      Recording modes and approximate recording
    times
    Depending on the content being recorded, the recording times may 
    become shorter than indicated.
    Note:
    •  When recording to DVD-RAM using “EP (8 H)” mode, play may not be 
    possible on DVD players that are compatible with DVD-RAM. In this case 
    use “EP (6 H)” mode.
    FR (Flexible Recording Mode) (See right)
    The unit automatically selects a recording rate between XP and EP 
    (8 H) that will enable the recordings to fit in the available recording 
    time on the disc with the best possible recording quality.
    •  You can set when programming timer recordings.
    •  All the recording modes from XP to EP appear in the display.(Unit: hour)

    • When    appears on the screen while a button is being pressed, it means that the corresponding operation is prohibited by 
    the unit or the disc.
      Flexible Recording (FR)
    The unit calculates a recording rate that enables the recording to fit 
    in the time you set (within the remaining time on the disc) with the 
    best picture quality.
