Recording Mode: 
When [iHDR] is set to [ON] and there is, for example, strong contrast between the 
background and the subject, multiple still pict ures are recorded with differing exposures 
and combined to create a single still picture rich in gradation.
[iHDR] works automatically as needed. When it does, [ ]  is displayed on the screen.

Recording Mode: 
You can easily set the blurriness of t he background while checking the screen.
1Press the rear dial to display the setting screen.
•Each time the rear dial is pressed in Intelligent Auto Plus Mode, the camera switches 
among brightness setting operation (P83), Defocus Control operation, and normal 
operation.

This mode enables you to change the brightness and  color tone to your preferred settings 
from the ones set by the camera.

Taking Pictures with Your Favorite Settings 
(Program AE Mode)
Recording Mode: 
The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and the aperture value according to the 
brightness of the subject.
You can take pictures with greater freedom  by changing various settings in the [Rec] 
menu.

In Program AE Mode, you can change the pres et aperture value and shutter speed without 
changing the exposure. This is called Program Shift.
You can make the background more blurred by  decreasing the aperture value or record a 
moving subject more dynamically by slowing the shutter speed when taking a picture in 
Program AE Mode.

Taking Pictures by Specifying the Aperture/

When you want to take a sharp picture of a fast moving subject, set with a faster shutter

Manual Exposure Assistance
•
The Manual Exposure Assistance is an approximation. We recommend checking the pictures 
on the playback screen.
∫ About [B] (Bulb)
If you set the shutter speed to [B], the shutter stays open while the shutter button is 
pressed fully (up to about 120 seconds).
The shutter closes if you release the shutter button.
Use this when you want to keep the shutter  open for a long time to take pictures of 
fireworks, a night scene etc.
