Light source/temperature/filter indicators
When an indicator lights up
If a problem occurs inside the projector, the light source indicators /, temperature indicator 
, or filter indicator  will inform you by lighting or blinking in red. Check the status of the 
indicators and take following measures.Attention
 f When switching of f the projector to deal with problems, make sure to follow the procedure in “Switching of f the projector” (x   page   68).

Maintenance/replacement
Before performing maintenance/replacement
 fMake sure to turn of f the power before maintaining or replacing the unit.
 fWhen switching of

f the projector, make sure to follow the procedures in “Switching off the projector” 
(x
  page   68).
Maintenance
Outer case
Wipe off dirt and dust with a soft, dry cloth.
 fIf the dirt is persistent, soak the cloth with water and wring it thorou\
ghly before wiping. Dry of

f the projector with 
a dry cloth.
 f Do not use benzene, thinner

, or rubbing alcohol, other solvents, or household cleaners. Doing so ma\
y 
deteriorate the outer case.
 f When using chemically treated dust cloths, follow the instructions writt\
en on its packaging.
Lens front surface
Wipe off dirt and dust from the front surface of the lens with a soft clean clo\
th.
 fDo not use a cloth that is fluf

fy, dusty, or soaked with oil/water.
 fSince the lens is fragile, do not use excessive force when wiping the lens.
Attention
 f The lens is made of glass. Impacts or excessive force when wiping may scratch its surface. Handle with care.
Maintenance of filter
The filter indicator  lights up in red in the following cases. Perform maintenance of the filter.
 fThe filter is clogged.
 fThe runtime of the filter exceeds the recommended time to replace the filter defined according to the setting in 
the [PROJECT

OR SETUP] menu → [FILTER SETTING]  → [FILTER TYPE].
This will not apply if the following two conditions are fulfilled.
 g The [PROJECT

OR SETUP] menu → [OPERATION SETTING]  → [OPERATING MODE] is set to anything 
other than [HIGH].
 g The [PROJECT

OR SETUP] menu → [FILTER SETTING]  → [FILTER TYPE] is set to [LONG LIFE].
Attention
 f Make sure to turn of f the power before performing maintenance of the filter. (x pages 58, 68) fMake sure that the projector is stable, and perform the maintenance in a safe place even if the filter falls accidentally .
Note
 fThe runtime of the filter can be checked in the [PROJECT OR SETUP] menu → [STATUS] → [FILTER COUNTER]. fAir filter replacement is recommended after cleaning the unit two times. fThe dust-proof properties may be reduced after each cleaning. fThe time until clogging of the air filter unit varies greatly depending on the usage environment. fThe Smoke Cut Filter (Model No.: ET-

SFR330) cannot be reused by performing maintenance. Replace with new one. ( x

For the air filter unit
The section describes the maintenance of the standard air filter unit attached to the projector.
This air filter unit is the same as the Replacement Filter Unit (Model No.: ET
-
 EMF330) (accessory/optional 
accessory).

1) Turn off the power of the projector.

Open the air filter cover
 . (Fig. 1)
 fUse a Phillips screwdriver to turn the air filter cover fixing screw counterclockwise until it turns freely , and 
open the air filter cover for approximately 90°.
 f Loosen the air filter cover fixing screw while holding the air filter cover with your hand.

Pull out the air filter unit.
i)

 
Pull out the air filter unit from the tabs on the projector body (c) while slightly pressing the grip on the air filter 
unit (a) inward as described with the arrow

Pull out the air filter unit.

 fWhen pulling out, confirm that the air filter unit comes of

f from the tabs on the projector body (d).
 fAfter pulling out the air filter unit, remove large foreign objects and dust from the air filter unit compartment 
and the air intake port of the projector body if there are any

 fWhen the air filter unit is removed, proceed to “Performing maintenance of the air filter unit” ( x

  page   198) 
next.
Attention
 f Take care not to touch the radiator fin, etc., when removing dirt or dust.

Performing maintenance of the air filter unit

1) Wash the air filter unit. (Fig. 1)

Soak the air filter unit in cold or warm water and then lightly rinse it\
.
 fDo not use cleaning tools such as brushes.
 fWhen rinsing, hold the frame of the air filter unit without putting strong pressure on the filter unit.
ii)

 
Rinse the air filter unit two to three times using fresh water each time\
.
 fInsufficient rinsing may result in odors.
2)

 
Dry the air filter unit. (Fig. 2)
 fLet the air filter unit naturally dry of

f in a well-ventilated place where there is little dust and is not exposed to 
direct sunlight.
 f Do not dry using drying devices such as dryers.
 fAfter the air filter is dried, proceed to “Attaching the air filter unit” ( x

  page   198) next.
Attention
 f After washing the air filter unit, dry it thoroughly before attaching it back to the projector .  Attaching a wet unit will cause an electric shock or 
malfunction.
 f Do not disassemble the air filter unit.
Note
 fReplace the air filter unit with a new Replacement Filter Unit (Model No.: ET- EMF330) (accessory/optional accessory) if it is damaged or if 
the dirt does not come off even after washing.

 fThe air filter unit has no dif

ference between top and bottom, but is two-sided. Match the protrusion position 
of the air filter unit with the grooves on the projector body.

 fHook the air filter unit frame at the bottom side to the tabs on the projector body (d), and perform Step  3)  in 
“Removing the air filter unit” ( x
  page   197) in the reverse order to attach.
 fConfirm that the tabs on the projector body (c) and (d) are hooked to the air filter unit frame.

Slide the air filter cover toward the direction of the arrow to close (\
Fig. 2), and tighten the air filter 
cover fixing screw using a Phillips screwdriver

.
 fWhen the air filter unit is attached to the projector

, proceed to “Resetting the filter counter” (x
  page   199) 
next.
Note
 f Make sure that the air filter unit is properly attached before using the projector . If it is not attached, the projector will suck in dirt and dust 
causing a malfunction.
 f When the projector is used without the air filter unit attached, the filter indicator  lights up in red.
Resetting the filter counter

 urn on the power of the projector.

Press the  button on the remote control or control panel.
 f The 

[MAIN MENU] screen is displayed.

 as to select [PROJECTOR SETUP].

Press the  button.
 f The

 as to select [FILTER SETTING].

OR SETUP] menu → [STATUS] → [FILTER COUNTER] is displayed as “0”.
Note
 f When the projector is used without resetting the filter counter , the actual filter runtime (counter numeric value) will not be able to be 
confirmed.
For the Long Life Filter Unit
This section describes the maintenance of the air filter unit when the optional Long Life Filter Unit (Model No.: 
ET
-
 EMFU330) is attached instead of the standard air filter unit attached to the projector .
The Long Life Filter Unit uses two of the same standard air filter units attached to the projector or the 
Replacement Filter Unit (Model No.: ET
-

EMF330) (accessory/optional accessory).

2) Remove the long life filter cover. (Fig. 1)
 fRemove the long life filter cover fixing screws (two locations at right and left) by turning them 
counterclockwise, and remove the long life filter cover from the long life filter mount clasp.
 fWhen loosening the long life filter cover fixing screws, hold the screws with your hand so they will not fall.

Remove the two air filter units from the long life filter cover
 . (Fig. 2)
 fThe method to remove the two air filter units is the same.
 fHold the outer frame of the air filter unit and pull out in the direction of the arrow .
 fAfter pulling out the air filter unit, remove large foreign objects and dust from the long life filter cover , air 
filter unit compartment and the air intake port of the projector body if there are any .
 fWhen the air filter unit is removed, proceed to “Performing maintenance of the air filter unit” ( x

  page   200) 
next.
Attention
 f Do not lose the two long life filter cover fixing screws that have been removed. fT
ake care not to touch the radiator fin, etc., when removing dirt or dust.
