    Basic Operation
    Projecting
    Check the connections of the peripheral devices and connection of the power cord (Æpage 36) and switch on the 
    power (Æpage 38) to start the projector. Select the image and adjust the state of the image.
    Selecting the image
    Select an input signal.
    Side Control/Remote Control Operation J
    You can press the  button on the side control or the remote control to select INPUT 1/2/3 as input 
    source.
    Remote Control Operation J
    Press the , , or  button on the remote control. Each time you press the  button, the input signal will be changed. 
    Attention
    Images may not be projected properly depending on the connected device a\
    nd DVD, video tape, etc. to be played. Select a  z
    system format that is suitable for the input signal [Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr ] or [RGB] in the [Input] menu (Æpage 50).
    Check the aspect ratio of the screen and the image and select the optimu\
    m aspect ratio under the [Screen] menu  z
    (Æpage 59).
    Adjusting the image
    Adjusting the position of the lens J
    Press the  button on the remote control or the  button on the side control.1 ) 
    [Lens shift] is displayed on the screen for four seconds. z
    While the display appears, press ▲▼2 ) ◄► to move the image horizontally and vertically.
    As you move the image, there is a certain position at which the arrows p\
    ointing up, down, left and right turn red. This  z
    position is the center for the lens.
    At positions of maximum shift, the arrows disappear. z
    The projector stores the setting made using the lens shift function when\
     the power is turned off. z
    When the position of the image is shifted, the image may become a little\
     darker. z
    Press and hold the  button or  button for more than 5 \
    seconds, the lens shift will be return to the  z
    center position.
    The figure below shows an example of when the standard lens is attached.
    Adjusting the zoom and focus J
    Press the  button and the  button on the remote control.1 ) 
    [Zoom] and [Focus] are displayed on the screen for four seconds. z
    While the display appears, press ▲▼ to adjust the zoom and focus.2 ) 
    Note
    When [Display] is set to [Off], the adjustment screen will not appear. z
    It is recommended that the images are projected continuously for at leas\
    t 30 minutes before the focus is adjusted. z
    The display position can be shifted upward up to 60% elevation of the display.
    When the lens is shifted to top.When the lens is shifted to bottom.
    When the lens is shifted to leftmost.When the lens is shifted to rightmost.
    The display position can be shifted downward up to 60% low level of the display.
    The display position can be shifted to the left in up to 10% width of the display.
    The display position can be shifted to the right in up to 10% width of the display.

    Using the SHUTTER/ AV 
    MUTE button

    block out light to the screen.

    Press the < AV MUTE> button on the remote control 
    to black out the image. To restore to normal, press the

    Note
    When use the  button to release the [ zAV mute] 
    function, the mute function cannot be operated at the 
    same time.
    Switching the input signal
    You can switch the input signals to project.

    Press the  button or the // button on the 
    remote control.
    The input source changes each time you press the 
     button as follows:
    Input 1 --> Input 2 --> Input 3 --> ...
    The input source changes each time you press the 
    // button as follows:

    Whether the input search function is available or not  z
    after you pressed the  button, it depends on the 
    setting of the [Input button] in the Setting menu.

    Basic Operation
    Using the MENU button
    This function allows you to open or close the On-
    Screen Menu.

    Controlling the volume of the 
    speaker
    You can control the volume of the projector’s speaker 
    or audio output.

    or on the remote control to adjust the volume. The 
    volume dialog box appears on the screen for a few 
    seconds.

    Using the IMAGE SELECT

    This function allows you to operate the image 
    selection directly.

    Press this button on the remote control to temporarily 
    turn off the sound.

    Using the P-TIMER button
    Press the  button on the remote control to 
    operate the Count up/Count down function.

    To cancel the [P-timer] function, press and hold the

    Using the ECO button
    Press this button to display the Eco management 
    menu.

    Using the SCREEN button
    This function allows you to select screen mode or 
    change the screen size.

    Using the FREEZE function
    You can freeze the projected image and stop the 
    sound temporarily, regardless of the playing condition 
    of the connected device.

    Press the  button on the remote control to 
    freeze the picture on the screen, meanwhile, volume 
    is muted. To cancel the Freeze function, press the 
     button again or press any other button.
    Fig.1 will appear on the screen while the Freeze 
    function is working.

    Using the D.ZOOM button
    This function allows you to enter to the Digital zoom 
    +/– mode.

    Using the LENS SHIFT button
    This function allows you to position the screen to the 
    desired point without having picture distortion.

    button for more than 5 seconds, the lens shift will be

    Basic Operation
    Using the KEYSTONE button
    This function allows you to correct keystone distortion.

    For EW530 series and EX500  J
    series.
    Press the  button on the remote 
    control. The Keystone dialog box appears. Press 
    ▲▼ to correct keystone distortion. The keystone 
    adjustment can be stored (Æpage 60).

    Press the  button on the remote control

    Press ▲▼◄► to correct the Standard or Corner 
    distortion. The [Standard] or [Corner correction] 
    adjustment can be stored. (Æpage 60)

    Press the  button on the remote control 
    to switch [Corner correction] adjustment, press the 
     button on the remote control to select the 
    corner you want to adjust.
    The top left corner adjustment as an example:
    Note
    The white arrows indicate that there is no correction. z
    A red arrow indicates the direction of correction. z
    An arrow disappears at the maximum correction. z
    If you press and hold the  button for  z
    3 seconds or more , the keystone adjustment will be 
    canceled (Æpage 60).
    The adjustable range is limited depending on the input  z
    signal.
    [Standard] and [Corner correction] functions cannot  z
    be adjusted at the same time. If one of the functions 
    is adjusted, and then the other one will be reset 
    automatically.

    Using the ZOOM +/- buttons

    The Main Menu screen appears.
    Press ▲▼ to select the Main Menu 2 ) 
    item.
    Select the desired item from the 9 items: [Input], 
    [PC adjust], [Image select], [Image adjust], 
    [Screen], [Sound], [Setting], [Information] and 
    [Network]. The selected item is highlighted with an 
    orange cursor and the submenu of the selected 
    item appears on the right.
    Press ► or the  button.3 ) 
    The submenu appears so that you can select the 
    sub-menu item.
    Press ▲▼ to select the desired sub-4 )

     JComputer System Selection
    This projector automatically tunes to various types 
    of computers with its Multi-scan system and Auto 
    PC Adjustment. If a computer is selected as a signal 
    source, this projector automatically detects the signal 
    format and tunes to project a proper image without 
    any additional settings. (Signal formats provided in 
    this projector are shown on pages 109 -113.)
          When the projector cannot recognize the                                                                                                                                              
                    connected signal conforming to the                         
                   provided PC Systems, Auto is displayed  
                   on the System Menu box and the Auto PC  
                  adjustment function works to display proper  
                   images.  If the image is not projected   
                   properly, a manual adjustment is required.
                    There is no signal input from the computer.                                                                                                                                        
                    Check the connection between your                                                                                                                                             
                    computer and the projector.
                    The preset system is manually adjusted in                                                                                                                                               
                    the PC adjust Menu. The adjusted data can                                                                                                                                              
                    be stored in Mode 1-10. 
                    PC Systems provided in this projector                                                                                                                                        
                    is chosen. The projector chooses a proper                                                                                                                                           
                    system provided in the projector and                                                                                                                                              
                    displays it.

    The projector automatically detects an incoming video 
    system, and adjusts itself to optimize its performance.
    When Video System is [PAL-M] or [PAL-N], select the 
    system manually.

    If the projector cannot reproduce proper video image, 
    select a specific broadcast signal format from among 
    [PAL], [SECAM], [NTSC], [NTSC 4.43], [PAL-M] and 
    [PAL-N].
