    TROUBLESHOOTING
     Any of the following fail to light: turn signal light, brake light or an indicator light.
     The horn fails to sound.
    NOTE:
     Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s):
    1. Seat
    2. Front cowling inner panel
    3. Fuel tank
    4. Side coverNG→

    Check the signaling system
    The horn fails to sound. NG→
    OK ↓
    NG→
    OK ↓
    1. Check the fuses.
    (Main, ignition, signaling and tail)
    Refer to CHECKING THE FUSES 
    on page 8-67. Replace the fuse(s).
    2. Check the battery. Refer to CHECKING AND 
    CHARGING THE BATTERY on 
    page 8-68.  Clean the battery terminals.
     Recharge or replace the battery.
    3. Check the main switch. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the main switch.
    4. Check the entire signaling system’s  wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-19. Properly connect or repair the signal-
    ing system’s wiring.
    This circuit is OK.
    1. Check the horn switch. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the left handlebar switch.
    2. Check the horn. Refer to CHECKING THE HORN 
    on page 8-77. Replace the horn.

    The tail/brake light fails to come on. NG→

    The turn signal light, turn signal indicator light or both fail to blink. NG→

    3. Check the entire signaling system’s 
    wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-19. Properly connect or repair the signal-
    ing system’s wiring.
    This circuit is OK.
    1. Check the tail/brake light bulb and  socket.
    Refer to CHECKING THE BULBS 
    AND BULB SOCKETS on page 8-
    66. Replace the tail/brake light bulb, 
    socket or both.
    2. Check the front brake light switch. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the front brake light switch.
    3. Check the rear brake light switch. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the rear brake light switch.
    4. Check the entire signaling system’s  wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-19. Properly connect or repair the signal-
    ing system’s wiring.
    This circuit is OK.
    1. Check the turn signal indicator light  bulb and socket.
    Refer to CHECKING THE LEDS 
    on page 8-67. Replace the turn signal indicator light 
    bulb, socket or both.
    2. Check the turn signal switch. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the left handlebar switch.

    The neutral indicator light fails to come. NG→

    3. Check the hazard switch.
    Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the left handlebar switch.
    4. Check the turn signal/hazard relay. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    RELAYS on page 8-71. The turn signal relay is faulty and must 
    be replaced.
    5. Check the entire signaling system’s  wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-19. Properly connect or repair the signal-
    ing system’s wiring.
    This circuit is OK.
    1. Check the neutral indicator light  bulb and socket.
    Refer to CHECKING THE LEDS 
    on page 8-67. Replace the neutral indicator light 
    bulb, socket or both.
    2. Check the neutral switch. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the neutral switch.
    3. Check the starting circuit cut-off  relay.
    Refer to CHECKING THE 
    RELAYS on page 8-71. Replace the starting circuit cut-off 
    relay.

    The oil level warning light fails to come. NG→

    4. Check the entire signaling system’s 
    wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-19. Properly connect or repair the signal-
    ing system’s wiring.
    This circuit is OK.
    1. Check the oil level warning light  bulb and socket.
    Refer to CHECKING THE LEDS 
    on page 8-67. Replace the oil level warning light 
    bulb, socket or both.
    2. Check the oil level switch. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the oil level switch.
    3. Check the entire signaling system’s  wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-19. Properly connect or repair the signal-
    ing system’s wiring.
    This circuit is OK.
    1. Check the fuel level warning light  bulb and socket.
    Refer to CHECKING THE LEDS 
    on page 8-67. Replace the fuel level warning light 
    bulb, socket or both.
    2. Check the fuel sender. Refer to CHECKING THE FUEL 
    SENDER on page 8-78. Replace the fuel pump assembly.

    The speedometer fails to operate. NG→
    OK ↓

    NOTE:
    Repair or replace if there is an open or short circuit.
     Between ECU coupler and meter assembly.
    (yellow/blue-yellow/blue)
    3. Check the entire signaling system’s 
    wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-19. Properly connect or repair the signal-
    ing system’s wiring.
    This circuit is OK.
    1. Check the speed sensor. Refer to CHECKING THE SPEED 
    SENSOR on page 8-78. Replace the speed sensor.
    2. Check the entire signaling system’s  wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-19. Properly connect or repair the signal-
    ing system’s wiring.
    Replace the meter assembly.

    TROUBLESHOOTING
    NOTE:
     Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s):
    1. Seat

    3. Fuel tank

    1. Check the fuses.
    (Main, ignition and radiator fan 
    motor)
    Refer to CHECKING THE FUSES 
    on page 8-67. Replace the fuse(s).
    2. Check the battery. Refer to CHECKING AND 
    CHARGING THE BATTERY on 
    page 8-68.  Clean the battery terminals.
     Recharge or replace the battery.
    3. Check the main switch. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the main switch.
    4. Check the radiator fan motor. Refer to CHECKING THE RADIA-
    TOR FAN MOTOR on page 8-79. The radiator fan motor is faulty and 
    must be replaced.
    5. Check the radiator fan motor relay. Refer to CHECKING THE 
    RELAYS on page 8-71. Replace the radiator fan motor relay.
    6. Check the coolant temperature. Refer to CHECKING THE COOL-
    ANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    on page 8-79. Replace the coolant temperature sen-
    sor.
    7. Check the entire cooling system’s  wiring.
    Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on 
    page 8-27. Properly connect or repair the cooling 
    system’s wiring.
    This circuit is OK.
