In this manual, we use the following conventions:
The names of keys and controls are given in the 
following typeface:

When the alphanumeric portion of the display 
shows a message, this is shown in the following

2 – Using the menu system
The CD-RW402 menu system is easy to use, and the 
different operations that can be performed all use the 
same method of working. This general guide to the 
way in which the menu system works on the unit will 
help you set up and use your CD-RW402 to maxi-
mum advantage.
There are two 
MENU keys, and two MULTI DIALs.

SYSTEM menu features
These features determine the settings for either the 
whole system, or for the individual drive on which 
the settings are made.
Dimmer settings
Individual settings for each drive.
The illumination level of the displays can be set 
using this menu option. Adjust this to suit the ambi-
ent lighting levels, personal preference, etc.

Only available from drive 1 and only applies to drive 
1.
The index marks in the CD subcode can be hidden or 
displayed.
When index marks are not displayed, the time dis-
play will look something like:

1POWER switch Use this to turn the unit on 
and off.
2Drive 1 display Shows track and playback 
information, etc. for drive 1, as well as the menu 
parameters and settings.
3Disc tray (1) Holds the disc for drive 1.
4MENU key (1) Press this in order to bring up 
the menu selections for drive 1.
5PITCH key and indicator  Press to light. 
When lit, and the pitch menu is set to a value other

JSTOP key (1) Stops playback on drive 1.
KPLAY key (1) Starts playback on drive 1.
LREADY key (1) Pauses playback on drive 1.
MCONT PLAY key and indicator When 
lit, allows continuous playback between drives 1 and 
2 (when 1 finishes, 2 starts, and so on).
NOPEN/CLOSE (2) Opens and closes the tray 
of drive 2.
OA-B COPY key Starts the copying process of 
data between points A and B between drives 1 and 2.

Digital connections These connections all han-
dle digital audio I/O.
kCOAXIAL INPUT and OUTPUT 
(DRIVE 2) 
These RCA connectors accept and 
transmit digital audio data to and from drive 2 
respectively in SPDIF format. 
The 
IN connector accepts AES3-1992 (TYPE I) as 
well as SPDIF (TYPE II) format data. The unit auto-
