-TG2700/
    KX-TG2720/KX-TG2730/KX-TG2740) this handset is registered to. 
    Base Unit Settings(For KX-TG2700/KX-TG2720/KX-TG2730 Users)
    Make sure the base unit and the handset are not being used.
    Base unit incoming call tone
    The system is preset to “2”.
    1. Press 
    (SNOOZE/ALARM).
    •You can also press (CONF/FUNCTION)to directly
    enter the function menu and go to step 3.
    2. Within 5 seconds, press the soft key 
    ().
    3. Scroll to “Initial setting” by pressing

    If the line is connected to a low voltage system such as a PBX, set to “B”.
    The system is preset to “A”. 
    1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of “Dialing mode” on page 54.
    2. Scroll to “Set line mode” by pressing

    Flash time
    The flash time depends on your telephone exchange or host PBX. 
    You can select the following flash times: “700, 600, 400, 300, 250, 110,
    100 or 90 ms (milliseconds)”. The system is preset to “700 ms”.
    1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of “Dialing mode” on page 54.

    Make sure the base unit and the handset are not being used.
    Caller’s recording time 
    You can select “1 minute”, “2 minutes”, “3 minutes” or “Greeting only” for
    the caller’s recording time. The system is preset to “3 minutes”.
    1. Press 
    (SNOOZE/ALARM).

    Number of rings
    You can select the number of times the unit rings before the Answering
    System answers a call, from “2” to “7” or “Toll saver”

    When you call the unit from outside: If the Answering System answers
    on the 2nd ring, there is at least one new message. If it answers on the
    4th ring, there are no new messages.
    Hang up when you hear the 3rd ring.This will save you the toll
    charge for the call.

    The remote code prevents unauthorized people from accessing your unit
    from a touch tone phone and listening to your messages. Choose any 
    2-digit number (00–99). The remote code must be different from the
    password (p. 58).
    The factory preset remote code is “11”. If you do not program your own
    remote code, you can use “11”. 
    1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of “Caller’s recording time” on page 56.
    2. Scroll to “Remote code” by pressing

    3. Enter a remote code using a 2-digit number
    (00–99), using the dialing buttons (
    (0)to (9)).

    Mailbox password (for Mailbox 2 and 3)
    You can use Mailbox 2 or 3 as your personal mailbox and prevent
    unauthorized people from accessing it and listening to the messages.
    Assign 2-digit password (00–99) to Mailbox 2 or 3. Each password and
    the remote code (p. 57) must be unique. Once the password is assigned
    to Mailbox 2 or 3, no one can access the mailbox to listen to messages
    without entering the password.
    1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of “Caller’s recording time” on page 56.
    2. Scroll to “Set mailbox2&3
    ” by pressing

    3. Select the mailbox by pressing

    •While the handset is not in use, “ ” will be
    displayed on the top right.
    To erase a stored number:
    In steps 7, press and hold

    Your telephone company sends special signals (Voice mail tones) to
    activate the VM indicator on the base unit. Press  or  to listen to
    the dial tone. If you hear a series of dial tones followed by a continuous
    dial tone, this is indication that a new message was recorded. Your phone
    comes set to detect these tones (set to “On”). Minutes after you hang up
    or after the phone stops ringing, the system will seize the phone line and
    check if a message has been recorded. If a new message was recorded
    at your telephone company, “Voice mail” will be displayed and the base
    unit VM indicator will flash. Set this programming to “Off” when:
    —you do not subscribe to a voice mail service,
    —your telephone company does not send a series of tones, followed by a
    continuous tone, or
    —
    your phone is connected to a business or office telephone system (PBX).
    Please refer to below to set this programming to OFF.
    If you are not sure which setting is required, consult your local telephone
    company or contact Panasonic Customer Call Center.
    1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of “Voice mail access number” on page 59.

    If you cleaned the charge contacts and charged the battery fully, but after a few
    telephone calls, “Recharge battery” is displayed and/or “ ” continues to
    flash, or “Charge for 15HRS” and “ ” are displayed, the battery may
    need replacing. Please order a new Panasonic N4HHGMB00001 (HHR-P103)
    battery at the telephone number shown on page 2.
