Maintenance/replacement ENGLISH - 101 Maintenance Replacing the unit ▶■Air filter and electrostatic filter The air filter should be replaced when cleaning is ineffective. The replacement air filter and electrostatic filter (TXFKN01RYNZP) are sold separately. (Service component) To purchase the product, consult your dealer. Replace the air filter and electrostatic filter whenever replacing the lamp unit. (An air filter and electrostatic filter are included with the replacement lamp unit ET -LAA110.) ▶■Replacing the air filter and electrostatic filter 1) Remove the air filter cover . ▶zUse a Phillips screwdriver to turn the air filter cover fixing screw until it turns freely , and then remove the air filter cover . Air filter cover f\ ixing screw Air filter cover 2) Pull out the air filter unit. ▶zHold the grips on the air filter unit and pull out the air filter unit from the projector . Air filter unit Grips (arrow engra\vve\f) • After removing the air filter unit, remove any large build ups of dirt or dust in the air filter unit bay and the air intake port on the projector . 3) Press the protrusions of air filter unit removed from the projector in the direction of the arrow and remove the air filter frame.

Maintenance/replacement 102 - ENGLISH Maintenance 4) Replace the air filter and electrostatic filter. ▶zReplace the air filter and electrostatic filter in the air filter unit with new ones. • Ensure that you attach the electrostatic filter and air filter in the correct order . Tabs Air filter frame Air filter case Air filter (black)\o Electrostatic filte\or (\fhite) Protrusio\bs Ribs 5) Assemble the air filter unit. ▶zFirst insert the electrostatic filter (white) into the center of the case ensuring that its edges do not ride on top of the ribs. And then insert the air filter (black) so that its four corners are within the case before attaching the air filter frame. • T ake care so that the air filter does not get caught between the air filter frame and the case. • Align the catches and protrusions on the air filter case and air filter frame when assembling the air filter unit. When attaching the air filter frame, ensure that the four catches are properly aligned with the protrusions on the air filter case and they have clicked into place. 6) Attach the air filter unit to the projector . ▶zAttach the air filter unit to the projector using the reverse of Step 2) . • Insert the air filter unit into the projector in the direction of the arrow engraved into the air filter frame () until it clicks into place. 7) Attach the air filter cover to the projector and use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the air filter cover fixing screw (one screw). ▶■ Lamp unit The lamp unit is a consumable component. Refer to “When to replace the lamp unit” ( page 103) for details about the lifespan. Consult your dealer to purchase a replacement lamp unit (ET -LAA110: Service component). It is recommended that you request a qualified technician to replace the lamp unit. Consult your dealer . Attention z Do not replace the lamp unit when it is hot. (W ait at least one hour after use.) The inside of the cover can become very hot, take care to avoid burn injuries.

Maintenance/replacement ENGLISH - 103 Maintenance ▶■Notes on the replacement of the lamp unit ▶z A Phillips screwdriver is necessary when replacing the lamp unit. ▶z Since the luminous lamp is made of glass, it may burst if dropped or hit with a hard object. Please handle with care. ▶zDo not disassemble or modify the lamp unit. ▶zWhen replacing the lamp unit, be sure to hold it by the handle. ▶zThe lamp may burst. Replace the lamp unit carefully so that the broken pieces of the lamp glass will not scatter . When the projector is mounted on the ceiling, do not make the replacement directly under the lamp unit or put your face near it. ▶z The lamp contains mercury . When disposing of used lamp units, contact your local authorities or dealer for correct methods of disposal. Attention z Use only specified lamp units. ▶■ When to replace the lamp unit The lamp unit is a consumable component. Since its brightness gradually decreases over time, it is necessary to replace it regularly. The estimated duration before replacement is 3 000 hours. However, this may be shortened depending on individual lamp characteristics, usage conditions, and the installation environment. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that a replacement lamp unit be kept. As the risk of the lamp to cracking increases after 3 000 hours *1 the lamp automatically turns off after approximately ten minutes. Illuminates red even during the standby mode. Note zT o estimate the lamp replacement timing, check the lamp usage time (converted value) displayed in [LAMP RUNTIME] ( page 68) of [PROJECTOR SETUP]. z The usage period of 3 000 hours is a rough estimate and is not guaranteed.

Maintenance/replacement 104 - ENGLISH Maintenance ▶■Replacing the lamp unit Attention z Once a lamp unit has exceeded its lifespan of 3 000 hours (the lamp usage time (converted value)) the projector can only be used for ten minutes after turning on the power . ( page 103) Perform Steps 14) to 17) within ten minutes. z When the projector is mounted on the ceiling, do not put your face near the lamp unit. zDo not open the top cover except when replacing the lamp unit. zDo not switch on the power while the top cover is opened. zReplace the air filter and electrostatic filter whenever replacing the lamp unit. zSecurely attach the lamp unit and lamp unit cover . 1) Follow the procedures described in “ Switching off the projector” ( page 38), press the side of the switch to turn off the power , disconnect the power plug from the power outlet, and wait at least one hour, and then check if the lamp unit has cooled down. 2) Remove the video cable connected to the connecting terminal. Attention z If you open the top panel fully , it may come into contact with connectors such as the video cable which may result in breakage of the video cable. Before opening the top panel, be sure to remove the connected video cables, etc. 3) Hold the protrusions at the front corner of the top cover of the projector and push up to open the top cover . ▶zWhen the projector is mounted on the ceiling, stand at the lens side of the projector when opening/closing the top cover . A Handle Lamp unit fixing s\cc\fews Lamp unit lock 7) Insert the new lamp unit while making sure that the direction is correct and use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the lamp unit screws (two screws). ▶z Press down on the A part firmly when inserting the lamp unit. 8) Attach the lamp cover and use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the lamp cover fixing screw (one screw). 9) Close the top cover of the projector . ▶zClose the top cover using the reverse of Step 3) , and press the center of the top cover. 10) Reconnect the video cable disconnected in 2) to the connecting terminal. 1 1) Replace the air filter and electrostatic filter . ▶zRefer to “Replacing the air filter and electrostatic filter” ( page 101) for details about the procedure. 12) Insert the power plug into a power outlet, and press the side of the switch to turn on the power .
