Using data with another Sony CLIÉ™ Handheld171 Using data with another Sony CLIÉ™ Handheld 7Click the user name of your new CLIÉ handheld from the User name list at the upper right of the screen. Tip If you have never performed a HotSync® operation with your new CLIÉ handheld, select Users from the Tools menu. Click New in the Users screen and enter a new user name. Then select the user name you just entered. 8Click Import , from the File menu. 9Select the files you have exported in step 3 through 6 and click Open . 10Perform a HotSync® operation. The data exported from your old CLIÉ handheld is copied onto your new CLIÉ handheld. Do not perform a HotSync® operation with the same user name in other CLIÉ handhelds If a HotSync® operation between your new CLIÉ handheld and the Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software for your old CLIÉ handheld is performed with the user name that has been being used, the setting information that are specific to the old CLIÉ handheld will be transferred with the data and some problems may arise. If you try performing a HotSync ® operation in the same way with your old CLIÉ handheld, problem may also arise. Do not transfer data by this method. The screen to select the user name is displayed when performing a HotSync® operation in your CLIÉ handheld Please enter a name that is different from the user name of the CLIÉ handheld that is being used. If the same user name is used, the Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software will not recognize your CLIÉ handheld properly and the data of the respective models will be mixed or deleted. Moreover, if you copy UnsavedPreference from another CLIÉ handheld to your CLIÉ handheld, you will not be able to manage your CLIÉ handheld with another name since the user name is also copied.
Using data with another Sony CLIÉ™ Handheld172 Using data with another Sony CLIÉ™ Handheld Note on performing a HotSync® operation in another CLIÉ handheld When using another CLIÉ handheld, install (Over write) Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software that is supplied with the newly purchased CLIÉ handheld without deleting the Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software that is being used, from your computer. The new Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software will be installed after uninstalling old software except for the necessary features for another CLIÉ handheld.
