    Installing the Phone
    Installing the Handset Battery
    NO TE: Y ou must connect the handset bat ter y befor e use.

    A UTION: T o reduce the risk of r e or personal injur y, use only the Telefield NA Inc.
    Inc. appr oved Nick el-metal Hy dride (Ni-MH) batt ery Model  T-2 734 , which is 
    compatible with this unit .
    1.  Locate batte ry which is packaged inside a plastic bag and is separate fr om the 
    handset .
    2.   Locate the batte ry compa rtment on the back of the handset .
    3.   Plug the batter y pack cord into the jack inside the compar tment.
    NO TE: T o ensur e proper batt ery installation, the connect or is keyed and can be 
    inser ted only one w ay.
    4.  Inser t the batter y pack.
    5.   Close the batte ry compa rtment by placing the handset back cov er slightly higher than 
    the handset and then sliding the co ver down into position.
    6.   Place cor dless handset in  remote cha rger . The char ge indicator illuminates, v erifying 
    the batter y is charging.
    7.   Allow the phone to cha rge for 14 hour s prior to rst use. If you don’t pr operly char ge 
    the phone, batte ry per formance is comp romised.
    NO TE: If the model y ou bought is a RE2 v ersion, ther e is one additional char ger. 
    Plug the pow er supply cor d into the pow er jack on the back of the char ger and 
    the other end int o an electrical outlet . Place handset in the char ger, the char ge 
    indicat or illuminat es, verifying the batt ery is char ging.
    CA UTION: T o reduce risk of per sonal injury, re, or damage use only the   
    T -8BXD  (charger) pow er adaptor listed in the user ’s guide. This pow er 
    adapt or is int ended to be corr ectly orientat ed in a vertical or oor mount 
    position.

    Base S tation
    The phone may be connected to t wo line (R J14C) wall jacks to accommodate all tw o lines.
    1.   Choose an ar ea near an electrical outlet and a telephone w all jack (RJ11C), and place 
    y our cor dless telephone on a le vel sur face, such as a desk top or tabletop, or you may 
    mount it on the  wall.
    2.   Install 5 AAA-size alkaline batteries (not included) for back up pow er in the event of a 
    pow er failur e. 
    •    Inser t a at -head scr ew driver or similar  object into the batter y door latch and gently 
    pr y upw ard to r elease the batte ry door fr om the base.
    •    Inser t the batteries inside the batte ry compa rtment as shown on the diagram. 
    •    Snap the batter y compartment door back into place.
    NO TE: If the low batt ery icon appear s in the display, y ou need to replace the 
    batt eries. It is impor tant that you replace them as soon as possible t o maintain 
    unit operation when electrical po wer is off . As a pr ecaution, y ou may want to 
    writ e down any s tor ed information y ou do not want erased.
    IMP ORTANT : If you ar e not going t o use the telephone for mor e than 30 days, 
    r emov e the batt eries because they can leak and damage the unit .
    3.   Plug the pow er supply cord into the po wer jack on the back of the base and the other 
    end into an electrical outle t.

    T -2 757  (base) pow er adaptor listed in the user ’s guide. This pow er adaptor 
    is int ended t o be corr ectly orientat ed in a vertical or oor mount position.
    4.   Connect the telephone line co rds: 
      If you hav e 2 single-line  wall jacks installed in  your home or ofce, y ou can use 
    adaptor s/couple rs (not included) to combine the 2 single telephone lines into 1 dual 
    lines. The adaptor/coupler may look similar to the one pictur ed here and can be 
    pur chased f rom y our local telephone p roducts r etailer.

      Or, y ou can use  the 2 single telephone lines plug into the 2 jacks on the back of the 
    telephone.
      If you hav e Line 1 and Line 2 wi red into one  wall jack in y our home or ofce, y ou can 
    use one of the supplied telephone line co rds to connect fr om the wall jack to the   
    Line 1 + 2 jack on the back of the phone as shown below .

    5.   If y ou w ant to mount the telephone on the  wall, y ou can plug the 2 lines such as the 
    below drawing;

    6.  Connect the handset co rd: 
      Connect one end of the coiled handset co rd to the jack on the side of the base and the 
    other end into the jack in the handse t, and place the handset in the cradle.

    Programming the Phone 
    Standby Scr een
    The handset displays the handset name and numbe r, date, time, and batter y status and 
    the thr ee Soft k eys.
    The base displays the cur rent date, time and the Soft k eys.
    NO TE: The Soft k eys will change acco rding t o the status of the unit .
    NO TE: The base L CD has a dedicat ed “SET CLOCK” icon ashing when the clock 
    is not set . Please go t o menu “Phone Setting- Dat e /Time” to set the clock .
    Programming Functions
    The system uses a menu st ructur e to giv e you access to all of the built -in features. You 
    may pr ogram the following items in main menu: Phone Setting, Display Setting, Sound 
    Setting, Answ ering System and  Restor e Setting.
    NO TE: During p rogramming, y ou may press the BA CK Soft key (left) at any time 
    t o exit the sub-menu and  return t o the main menu, or pr ess exit key to exit 
    pr ogramming and r eturn to standby scr een.
    NO TE: If  no key  is pressed  for 30  seconds, the  handset or base  will automatically 
    exit pr ogramming and r eturn to standby scr een.
    Phone Setting
    1.  Mak e sur e your phone is  OFF (not in T alk mode).
    2.   Pr ess the  menu button on  handset or the MENU Soft key (left) on  base to go to the 
    main menu.
    3.   Pr ess  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Phone S etting.
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key (right) to con rm and you may program the following items: 
    Date/Time (base only), 
    Auto Answ er (handset only), 
    Auto Answ er Intercom (both base and handset), 
    Dial Mode (base only), 
    Ar ea Code (base only), 
    R egistration (handset only), 
    De-R egistration (base only),
    2nd Call Aler t (both base and handset), 
    Handset Name (handset only),
    Update  Handset  List (base only).

    Dat e/Time
    From the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Date/Time .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. The scr een displays  Year 2009 . 
    3.   Use the touch-tone pad to enter the last t wo digits of the curr ent year (range: 00 to 99).
    4.   Pr ess  SAVE Soft k ey to sa ve the y ear setting and pr oceed to date setting.
    5.   The scr een displays Date  01/01. Use the touch-tone pad to enter tw o digits for current 
    month and day  respecti vely (format: mm /dd).
    6.   Pr ess  SAVE Soft k ey to sa ve the month/date setting and pr oceed to time setting.
    7.   Time  12:00A  shows in the display. Use the touch-tone pad to enter four digits for 
    curr ent time and use Soft  key  AM/PM  to toggle betw een “P” (pm) and  “A ” (am).
    8.   Pr ess  SAVE Soft k ey to sa ve the setting. The sc reen displays  Saved.
    NO TE:  If you subscribe t o Caller ID service, the current Date/Time is set 
    aut omatically when  you r eceiv e your r st CID r ecord and will ov erride manually 
    set Dat e/Time.  How ever the Y ear must still be set manually.  The Y ear 
    information is not in the CID r ecord.
    NO TE: The Dat e/Time setting it em only exists in base menu, handset Dat e/Time 
    should updat e automatically aft er it is set in the base.
    Auto Answ er (only applicable for  cordless handset)
    This option allows you to pick up the handset f rom  the cradle  to answer an incoming call 
    without pr essing the  Talk/Spk/L1/L2  button.
    When it is set to of f, this f unction is disabled in  the cordless handset .
    Fr om the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Aut o Answ er.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to scr oll to your selection. The default 
    setting is  Off.
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    Aut o Answ er Intercom   
    (applicable for base and  cordless  handset)
    If it is set to On, this  cordless  handset or base will auto answ er the intercom call when it 
    r eceiv es an inte rcom call. 
    Fr om the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Aut o Answ er Int.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to scr oll to your selection. The default 
    setting is  Off.
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.

    Dial Mode (only applicable for base)
    The Dial Mode of Line 1 and Line 2 can be set separately.
    Fr om the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  vol  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Dial Mode .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   Use the  vol  (- or +) button to select  Tone  or Pulse  and use the  DIR or CID  button to 
    select L1 or L2.
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    NO TE: The Dial mode only can be set in the base menu.
    Area Code (only applicable for base)
    The telephone uses the p re-pr ogrammed ar ea code to determine the number format to 
    display when a  valid Caller ID r ecord is r eceiv ed. The pr e-programmed ar ea code is also 
    used for the Dialback featu re.
    Fr om the Phone setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  vol  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Area code .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   Use the touch-tone pad to enter  your 3-digit a rea code.
    4.   Pr ess  SAVE Soft k ey to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    Registration (only applicable t o handset)
    A cordless handset will not operate until it is  register ed to the base. During the r egistration 
    pr ocess,  keep the handset near the base. Up to  10 cor dless handsets can be r egistered to 
    one base.
    NOTE: If a handset has not been r egistered t o the base, then the  display 
    will show  PRESS REG  TO INITIA TE REGISTR ATION  once the handset has been 
    activ ated. Pr ess the REG Soft k ey to star t the r egistration.
    Fr om the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Registration .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key and y ou may pr ogram the following items: R egister and Remove 
    Handset . 
    						
    							Regist er
    From the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Regist er.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. The sc reen displays  Press base unit page butt on until beep.
    3.   Pr ess and hold the  page button on base for 5 seconds.
    4.   R egistration  displays to indicate the base is now in r egistration mode.
    5.   If the r egistration is success ful, the handset shows  Registration complet e for 2 
    seconds and emits a con rmation tone.
    6.   If the r egistration is failed (i .e. timeout), the handset shows  REGISTRATION FAILED!  for 2 
    seconds and emits an er ror tone.
    R emov e Handset
    De-registration cancels  registration. During the de- registration pr ocess, keep the handset 
    near the base.
    WARNING: It is not  recommended that a handset be der egistered unless 
    absolut ely necessa ry because once a handset is der egistered, that 
    handset ’s telephone featur es cannot be used until the handset is   
    r e-r egist ered.
    Fr om the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Remov e handset .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. The sc reen displays  Remov e handset ?. 
    3.   Pr ess the  YES Soft k ey to con rm de-registration. The scr een displays Saved and then 
    shows  Press REG t o initiate registration  in the handset .
    NO TE: Y ou can pr ess the REG Soft k ey to ent er the r egistation mode again.
    De-Regist er (only applicable for base)
    From the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  vol  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Deregistration .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. The list of all  register ed handsets will be shown, and use the 
     vol  (- or +) button to sc roll to y our selection.
    3.   Pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key. The sc reen displays  Remov e handset ?. 
    4.   Pr ess  YES  Soft k ey to con rm de-registration. The scr een displays Saved and then 
    shows  Press REG  t o initiat e registration  in the handset .

    2nd Call Aler t 
    If it is set to On,  you will hear the ale rt tone when y ou are in conv ersation and ther e is an 
    incoming call f rom another line. 
    Fr om the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  2ND Call Aler t.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to scr oll to your selection. The default 
    setting is  On.
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    Handset Name (only applicable for handset)
    From the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Handset name .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. The default name is  Handset.
    3.   Use the touch-tone pad to enter a name (up to  11 character s). More than one letter 
    is sto red in each of the number  keys. For example, to enter Bill Smith, pr ess the 2 key 
    twice for the letter B. Pr ess the 4 key 3 times for the letter I. Pr ess the 5 key 3 times for 
    the letter L . Press the 5  key 3 times for the second letter L , and press the 1 k ey to insert 
    a space bet ween the r st and last name. P ress the 7 k ey 4 times for the letter S; pr ess 
    the 6 k ey once for the letter M; p ress the 4  key 3 times for the letter I; pr ess the 8 key 
    for the letter T ; press the 4  key twice for the letter H.
    NO TE: If y ou mak e a mistak e, press DIR/CID butt on to mov e the cur sor forwar d 
    or back war d, and then use the mut e/del button to backspace and delet e one 
    charact er at a time.
    4.   Pr ess the  SAVE  Soft k ey to sa ve y our name. Y ou will hear a conrmation tone and the 
    display shows  Saved.
    Updat e Handset List (only applicable for base)
    This function is used to update all  register ed handsets fr om the current handset name list .
    Fr om the Phone Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  vol  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Update Handset  List.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   The latest handset name list sto red in the base will be sent to all r egistered handsets.
    Display Setting
    1.  Mak e sur e your phone is  OFF (not in T alk mode).
    2.   Pr ess the  menu button on  handset or the MENU Soft key on  base to go to the main 
    menu.
    3.   Pr ess  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Display S etting.
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to con rm and y ou may program the following items: Language, 
    Contrast and Backlight (base only).

    Language
    From the Display Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Language .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select  English, Francais  or Español . The default setting is 
    English .
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection.
    Contrast
    From the Display Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Contrast.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. Ther e are 1 to 5 squa res that will light up showing the contrast 
    str ength .
    3.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to adjust the contras t. The display instantly adjusts with 
    each pr ess of the  VOL  (- or +) button.
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve the desi red contrast lev el.
    Backlight (only applicable for base)
    From the Display Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  vol  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Backlight.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key and use the  vol  (- or +) button to select  Always On  or Aut omatic .
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection.
    Sound Setting
    1.  Mak e sur e your phone is  OFF (not in T alk mode).
    2.   Pr ess the  menu button on  handset or the MENU Soft key on  base to go to the main 
    menu.
    3.   Pr ess  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Sound S etting.
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to con rm and y ou may program the following items in base 
    and handset: Ring  Tone, Ring V olume and Key T one.
    Ring T one
    There are 5 tone le vels for y our selection. They a re Melody 1 to 5 for Line 1 and Line 2 
    r especti vely.
    Fr om the Sound Setting Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Ring Tone.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to y our selection and use the  DIR or CID  button to 
    toggle betw een L 1 and L 2. The default setting is  Melody 1 for Line 1 and  Melody 2 for 
    Line 2.  
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
