    RemovingandReplacingthePowerSupply
    Thepowersuppliesintheserverarehot-swappable;thatis,ifonepowersupplystopsworking
    orexhibitsvoltageproblems,theremainingsupplycansupporttheserveruntilthefailedunit
    isreplaced.Apowersupplycanberemovedandreplacedwithoutturningofftheserveron
    serversthatcontaintwopowersupplies.
    CAUTION:Beforeremovingapowersupply,makesurethesecondpowersupplyfunctions
    properly.ThetwogreenLEDsinsidethesupplymustbothbelitonthesecondsupplybefore
    thefailedpowersupplycanbesafelyremoved.

    TheHP9000rp3410orrp3440servercansupportuptothreehot-pluggable,Low-Voltage
    Differential(LVD)harddiskdrives.Theseharddiskdrivesare3.5-inchformfactordevicesthat
    connecttoUltra160WideLVDSCSIinterfacesonthediskcagebackplane.
    Thereisasignificantdifferencebetweenthetermshot-swappableandhot-pluggable:
    •Hot-swappinghappensatthedevicelevel;thatis,ahot-swappabledevicemanagesinsertion
    orremovalonitsownwithoutassistancefromoperatingsystemcommands.
    •Thehot-plugprocessenablesyoutoreplaceadefectivediskdriveinahigh-availability
    serverwhileitisrunning.
    CAUTION:ThediskdrivesinHP9000rp3410andrp3440serversarenothot-swappable;they
    arehot-pluggable.Tosafelyremoveorinsertdiskdriveswhiletheserverisrunning,youmust
    performamanualsoftwareprocedure.Toavoiddamagetotheharddrives:
    •Seethedocumentationprovidedwiththedriveforadditionaldetailsoninsertingorremoving
    adiskdrive.
    •SeeyourOSdocumentationforinstructionsonpreparingtheOSforinsertingorremoving
    aharddrive.
    RemovingaHardDiskDrive
    Toremoveaharddiskdrive,followthesesteps:
    1.IftheserverispoweredonandtheOSisrunning,preparetheOStohavethediskdrive
