      Q & A
    Question Answer
I want to enjoy 5.1 Ch surround sound of Dolby
digital, DST, etc. What equipment do I need?• A This unit alone is not enough. You will need 6 speakers and, if a digital connection, an amp
equipped with Dolby digital or DST recorder. (DVD playback only)
    Can I play DVD-Video, DVD-Audio and Video
CDs purchased abroad?• You can play them if the video standard is NTSC.
    • A Only if the regional code includes “ALL” or “1”. Check the package.
Can a DVD-Video that does not have a region
number be played?• The DVD-Video region number indicates the disc conforms to a standard. You cannot play discs that
do not have a region number.
Can I use DVD-R and DVD-RW in this unit?• A Only a DVD-R that has been finalized can be used. DVD-RW cannot be used.
    • This unit also record and plays 1×-4× recording speed DVD-R discs.
Can I use CD-R and CD-RW in this unit?• A CD-R and CD-RW recorded with finalized MP3 music will play. However, this unit does not allow
    CD-R and CD-RW recording.
Can I record from a video or outside DVD
source?• A Most video tape and DVD titles on the market are copy protected. In this case, recording is not
    possible.
Can I play DVD-Rs recorded on this unit on
other machines?• A Once a DVD-R recorded on this unit is finalized, it can be played on other DVD-R compatible
machines. (It is not guaranteed to work with all machines.) It may not play depending on recording
    conditions.
Can I record digital audio signals on this unit?• This is not possible.

Can I record from a commercially purchased
video cassette or DVD?• Most commercially sold video cassettes and DVD are copy protected; therefore, recording is usually
    not possible.
Can a digital audio signal during DVD playback
be recorded to other equipment?• You can record if using the PCM signal. When recording DVD, change the “Digital Audio Output”
settings to the following from the SETUP menu.

    - Dolby Digital: PCM
    - DTS: PCM
    However, only

    • Never use alcohol, paint thinner or benzine to clean this unit.
    • Before using chemically treated cloth, read the instructions for the cloth carefully.
