    Applicable modes: 
    If you set the name and birthday of your baby or pet in advance, you can record their name 
    and age in months and years in the images.
    You can display these at playback or stamp the recorded images  using [Text Stamp] 
    (P249) .

    Select the luminance range to match the use of video.
    Settings: [0s255]/[16s235]/[16s 255]
    Applicable modes: 
    Time code represents the recording time by the units of hour, 
    minute, second and frame, and can be used as a time scale 
    for editing motion pictures.
    This unit automatically records time code during motion 
    picture recording.
    • Time codes are not recorded on motion pictures recorded when  the [Rec Format] is set to [MP4].
    [Luminance Level]
    > [Motion Picture]  > [Luminance Level]
    • This function works only for motion pictures. Still pictures ( including those you take during 
    motion picture recording) will be taken with [0 s255].
    • When [Rec Format] is set to [AVCHD] or [MP4], [0-255] in [Lumi nance Level] will switch to 
    [16-255].
    [Time Code]
    > [Motion Picture]  > [Time Code]
    [Time Code Display]Set whether or not the time code is displayed on the recording 
    screen/playback screen.
    [ON]/[OFF]
    [Count Up]
    Sets the time code count method.
    [REC RUN]:
    Counts the time code only when recording motion pictures.
    [FREE RUN]:
    Counts the time code even when not recording (including when 
    this unit is turned off).
    • In the following cases, [Count Up] will be fixed to  [REC RUN]:
    – When [Slow/Quick] is set
    – When [Dolly Zoom] is set
    – When [Variable Frame Rate] is set

    ∫Conditions for outputting a time code to HDMI output
    A time code is output to video from the HDMI output only when a ll the following conditions 
    are satisfied.
    [Time Code Value]
    Sets the start point (starting time) for the time code.
    [Reset]:
    Sets to 00:00:00:00 (hour: minute: second: frame)
    [Manual Input]:
    Manually input hour, minute, second and frame.
    [Current Time]:
    Sets hour, minute and second to current time and sets frame to 
    00.
    [Time Code Mode]
    Sets the time code recording method.
    [DF] (Drop Frame):
    The camera modifies the difference between recorded time and 
    time code. This method is used for producing TV Programs and 
    other situations where an exact time period needs to be recorde d.
    • Seconds and frames are separated by “.”. (Example: 00:00:00.00 )
    [NDF] (Non-Drop Frame):
    Records the time code without drop frame. Used in image 
    production, etc.
    • Seconds and frames are separated by “:”. (Example: 00:00:00:00)
    • The setting is fixed to [NDF] in the following cases.
    – When [System Frequency] is set to [50.00 Hz (PAL)] or [24.00 Hz  (CINEMA)]
    – When the recording frame rate for motion pictures is set to  [2 4p]  in 
    [Rec Quality]
    [HDMI Time Code 
    Output]
    Generates time code for images output through HDMI.
    [ON]/[OFF]
    • [HDMI Time Code Output] can only be set in Creative Video Mode .
    • When using the HDMI output and outputting videos that do not 
    include time codes (e.g., when [Rec Format] is set to [MP4]), a  time 
    code will not be output.
    • When set to [ON], the device screen may go dark de pending on the 
    connected device.
    In recording
    • When [HDMI Time Code Output] is set to  [ON].
    • In Creative Video Mode.
    • When [Rec Format] is set to [AVCHD], [MP4  (LPCM)] or [MOV].
    In playback
    • When [HDMI Time Code Output] is set to [ON].
    • When playing back a motion picture recorded  with Creative Video Mode.
    • When [HDMI Mode (Play)] in [TV Connection]

    Applicable modes: 
    The shutter speed can be fixed to reduce the flicker or striping in the motion picture.
    Settings: [1/50]/[1/60]/[1/100]/[1/120]/[OFF]
    Applicable modes: 
    You can record motion pictures while hearing the sounds that ar e being recorded by 
    connecting a commercially available headphones to this unit.
    A Commercially available headphone
    • Do not use the headphone cables with the length of 3 m (9.8 feet ) or more.
    • When headphones are connected, electronic sounds and electroni c shutter sounds are muted.
    ∫Switch the sound output method
    • The sound level you set in [Mic Level Adj.] is displayed as a  mic level.
    • If you use the HDMI output during recording, the setting is fi xed to [REC SOUND].

    Display the microphone level on the recording screen.

    • When [Mic Level Limiter] is set to [OFF], [Mic Level Disp.] is fixed to [ON].

    Adjust the sound input level to 19 different levels (j12 dB to  i6dB).
    • Displayed dB values are approximate.
    Applicable modes: 
    The camera adjusts the sound input level automatically, minimiz ing the sound distortion 
    (crackling noise) when the volume is too high.

    Applicable modes: 
    This will reduce the wind noise coming into the built-in microphone while maintaining 
    sound quality.
    Settings: [HIGH]/[STANDARD]/[OFF]
    • [HIGH] effectively reduces the wind noise by minimizing the lo w-pitched sound when a strong 
    wind is detected.
    • [STANDARD] extracts and reduces only the wind noise without de teriorating the sound quality.
    • You may not see the full effect depending on the recording con ditions.
    • This function works only with the built-in microphone. When an external microphone is connected, [Wind Cut] is displayed.
    Applicable modes: 
    Coupled to the zoom operation, i t will clearly record far sounds with tele, and surrounding 
    sounds with wide.

    • When set to [ON] and performing zoom, the operation sound may be recorded enhanced in 
    accordance with the surrounding sounds. Also, audio recording l evel will be lower compared 
    to when [OFF].
    • The stereo effect of the audio is reduced when the picture is  enlarged.
    • This function works only with the built-in microphone.

    Applicable modes: 
    You can display color bars, which is convenient for adjusting settings such as the picture 
    quality of an external monitor. When you display color bars, a test tone will also be output.
    • The brightness and color tone that appear on the camera’s moni tor or viewfinder may differ 
    from those that appear on another device such as an external mo nitor.
    Check the final picture quality on another device such as an ex ternal monitor.
    • Color bars will be displayed and a test tone will be output.
    • You can set the test tone level from among three options ( s12 dB,  s18 dB, and  s20 dB) by 
    rotating the rear dial.
    • If you press the motion picture button, the color bars and the  test tone will be recorded as a 
    motion picture.
    • Press [MENU/SET] to stop displaying the colour bars and output ting the test tone.

    • If you press [MENU/SET] while recording color bars as a motion picture, the color bars will 
    disappear, but you can continue the recording. This operation a llows you to record color bars 
    in the beginning of a motion picture.
    • If you assign [Color Bars] to [Fn Button Set]  (P55) in the [Custom] menu, each time you press 
    the function button to which the setting is assigned, you can d isplay or hide color bars. In this 
    operation, the color bars you used last time will be displayed.
    Not available in these cases:• [Color Bars] cannot be used in the following cases.

    [AF/AE Lock]
    Sets the fixed content for focusing and exposure when the 
    AF/AE lock is on. P102
    [AF/AE Lock Hold]When [ON] is selected, focus and exposure stays locked 
    even if you press and release [AF/AE LOCK]. Press the 
    button again to cancel the lock.

    Set whether or not the focus is adjusted automatically 
    when the shutter button is pressed halfway.
