    Maintenance
     W\bRNING
Do not dispose of a used toner cartridge in an open
    fla\fe.
This may ignite the toner remaining inside th\Ie cartridge,
    resulting in burns or fire.
     C\bUTION
Precautions if you get toner on your hands or
    clothing
If toner gets on your hands or clothi\Ing, wash them
    immediately with cold water.
Washing with warm water sets the toner, making it
im\bossible to remove the toner stains
Be careful not to scatter the toner.
    Do not \bull out the se\Ialing ta\be forcefully or sto\b \bulling
the ta\be halfway, as this may cause toner to s\bill out.
If toner gets into your eyes or mouth, wash t\Ihem
immediately with cold water and consult a \bhysician.
Precautions when closi\Rng the front cover
Be careful not to catch your fingers.
8 Remove the drum protective cover (A).
    * Kee\b the drum \brotective cover. You will need them wh\Ien you
remove the toner cartridge for machine maintenance or other
    \bur\boses.
    	 		(A)
    9 Inst\fll the toner c\frtridge.
Be careful not to let the drum im\bac\It the frame of the\I toner
    cartridge tray.

    10 Push the toner c\frtridge tr\fy b\fck in.
    11 Close the front cover.
If you cannot close the fr\Ront cover
Make sure that the toner cartridge tray is closed.
Do not try to forcefully close the fr\Iont cover, as this may damage
    the machine.
    Precautions when Replac\Ring Toner Cartridge
    See “Maintenance and Ins\bections” (→P.xviii) in “Im\bortant
    Safety Instructions” as well.

Be Careful of Counterfeit Toner Cartridges
Please be aware that there are counterfeit Canon toner cartridges
    in the market\blace.
Use of counterfeit toner cartridges may result in \boor \brint quality
    or machine \berformance.
Canon is not res\bonsible for any malfunction, accident or \Idamage
caused by the use of counterfeit toner cartridges.
For more information, see the following website.
    htt\b://www.canon.com/counterfeit
Shake the toner cartridge before setting
If toner is not distributed evenly, this may result in a deterioration in
    \brint quality.
    Hold the toner cartridges properly
When handling the t\Ioner cartridges, hold them \bro\berly as shown
in the figure. Do not \blace them vertically or u\bside-down.

This may result in damage to the machine.
    (A)(A)
    Precautions when insta\Rlling toner cartridges
The \bosition of the \Itoner cartridges in the \brinter is determined
by the toner color. Install the toner cartridges in the slots \Ithat have
    labels of the same \Icolor.
Do not leave the front cover open for a long ti\fe with\R
    the toner cartridges installed.
This may result in a deterioration in \brint quality.
    \bfter replacing toner cartridges
To maintain image q\Iuality, it is recommended to \berform
    automatic gradation adjustment\I.

    e-Manual → Maintenance → Adjusting → Correcting the
    Gradation → Making Full Adjustment
    Miscellaneous precautions
    • Do not ex\bose the toner cartridge to direct sunlight or strong
    light.
    • Never disassemble or m\Iodify it.
    • Condensation may form in and on the toner cartridge if it is
brought into an environment that ex\boses\I it to sudden changes
in tem\berature and/or humidity. If you move the toner cartridge
to a location that i\Is warmer or has higher \Ihumidity, leave the
cartridge in the new location for two hours or longer w\Iithout
o\bening the \brotective bag to allow it to adjust to the new
    tem\berature.
     NOTE
    \bbout the packing \faterials
The \backing materials may be changed in form or \blacement, or \I
may be added or removed without notice.
    If is set to
    You can kee\b \brinting fax document\Is or re\borts without re\blacing
a toner cartridge. However, the \brinted documents may be light
or blurred because of lack \Iof toner. The data is erased \Iwhen
the documents are \brinted out, so you cannot \brint the same
    documents again.

Canon	has	instituted	a	worldwide	recycling	program	for	cartridges	called	“The	Clean	Earth	Campaign”.
This	program	preserves	precious	natural	resources	\fy	utilizing	a	variety	of	materials	found	in	the	used

    ● THE Canon C\bRTRIDGE RECYCLING PROGR\bM
The	Canon	Cartridge	Recycling	Program	fulfills	the	first	initiative	of	Canon’s	Clean	Earth	Campaign,	which
    supports	four	critical	environmental	areas:
    • Recycling	in	the Workplace
    • Conserving	Environmental	Resources
