Erasing tracks
It is possible to erase the last recorded track, the last 
two recorded tracks, the last three recorded tracks, 
etc. It is not, however, possible to erase tracks in the 
“middle” of the disc.
1With the disc loaded, and the unit in stop 
mode, press the

When discs containing CD TEXT are played back on 
the CD-RW402, you can view titles of discs and of 
artists (as explained in “Time display modes” on 
page 21).
In addition, drive 2 allows you to record your own 
disc and track titles and artists onto recordable discs.
Each disc can have a title and artist associated with it, 
as can each track on the disc.Remember that not

Entering characters using an external keyboard
NOTE
Always connect and disconnect the keyboard with the 
power to the CD-RW402 turned OFF. There is a risk of 
damage to the CD-RW402 if this connection is made or 
broken with the power turned on.
Set the keyboard type to either English (default) or 
Japanese (“Keyboard preferences” on page 15.
Type in letters and symbols using the keyboard.

8 – Copying discs
Copying discs is a slightly different process from 
recording discs.
Here are a few of the differences between putting a 
disc in drive 1 and recording it on drive 2, and mak-
ing a copy of it using the CD-RW402.
Copying a disc can take place at up to four times 
real speed (that is, 20 minutes of audio can be cop-
ied in five minutes of real time) at either 1x, 2x or 
4x speed.No volume or level processing is possible in copy 
operations, as it is in...

Disc copying and DAO
The CD-RW402 allows both disc copying and disc-
at-once (DAO) copying. The main differences 
between these two operations are explained here:
Disc copying
This operation allows the copying of audio discs 
(ISO 9660 discs are copied as disc-at-once). When 
such a copy is made, finalizing can be automatically 
performed after the disc copy has been made.

If a recordable disc with not enough space to hold the 
contents of the source disc is used, the display shows

As well as the automatic compare operation follow-
ing a copy as explained above, it is also possible to 
compare two finalized CD-ROMs at any time.
1With the finalized disc in drive 2 and the 
original in drive 1, press
