Press ENTER. The unit switches to the standby mode. Press POWER to turn the unit on again.– NO DISC• You haven’t inserted a disc. Correctly insert a disc that this unit can use. 9, 34 • The disc is upside down. If it is a single-sided disc, insert it so the label is facing up. 34 THIS IS NON-RECORDABLE DISC• The unit cannot record on the disc you inserted. Play starts but then stops immediately...• Insert the disc correctly with the label facing up. 34 • You tried to play a blank DVD-RAM/DVD-R, or discs unplayable on this unit. 8 • When recording to DVD-RAM using EP (8H) mode, play may not be possible on DVD players that are compatible with DVD-RAM. In this case use EP (6H) mode.68 DVD-Video is not played... • Some DVD-Video cannot be played when you change the ratings level. 68 Picture distorted during search... • Some distortion is normal. – Alternative sound track and subtitles cannot be selected...• The languages are not recorded on the disc. – • You may have to use the disc’s own menus to select languages. – No subtitles... • When progressive output is on, closed captions cannot be displayed. – • Subtitles are not recorded on the disc. – • Turn the Subtitles ON. 49 Angle cannot be changed... • This function depends on software availability. Even if disc has multiple angles, they may be recorded for specific scenes only.– You have forgotten your ratings password... • Reset all DVD initial settings to ex-factory condition. 67 Quick View does not work... • This does not work if the setting is “Off” in “Search Audio & PLAY ×1.3”. 69 • This does not work when audio is other than Dolby Digital. – • This does not work when recording is in XP or FR mode. – Play stops for a moment during Quick View...• Play may stop where two play lists join, but this is malfunction. – The resume play function does not work... • This function only works when “PLAY” is flashing in the unit’s display. 44 • Memorized positions are canceled when the unit is turned off or when the tray is opened. The memorized position on the play list is also canceled when the play list and title are edited.– Discs recorded on this unit cannot be played on other equipment...• Discs recorded on this unit must be finalized in order to play them on other equipment. Cannot mark the start point or the end point during “Shorten” operation...• The unit writes the chapter division information to the disc when you turn it off or remove the disc. The information is not written if there is an interruption in the power before this.– • These operations are not possible with still pictures. – • You cannot set points if they are too close to each other. You cannot set an end point before a start point.– Cannot erase chapters... • When the chapter is too short to erase, use “Combine Chapters” to make the chapter longer.53 The available recording time doesn’t increase even after erasing recordings on the disc...• Available recording space on the DVD-R does not increase even after erasing previously recorded titles.– Cannot create a play list... • You cannot select all the chapters at once in a title if the title also includes still pictures. This will not effect performance, etc.– The main unit is hot.• The main unit radiates heat and some of the parts may become hot. This is not a problem for performance or quality. Set up at a location with good ventilation. Do not cover the ventilation holes of the TV with a tablecloth etc., and do not place on top of other equipment.– HDMI Poor Video... You will need 6 speakers and, if a digital connection, an amp equipped with Dolby digital or DST recorder. (DVD playback only) Can I play DVD-Video, DVD-Audio and Video CDs purchased abroad?• You can play them if the video standard is NTSC. • A Only if the regional code includes “ALL” or “1”. Check the package. Can a DVD-Video that does not have a region number be played?• The DVD-Video region number indicates the disc conforms to a standard. You cannot play discs that do not have a region number. Can I use DVD-R and DVD-RW in this unit?• A Only a DVD-R that has been finalized can be used. Limited Warranty Limits And Exclusions This warranty ONLY COVERS failures due to defects in materials or workmanship, and DOES NOT COVER normal wear and tear or cosmetic damage, nor does it cover markings or retained images on the picture tube or LCD panel resulting from viewing fixed images (including, among other things, letterbox pictures on standard 4:3 screen TV’s, or non-expanded standard 4:3 pic tures on wide screen TV’s, or onscreen data in a stationary and fixed location). The warranty ALSO DOES NOT COVER damages which occurred in shipment, or failures which are caused by products not supplied by the warrantor, or failures which result from accidents, misuse, abuse, neglect, mishandling, misapplication, alteration, faulty installation, set-up ad just ments, misadjustment of consumer controls, improper maintenance, power line surge, lightning damage, modification, or commercial use (such as in a hotel, office, restaurant, or other business), rental use of the product, service by anyone other than a Factory Servicenter or other Authorized Servicer, or damage that is attributable to acts of God. THERE ARE NO EXPRESS WARRANTIES EXCEPT AS LISTED UNDER “LIMITED WARRANTY COVERAGE”. THE WARRANTOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT, OR ARISING OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY.
