Synchronizing with external data (File Link)
The File Link feature allows you to import Address Book and Memo Pad
information onto your CLIÉ handheld from a separate external file such as a

category on your Palm Desktop for CLIÉ software and your CLIÉ handheld.
You can set the File Link feature to check for changes to the external file
when you perform a HotSync operation.
With File Link, you can import data stored in any of the following file
    formats:
    •Comma-delimited (*.csv)
•Palm Desktop for CLIÉ software’s Memo Pad archive (*.mpa)
•Palm Desktop for CLIÉ software’s Address Book archive (*.aba)

What you can do with beaming
Your CLIÉ handheld is equipped with an IR (infrared) port that you can use
to beam information to another Palm OS
® PDA device that is close by and
also has an IR port. The IR port is located at the top of your CLIÉ handheld,
    behind the small dark shield.
You can beam the following information between your CLIÉ handheld and
    another Palm OS PDA:
•The record currently displayed in Address Book, Date Book, To Do List, or
    Memo Pad.
•All records of the category currently displayed in Address Book, Date
Book, To Do List, or Memo Pad.
•A special Address Book entry that you designate as your business card.
•An application installed in RAM memory.
    Note
Some applications are protected and cannot be beamed, as indicated by a lock
     icon
    to the side of applications.
