Bracket setting is performed based on the adjustment values for the white balance fine 
adjustment, and 3 pictures with different colors  are automatically recorded when the shutter 
button is pressed once.
1Press [DISP.] in step 2 of the “Finely adjusting the White 
Balance” procedure, and press  3/4/2 /1  to set the bracket.

Taking Pictures with Auto Focus
Applicable modes: 
This allows the focusing method that suits the positions and number of the subjects to be 
selected.
1Set the camera to Auto Focus.
2Select [AF Mode] on the [Rec] menu and then press 1.

∫About [ š] ([Face Detection])
The following AF area frames are displayed when the camera detects the 
faces.
Yellow:
When the shutter button is pressed halfway, the frame turns green when 
the camera is focused.
White:
Displayed when more than one face is detected. Ot her faces that are the same distance away 
as faces within the yellow AF areas are also focused.

When [Metering Mode] is set to multiple [ C], the camera will adjust the exposure to suit the person’s

∫Setting up [ ] ([AF Tracking])
Bring the subject to the AF tracking frame, and press [AF/AE 
LOCK] to lock the subject.

•AF area will be displayed in yellow when a subject is recognized, and 
exposure and focus will automatically adjust continuously following the 
subject’s movement (Dynamic tracking).
•AF tracking is canceled when [AF/AE LOCK] is pressed again.

∫Changing position and size of the AF area (Only when [ Ø] is selected)
If you performing any of the following operations, the screen will switch to the settings menu.
•
When [ Ø] is selected, press [FOCUS].•From the menu screen, select [ Ø], and press 1.

•You can set to arbitrary position of the screen. (It cannot be set to

Taking Close-up Pictures
Applicable modes: 
This mode allows you to take close-up pictures of a subject, e.g. when taking pictures of 
flowers. You can take pictures of a subject as close as 1 cm (0.033 feet) from the lens by 
rotating the zoom lever upmost to Wide (1k ).
Use this setting to get close to the subject and then further enlarge when taking the picture.
You can take a picture with the Digital Zoom up to 3k  while maintaining the distance to the 
subject for the extreme Wide...

•We recommend using a tripod and the Self-timer.•We recommend setting the flash to [Œ ] (close the flash) when you take pictures at close range.•If the distance between the camera and the subject is beyond the focus range of the camera, the 
picture may not be properly focused even if the focus indication lights.
•When a subject is close to the camera, the effective focus range is significantly narrowed. Therefore,

Taking Pictures with Manual Focus
Applicable modes: 
Use this function when you want to fix the focus or when the distance between the lens and the 
subject is determined and you do not want to activate Auto Focus.
1Set the Manual Focus.
•When shooting in Manual Focus, [MF] is displayed on the screen.
2Press the rear dial to set [MF] to a selected 
state.
•Enabled operation will switch every time the rear dial is 
pressed.

∫MF Assist
If [MF Assist]  (P62) in the [Setup] menu is set to [ON], when focus is achieved, the MF area 
(locations that are in focus) is enlarged.
•
If you press [MENU/SET] while MF Assist is displayed, the MF area can be moved using 
3/ 4/2 /1. Pressing [MENU/SET] again returns the camera to MF Assist.
•Performing the following operation returns the MF area to the center.–Changing the picture size or aspect.
–Turning the camera off (including Sleep Mode).
