    							BlackBerry Tag
    Pair with a Bluetooth enabled device using BlackBerry Tag
    1.On the home screen, click the connections area at the top of the screen, or click the Manage Connections icon.
    2.Click Networks and Connections > Bluetooth Connections.
    3.Click Add New Device.
    4.Align the back of your BlackBerry smartphone with a smart accessory or an NFC-enabled device.
    5.If necessary, enter your smartphone password or your accessory's PIN.
    Send a file using BlackBerry Tag
    You can use BlackBerry Tag to send files such as pictures, songs, videos, documents, and voice notes between two NFC-
    enabled devices.
    1.Do one of the following:
    •To send a single file, find and highlight or open a file.
    •To send multiple picture files, find and highlight the files you want to send.
    2.Align the back of your BlackBerry smartphone with an NFC-enabled device.
    3.If necessary, click Send.
    Send contact cards using BlackBerry Tag
    You can send a contact card from your BlackBerry smartphone to another NFC-enabled device or simultaneously 
    exchange contact cards between two NFC-enabled 
    BlackBerry smartphones. Contact cards sent using NFC technology are 
    automatically saved in the contact list of the receiving smartphone.
    1.On the home screen, click the Contacts icon.
    2.Click a contact.
    3.Align the back of your smartphone with the back of another BlackBerry smartphone or an NFC-enabled device.
    4.If necessary, click Send.
    Send a webpage using BlackBerry Tag
    You can use BlackBerry Tag to send a webpage that is open in your browser.
    1.On the home screen, click the Browser icon.

    Smart tags
    About smart tags
    Organizations might add smart tags to items such as posters, flyers, or t-shirts. When you tap the back of your BlackBerry 
    smartphone against a smart tag, your smartphone reads the smart tag and saves the smart tag in the Smart Tags 
    application. Smart tags can contain a range of information including web addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, 
    coupons, graphics, media files, event details, and more. To read a smart tag, NFC technology must be turned on and the 
    backlight on your smartphone must be turned on.
    View, save, or delete a smart tag
    When you tap the back of your BlackBerry smartphone against a smart tag, your smartphone automatically saves the smart 
    tag in the Smart Tags application along with the date, time, and location.
    Do one of the following:
    •To view and save a new smart tag, tap the back of your smartphone against a smart tag.
    •To view a saved smart tag, in the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon. Click a smart tag.
     • To delete a saved smart tag, in the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon. Highlight a smart tag. Press the 
     key > Delete.
    Create a smart tag
    1.In the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon.
    2.Press the  key > Create Tag.
    •To create a smart tag that presents the option to visit a webpage, in the Type drop-down list, click Web. In the 
    Name field, type a name. In the URL field, type a web address.
    •To create a smart tag that presents the option to call a phone number, send a text message, or add a phone  number to a contact list, in the 
    Type drop-down list, click Phone. In the Name field, type a name. In the Number 
    field, type a phone number.
    •To create a smart tag that presents the option to send an email or add the email address to a contact list, in the 
    Type drop-down list, click Email. In the Name field, type a name. In the Address field, type an email address. To 
    set a subject and message for the email, in the in the 
    Subject and Message fields, type the subject and message.
    •To create a smart tag that presents the option to send a text message, in the Type drop-down list, click SMS. In 
    the 
    Name field, type a name. In the Number field, type a phone number. To set a message for the text message, 
    in the 
    Message field, type a message.

    							3.Click Save.
    Share a smart tag
    Before you begin: 
    To perform this task, NFC technology must be turned on and the  indicator must appear on the screen when you 
    click a smart tag.
    1.In the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon.
    2.Click a smart tag.
    3.Align the back of your BlackBerry smartphone with an NFC-enabled device.
    Change a smart tag
    You can change smart tags that you have created or smart tags that you have saved on your BlackBerry smartphone.
    1.In the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon.
    2.Highlight a smart tag.
    3.Press the  key > Edit.
    4.Change the Type drop-down list, or any of the fields.
    5.Click Save.
    Display a smart tag as a QR code
    If you want to share a smart tag with a device that is not NFC-enabled, you can temporarily display the smart tag as a QR  code on your 
    BlackBerry smartphone for the device to scan.
    1.In the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon.
    2.Highlight a smart tag.
    3.Press the  key > Show as Barcode.
    Save a QR code as a smart tag
    When you scan a QR code through the Smart Tags application, your BlackBerry smartphone automatically saves it as a 
    smart tag in the Smart Tags application along with the date and time.
    1.In the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon.
    2.Press the  key > Scan Barcode. 
    3.Point your camera at a QR code and hold it steady until a smart tag appears on your smartphone's screen.

    							Copy smart tag data from your smartphone to a writable smart tag
    You can copy the data of a smart tag that you created to a writable smart tag. You can use writable smart tags to make your own smart posters, smart postcards, and more.
    1.In the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon.
    2.Click a smart tag.
    3.Press the  key > Write to Tag.
    4.Tap the back of your BlackBerry smartphone against a writable smart tag.
    To prevent other NFC-enabled devices from changing the writeable smart tag, press the  key > Lock Tag. Tap the 
    back of your smartphone against the writeable smart tag.
    Copy Bluetooth pairing information to a writeable smart tag
    Before you begin: To perform this task, your BlackBerry smartphone must already be paired with a Bluetooth enabled 
    device.
    To make pairing faster between NFC-enabled devices and a Bluetooth enabled device that does not have NFC, you can 
    copy the 
    Bluetooth enabled device's pairing information from your smartphone to a writeable smart tag. The next time you 
    want to pair an NFC-enabled device with the 
    Bluetooth enabled device, you can do so by tapping the writeable smart tag.
    1.On the home screen, click the connections area at the top of the screen, or click the Manage Connections icon.
    2.Click Networks and Connections > Bluetooth Connections.
    3.Highlight a paired device.
    4.Press the  key > Write to Tag.
    5.Tap the back of your smartphone against a writeable smart tag.
    Add a smart tag to or remove a smart tag from your list of favorites
    1.In the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon.
    2.Highlight a smart tag.
     • To add a smart tag to your favorites, press the  key > Mark as Favorite.
     • To remove a smart tag from your favorites, press the  key > Unmark as Favorite.
    View your list of favorite smart tags
    1.In the Applications folder, click the Smart Tags icon.

    Allow NFC payment transactions when your smartphone is turned off, 
    locked, or the backlight is off
    1.On the home screen, click the connections area at the top of the screen, or click the Manage Connections icon.
    2.Click Networks and Connections > Near Field Communication.
    3.In the Allow NFC Card Transactions section, do any of the following:
    •To allow NFC payment transactions when your BlackBerry smartphone is locked or the backlight is off, select the 
    When Locked or Backlight is Off checkbox.
    •To allow NFC payment transactions when your smartphone is turned off, select the When Powered Off checkbox.
    4.Press the  key > Save.
    Turn off the prompt that appears when you send or receive a file using 
    BlackBerry Tag
    1.On the home screen, click the connections area at the top of the screen, or click the Manage Connections icon.
    2.Click Networks and Connections > Near Field Communication.
    3.Clear the Prompt Before Sending Content or Prompt Before Receiving Content checkbox.
    4.Press the  key > Save. 
    To turn on the prompts again, select the Prompt Before Sending Content or Prompt Before Receiving Content checkbox.
    Play a sound alert when NFC technology makes a connection
    You can set your BlackBerry smartphone to play a sound alert when NFC technology connects to a smart accessory, reads 
    a smart tag, or exchanges information with an NFC-enabled electronic payment terminal or NFC-enabled access point.
    1.On the home screen, click the connections area at the top of the screen, or click the Manage Connections icon.
    2.Click Networks and Connections > Near Field Communication.
    3.Select the Play Sound Alert on Tap checkbox.

    							Troubleshooting: NFC technology
    NFC doesn't appear on the Manage Connections 
    screen
    If your email account uses a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, depending on the options that your administrator sets, you  might not be able to perform this task. For more information, contact your administrator.
    My smartphone doesn't respond to NFC technology
    Try the following actions:
    •Verify that NFC technology is turned on.
    •If you are trying to make a payment transaction using NFC technology and your BlackBerry smartphone's backlight is 
    off or your smartphone is off, verify that your smartphone is set to allow NFC payment transactions when the backlight 
    is off or the smartphone is off.
    •If you are trying to make a payment transaction using NFC technology, verify that the Smart Tags application isn't  running. If the Smart Tags application is open, you can't make payment transactions using NFC technology.

    I can't send or receive files
    If you're trying to send a file as an attachment, your BlackBerry smartphone must be associated with an email account that 
    uses the 
    BlackBerry Internet Service or a BlackBerry Enterprise Server that supports this feature. For more information, 
    contact your wireless service provider or administrator.
    If your email account uses a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, your organization might not allow you to use some features or 
    might prevent you from sending or receiving files. For more information about the features that are available on your  smartphone, contact you administrator.
    Try the following actions:
    •Verify that the file you're trying to send or receive is a file type that's supported by BlackBerry smartphones.

    							•Verify that the file that you're trying to send is a file that you have added to your smartphone and that the file is not protected by copyright or DRM.
    •If you're trying to send a file to or receive a file from a specific application, verify that the application is installed on yo\
    ur smartphone.
    •If you can't find a file that was sent to you, check the folder that matches the file type of the sent file. Files sent to your  smartphone are stored in the folder that matches each file's type. For example, if you receive a picture, the picture is 
    saved in the pictures folder of your smartphone or media card, depending on your smartphone's settings.

    How to: Media server
    About the media server
    Using the media server you can wirelessly share media files from your BlackBerry smartphone with supported devices that 
    are Universal Plug and Play compatible, such as some computers, TVs, or other home entertainment equipment. 
    Supported devices connect to your smartphone using a 
    Wi-Fi network to access your shared media files so that you can 
    play the files on the connected devices.
    Share media files using the media server
    Before you begin: The Wi-Fi connection must be turned on, and your BlackBerry smartphone must be connected to the 
    same 
    Wi-Fi network as the device you want to share media files with.
    1.On the home screen, click the Media icon.
    2.Press the  key > Media Server.
    3.Select the Turn on Media Server checkbox.
    4.When the file sharing indicator appears in the upper-right corner of the home screen, use the connected device you  want to share media files with to access your smartphone.
    5.On your smartphone allow access to your shared media files when prompted.
    6.To automatically accept all requests to share your media files, click Access Control and select the Auto Accept All 
    Connections
     checkbox.
    Note: If you turn off the media server and then turn it on again, devices that are identified by IP addresses will prompt you 
    again for access to your media files.

    You can change your decisions about which devices you allow to connect to your BlackBerry smartphone, and how they 
    connect, while using the media server.

    4.Highlight a connection.

    •To change whether a device automatically connects, must receive permission to connect, or is automatically 
    denied access to the media server, change the field.
     • To delete a device that's not currently active, press the  key > Delete Selected Device.
    Select the types of media files that you share using the 
    media server
    1.On the home screen, click the Media icon.
    2.Press the  key > Media Server.
    3.Click Preferences.
    4.Select or clear the checkbox beside each type of media file that you want to start or stop sharing.
    Change the display name of the media server
    The display name that you assign to your media server appears on supported devices when they detect the media server on  the 
    Wi-Fi network.
    1.On the home screen, click the Media icon.
    2.Press the  key > Media Server.
    3.Click Preferences > Edit.
    4.Type a display name for your BlackBerry smartphone.
    5.Click OK.

    							Smart accessories
    About the Smart Accessories application
    You can change how your BlackBerry smartphone functions when you connect it to a dock, charger, or charging pod by 
    creating a dock profile to identify the dock or charger in the Smart Accessories application. For example, you might be able 
    to identify a dock as a bedside dock so that when you connect your smartphone, your smartphone's sound profile turns off,  and your smartphone's alarm clock turns on.
    Set up a new dock
    The first time you connect your BlackBerry smartphone to a dock, charger, or charging pod, you're prompted to set the 
    behavior of your smartphone for each time it connects. If you choose not to set the behaviour of your smartphone you'll be 
    prompted again the next time you connect your smartphone to the dock, charger, or charging pod. If you remove your 
    smartphone from the dock, charger, or charging pod while the configuration screen is displayed on your smartphone, the 
    configuration screen will remain open.
    1.In the Smart dock dialog box, click Configure.
    2.In the Dock Name field, type a name for your dock profile.
    •To turn on an application when you connect your smartphone, in the Start Application drop-down list, click an 
    application.
    •To change the sound profile when you connect your smartphone, in the Sound Profile drop-down list, click a 
    sound profile.
    •To turn on or turn off the mobile network when you connect your smartphone, in the Mobile Network drop-down 
    list, click 
    On or Off.
    •To turn on or turn off the Wi-Fi connection when you connect your smartphone, in the Wi-Fi drop-down list, click 
    On or Off.
    •To turn on or turn off Bluetooth technology when you connect your smartphone, in the Bluetooth drop-down list, 
    click 
    On or Off.
