    atmosphere.
    Creative Style Selects the image processing method.

    You can add the desired functions to your camera by connecting to the application 
    downloading website “PlayMemories Camera Apps” via the Internet.
    Allows you to make more detailed shooting settings, or change the camera settings.

    Deletes images.
    Still/Movie Select Allows you to determine how to group the playback images 
    (View mode).
    Slide Show Plays back images automatically.
    View on Smartphone Transfers the images to a Smartphone and displays them.
    Send to Computer Transfers the images to a computer that is connected to the 
    network for backup.
    View on TV Transfers the images to a TV that is connected to the 
    network for viewing.
    Specify Printing Selects the images to print, or makes printing settings.
    Image Index Selects the number of images to be displayed on the index 
    screen.
      Enlarge Image Enlarges the image.
    Rotate Rotates images.
    Protect Protects images, or cancels the protection.

    Live View Display Allows you to choose whether or not to show the value of  exposure compensation, etc. on the screen display.

    Sets the display time of the image right after shooting.
    Grid Line Turns on the grid line that helps you to adjust the 
    composition of images.
    Peaking Level Enhances the outline of in-focus ranges with a selected 
    color.
    Peaking Color Sets the color used for the peaking function.
    Clear Image Zoom Zooms an image with higher quality than Digital Zoom.
    Digital Zoom Zooms an image with higher magnification than Clear 
    Image Zoom. This feature can be also available in movie 
    recording.
    Self-portrait Self-timer (NEX-
    5R only) Sets the shooting mode when the LCD screen is tilted 
    upward about 180 degrees. When you set [Self-portrait Self-
    timer] to [On], a 3-second delay self-timer is activated, and 
    you can reduce the camera-shake when shooting self-
    portrait.
    S. Auto Image Extract. Sets whether or not to save all the images that were shot  continuously in [Superior Auto] mode.
    MF Assist Displays an enlarged image when focusing manually.
    MF Assist Time Sets the length of time the image will be shown in an 
    expanded form.
    Color Space Changes the range of color reproduction.
    SteadyShot Sets camera-shake compensation.
    Release w/o Lens Sets whether or not to release the shutter when there is no lens.
    Eye-Start AF Sets whether or not to use autofocus when you look through 
    an Electronic Viewfinder (sold separately for the NEX-5R) 
    with the LA-EA2 Mount Adaptor attached (sold separately).
    Front Curtain Shutter Sets whether or not to use the electronic front curtain shutter  function.
    Long Exposure NR Sets the noise reduction processing for long exposure 
    shootings.
    High ISO NR Sets the noise reduction processing for high ISO sensitivity 
    shootings.
    Lens Comp.: Shading Compensates for the shaded corners of the screen.
    Lens Comp.: Chro. Aber. Reduces the color deviation at the corners of the screen.
    Lens Comp.: Distortion Compensates for distortion of the screen.
    Face Priority Tracking Sets whether to preferentially-track a certain face or not  when the camera detects that face during object tracking.
    Auto Slow Shutter Sets whether or not to adjust the shutter speed automatically 
    during movie recording in case if the subject is dark.
    Movie Audio Rec Sets whether or not to record sound when recording a 
    movie.
    Wind Noise Reduct. Reduces wind noise during movie recording.

    Menu start Selects a first-displayed menu from the top menu or the last

    CTRL FOR HDMI Sets whether or not to operate the camera with a “BRAVIA”  Sync compatible TV’s Remote Control.
    USB Connection Selects the appropriate USB connection method for each  computer or USB device connected to the camera.
    Cleaning Mode Allows you to clean the image sensor.
    Calibration (NEX-5R only) Enables you to perform calibration when the touch panel  buttons do not react at the appropriate points where you 
    touch.
    Version Displays the versions of the camera and the lens/Mount  Adaptor.
    Demo Mode Sets whether or not to display the demonstration with  movies.
    Initialize Resets the camera to the default settings.

    Format Formats the memory card.
    File Number Selects the method to use to assign file numbers to still  images and MP4 movies.
    Folder Name Selects the folder name format in which the still image is  stored.

    * This setting appears when an Eye-Fi card is inserted in the camera.
    Select Shoot. Folder
    Selects the recording folder to which still images and MP4 
    movies are recorded.
    New Folder Creates a new folder to which still images and MP4 movies 
    are recorded.
    Recover Image DB Repairs the image database file when inconsistencies are 
    found.
    Display Card Space Displays the remaining recording time of movies and the 
    recordable number of still images on the memory card.

    Upload Settings Sets the upload function of the camera when an Eye-Fi card  is used.
    Network Settings
    WPS Push You can register the access point to the camera easily by pushing the WPS button.
    Access Point Settings You can register your access point manually.
    Edit Device Name You can change the device name under Wi-Fi Direct.
    Disp MAC Address Displays the MAC address of the camera.
    Reset View on Smartphone Resets the connecting information for [View on  Smartphone].

    Shooting images with the settings in effect when you bought the camera is explained 
    here.
    The camera makes decisions appropriate to the situation, and adjusts the settings.
     You can continuously record a movie for up to 29 minutes, and an MP4 format movie for up to 2 GB. The 
    recording time may shorten depending on the ambient temperatures or recording conditions.
    1 Adjust the LCD screen angle, and hold the camera.
    Or look through the viewfinder and hold the camera (NEX-6 only).
    The Scene Recognition function begins to work.
    2To take still images, press the shutter button halfway down to focus on 
    your subject, and press it fully down to shoot.
    When the camera detects and shoots a face, the captured image is automatically trimmed into 
    a suitable composition. Both the original and the trimmed images are saved (page 93).
    To record movies, press the MOVIE button to start recording.
    Press the MOVIE button again to stop recording.

    zOn Scene Recognition
     The camera recognizes  (Night Scene),  (Tripod Night Scene),  (Night Portrait), 
    (Backlight), (Backlight Portrait),  (Portrait), (Landscape), (Macro), (Spotlight),  (Low Brightness), or  (Baby), and displays the corresponding icon 
    and guide on the LCD screen when the scene is recognized.

    The Scene Recognition function lets the camera automatically 
    recognize the shooting conditions and allows you to shoot the 
    image with appropriate settings.

    The camera adjusts the focus and releases the shutter automatically when you simply 
    touch the subject that you want to focus on the screen. You can use the Touch Shutter 
    function when [Touch Shutter] is set to [On] in the MENU.
    Shooting still images using touch operation

    Touch   (Touch Shutter OFF) on the 
    screen.
     The icon changes to   (Touch Shutter ON) and the touch 
    shutter shooting becomes available.
    2 Point the camera to the subject, then touch 
    the subject that you want to focus on the 
    screen. 
     The Auto Focus area is displayed on the screen where you 
    touched it. When the focus is confirmed, the camera shoots 
    an image automatically.
    zTips for shooting a still image of a subject that is 
    difficult to focus on
     Focusing may be difficult in the following situations:– It is dark and the subject is distant.
    – The contrast between the subject and the background is poor.
    – The subject is seen through glass.
    – The subject is moving quickly.
    – The subject reflects light such as mirror, or has shiny surfaces.
    – The subject is flashing.
    – The subject is backlit.

    subject.

    When the camera cannot focus on the subject automatically, the 
    focus indicator blinks. Either recompose the shot or change the

    Touch Shutter: When you touch the screen, the camera focuses on the subject  automatically and releases the shutter automatically (page 84).
    Object Tracking: The camera focuses on the subject that you touch on the screen,  and continues to focus on even if the subject is moving.
    Center-weighted auto focus: A frame is displayed where you touch on the screen, and when  you press the shutter button halfway down, the subject within 
    the frame is in focus. To cancel the touch AF, touch   on the

    Plays back the recorded images.

    Press the   (Playback) button.
    2 Select the image with the control wheel.
    Or, slide your finger across the screen to the left or right (NEX-5R only).
    3 To play back panoramic images or movies, press the center of the control 
    wheel.

    * The movie is played back frame-by-frame.
     Panoramic images shot on other cameras may not be played back properly.

    zDisplaying a desired folder
    To select a desired folder, select the bar on the left of the 
    image index screen (page 61), and then press the top/
    bottom parts of the control wheel. You can switch 
    between still image playback and movie playback by 
    pressing the center of the control wheel.
    NEX-5R:
    You can also select a folder by touching the bar on the 
    left. You can switch between still image playback and 
    movie playback by touching the center of the bar.

    A portion of a still image can be enlarged during playback. This is convenient to check 
    the focus condition of a recorded still image. You can enlarge playback images from the 
    menu (page 125).
     You cannot use the enlarged playback function with movies.
     To enlarge panoramic images, pause the playback first, and then press  (Enlarge Image).

    Display the image you want to enlarge, and 
    then select   (Enlarge Image).
    2 Adjust the scaling by turning the control 
    wheel.
    Or, touch   or   on the screen (NEX-5R

    3 Select the portion you want to enlarge by 
    pressing the top/bottom/right/left of the 
    control wheel. 
    Or, select the portion you want to enlarge by 
    sliding your finger across the image (NEX-
    5R only).
    When you touch the image, the image is enlarged, 
    centering on the spot you touched (NEX-5R only).
    4To cancel the enlarged playback, select  .
