Adjust the flash output when the subject is small, or the reflectivity is very high or low.
Press 3 [È] several times to display [FLASH], 
and then press  2/1 to set the flash output.
•You can adjust from [ j2 EV] to [ i2 EV] in steps of [1/3 EV].•Select [0 EV] to return to the original flash output.

Applicable modes: 
Taking Close-up Pictures 
This mode allows you to take close-up pictures  of a subject, e.g. when taking pictures of 
flowers. You can take pictures of a subject  as close as 1 cm (0.04 feet) from the lens by 
rotating the zoom lever upmost to Wide (1 k).
Set the focus selector switch to [AF #].
•In AF Macro Mode, [ ] is displayed.

Taking Pictures with Manual Focus
Use this function when you want to fix the focus or when the distance between the lens 
and the subject is determined and you do not want to activate Auto Focus.
Set [SIDE LEVER] in the [SETUP] menu to [FOCUS].  (P52)
Set the focus selector switch to [MF].
•[MF] is displayed in the upper left of the screen 
while in Manual Focus Mode.

If [MF ASSIST]  (P56) in the [SETUP] menu is set to [ON], when focus is achieved, the MF 
area (locations that are in focus) is enlarged.
•
If you press [MENU/SET] while MF Assist is displayed, the MF area can be moved using 
3/ 4/2 /1. Pressing [MENU/SET] again returns the camera to MF Assist.
•The magnification of the enlarged area can be changed by pressing the rear dial when MF

This allows the sensitivity to light (ISO sensitivity) to be set. Setting to a higher figure 
enables pictures to be taken even in dark plac es without the resulting pictures coming out
