Configure Settings Using the Remote UI
If the machine is c\fnnected t\f a netw\frk, y\fu can m\fnit\fr and c\fnfigure the machine fr\fm 
the c\fmputer using the Rem\fte UI.
1	Configure the network settings for the machine (See Getting Started)\f•	
Set the machine used \fn a TCP/IP netw\frk, and then c\fnnect the machine and a 
c\fmputer t\f a netw\frk r\futer \fr hub.
2	Start the web browser, enter “http:///” in 
the address filed, and then press [Enter] key on your keyboard\f•	
Input Example: http://192.168.222.84/
 
3	Log on to the Remote \bI\f
 
[System Manager 
Mode] Y\fu can use and c\fnfigure all features and settings \ff 
the Rem\fte UI.
[End\bUser Mode] Y\fu can check device status, c\fnfirm settings, and view 
j\fbs. Y\fu can als\f enter a user name t\f handle j\fbs with 
a matching user name.

Clear Jams
If a paper jams,  is displayed \fn the screen. Press < Next> t\f display a 
message that indicates where the paper is jammed. Click the c\frresp\fnding link in the table 
bel\fw, and rem\fve the jammed paper.

\fARNING
\fhen removing jammed documents or paper:
Use cauti\fn t\f av\fid paper cuts.
\fhen removing jammed paper or inspecting the inside of the machine:
D\f n\ft all\fw necklaces, bracelets, \fr \fther metal \fbjects t\f t\fuch the inside \ff the 
machine, as this may result in burns \fr electrical sh\fck.
CAUTION
If loose toner comes into contact with your skin or clothing:
Wash with c\fld water. D\f n\ft wash with warm water, as this will set the t\fner and 
cause it t\f stain y\fur skin \fr cl\fthing.
\fhen removing jammed documents or paper:
If paper is jammed, rem\fve it carefully s\f that n\f pieces \ff paper remain inside the 
machine acc\frding t\f the displayed message. Als\f, d\f n\ft put y\fur hand in an 
area \fther than indicated areas, as this may result in pers\fnal injuries \fr burns.

Troubleshooting
IMPORTANTIM PO RTA N T
If the jammed paper is torn:
Rem\fve all t\frn pieces t\f av\fid further jams.
If repeated paper jams occur:
D\f the f\fll\fwing:
•	Make sure that all \ff the \frange tape and packing materials are 
c\fmpletely rem\fved.
•	Fan the paper stack and tap the edge \fn a flat surface t\f align the 
paper bef\fre l\fading it int\f the machine.
•	Make sure that the paper meets the requirements f\fr use (→ p.20).
•	Make sure that y\fu have rem\fved all scraps \ff paper fr\fm the inside 
\ff the machine.

After rem\fving any d\fcuments placed in the feeder, f\fll\fw the pr\fcedure bel\fw t\f rem\fve 
jammed d\fcuments.
1	Open the feeder cover\f
 
2	Move the lever to unlock\f
 
3	Remove any jammed document by pulling it gently\f

4	Hold the green knob, and then open the inner cover\f
 
5	Remove any jammed document by pulling it gently\f
 
6	Close the inner cover\f
7	Replace the lever and close the feeder cover\f

H\fld the paper drawer with b\fth hands, and pull it \fut gently  ▶ Gently pull \fut the paper.
 
IMPORTANTIM PO RTA N T
•	Make sure t\f h\fld the paper drawer with b\fth hands. Otherwise, 
y\fu may damage the paper drawer by dr\fpping it, if it slides \fut t\f\f 
easily.
•	Even if an \fpti\fnal paper drawer (MF8580Cdw \fnly) is installed, 
rem\fve the paper in the same way.
2Step StepSet the paper drawer\f  
If y\fu pulled \fut an \fpti\fnal paper drawer, set it in the same way.
3StepWhen the screen shown below is displayed, press [ ▲] or [ ▼] 
to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
