    Memo R ecord
    You can lea ve a message by p ressing the  memo button on base or selecting memo 
    r ecor ding under handset menu. 
    1.   Pr ess the  memo button on base or handset menu to enter memo r ecord mode. 
    2.   Use  VOL  (- or +) button to select  Mailbox 1 or  Mailbo x 2 to sav e the recording.
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to con rm. The scr een displays  Recor d memo af ter beep .
    4.   After the beep , begin speaking and the sc reen displays  Recor ding .
    5.   Pr ess the  FINISH Soft key to end the  recor ding.
    NO TE: The maximum duration allow ed for memo is the same as the message 
    length setting in the menu.
    Memo R ecording (Only applicable for  handset)
    From the  Handset Main  Menu:
    1.  Pr ess the  vol  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Memo r ecording .
    2.   Use  vol  (- or +) button to select  Mailbox 1 or  Mailbo x 2 to sav e the recording.
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to con rm. The scr een displays  Recor d memo af ter beep .
    4.   After the beep , begin speaking and the sc reen displays  Recor ding .
    5.   Pr ess the  FINISH Soft key to end the  recor ding.
    Message/Memo Playback
    In idle mode, p ress base  ans sys button when ashing or pr ess play  button on handset 
    or on base. The unit ente rs the message playback mode, and the status of messages for 
    each line  is displayed . Use left and right  key can toggle betw een Line 1 and Line 2, pr ess 
    SELECT  Soft key to play the messages.
    If the unit has new messages, only the new messages will be play ed, otherwise all 
    messages will be pla yed. Unit will play messages to the end.
    During each message playbac k, it shows the cur rent message information on the scr een. 
    If the message playback is a sto red incoming message  from the telephone line , it shows 
    the message’s CI D, including Date/Time, Name and Number . If it is a memo, only Display 
    memo and   
    Date/Time.
    During each message playbac k, y ou can pr ess the CID/next  button to sk ip to the next  
    message OR p ress the  DIR/prev button to r eplay the current  message. Double pr ess the 
    DIR/pr ev button to play the p revious message.
    If ther e are no messages, the unit will announce  “Y ou hav e NO messages ”.
    Tie the CID with ICM message only for the base. While r eviewing the CID recor ds, an  
    env elope icon will be shown if the re is ICM associated with this CID .  At this point , the 
    message can be pla yed by pr essing the  play button.   After playing the messages,  the unit 
    will r eturn back to the CID r eview mode.

    Erasing Messages 
    You may erase messages in the following th ree w ays:
    To erase a message while it is playing 
    1.   Select and play the message  you w ant to erase.
    2.   Pr ess the  delete button. The unit will ask  you to conrm the deletion.
    3.   Pr ess the  YES Soft k ey to con rm it. 
    4.   The curr ent message is erased, and the next message plays.
    To erase a message af ter it playing
    1.   After playing a message to the end, the sc reen displays  Delete message xx .
    2.   Pr ess the  YES Soft k ey to delete it and the sc reen displays  Message Delet ed.
    To erase all pr eviously play ed messages in a mailbo x
    1.  Play a message.
    2.   Pr ess and hold the  delete button for 2 seconds, the scr een displays Delete all 
    messages in line X mailb ox? .
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to delete all the old messages.
    Remot e Access Fr om Remote Party
    1.   Dial the telephone number to which the ans wering system is connected. 
    2.   Enter the security code during the ou tgoing announcement or after y ou hear the tone.
     NO TE: The default security code is  000.
    3.   The following a re the v oice prompts for the  remote menu:
      Press tw o (2) to play messages, p ress tw o (2) again to stop
      Press ze ro (0) while playing a message to erase
      Press one (1) to  review the previous message  
      Press thr ee (3) to play the next message
      Press four (4) to turn On and Off the Ans wering S ystem
      Press se ven (7) to r eview menu again
    4.   Enter the r emote commands.
    5.   To exit r emote operation, hang u p. The system will automatically disconnect the call if 
    the user does not enter a command within 10 seconds.
    NO TE: Only the message being pla yed can be erased in r emote access mode.

    Memor y Full

    Y ou should erase some messages so the ans wering system may r ecord new messages. 
    NO TE: The unit also answ ers aft er the 10th ring if it is set t o Answer Off. To 
    access the ans wering syst em, enter your  3-digit security code.
    Changing the Batt ery
    CAUTION: T o reduce the risk of r e or personal injur y, use only the Telefield NA Inc.
    appr oved Nick el-metal Hy dride (Ni-MH) batt ery model  T  -2 734 , which is 
    compatible with this unit .
    1.  Mak e sur e the telephone is  OFF (not in T alk mode) befor e you r eplace batter y.
    2.   Remov e the batter y compartment door .
    3.   Disconnect the batte ry plug fr om the jack inside the batter y compartment and r emove 
    the batter y pack from the handse t.
    4.   Inser t the new batter y pack and connect the co rd to the jack inside the batter y 
    compar tment.
    5.   Put the batter y compartment door back on.
    6.   Place handset in the base or handset cha rge cradle to char ge. Allow the handset 
    batt ery t o pr operly char ge (for 14 hour s) prior t o rst use or when y ou install a new 
    batt ery pack . If you do not pr operly charge the phone, batt ery per formance will be 
    compr omised .
    Battery Safety Pr ecautions
    •   Do not burn, disassemble, mutilate, or punctu re. Lik e other batteries of this type, to xic 
    materials could be  released which can cause inju ry.
    •    Remov e batteries if storing o ver 30 days.
    NO TE: The RBRC seal on the batt ery used in your Telefield NA Inc. pr oduct 
    indicat es that w e are par ticipating in a pr ogram to  collect and  re cycle the 
    r echar geable batt ery (or batteries).

    Display Messages
    The following messages show the status of the phone, provides Caller ID information, or 
    helps y ou set up and use  your phone.
    DELE TE ALL ?  Prompt ask ing if you want to erase all r ecords.
    DELE TE?   Prompt ask ing if you want to erase the curr ent record. 
    ST AR T/END   Indicates that it is the end of the list .
    ENTER NAME  Prompt telling  you to enter a name.
    ENTER NUMBER  Prompt telling  you to enter a telephone number .
    NE W CALLS  Indicates call or calls which ha ve not been r eviewed.
    HANDS ET NAME  Prompt telling  you to enter a user name for the handset .
    UNA VAIL ABLE  Indicates that the  function  you w ant to initialize cannot w ork at that  
        moment or the  function being  work ed cannot continue. The system is   
        busy or some other higher priority f unction is being performed.
          For example, the message playback  function will be stopped when   
        there is an incoming call.
    NO LINE    Indicates that the telephone line is not connected.
    LINE IN USE  Display on handset while the line is in use.
    EMPT Y    Indicates the re ar e no CID r ecords in memor y.
    OUT OF RANGE  Indicates handset is too far a way fr om the base, and the handset is   
        searching for the base. 
    BL OCKED   Indicates the pe rson is calling f rom a number which is      
        blocked from transmission.
    UNKNOWN  Indicates incoming call is f rom an ar ea not ser viced by CID or the CID   
        information  was not sen t.
    INC OMPLE TE  Indicates incor rect CID information r eceived.

    Back up Batt ery Operation
    If the pow er cord is not plugged into the uni t, and the batter y is available, the unit enter s 
    Batter y Operation Mode. In this mode, the  base is fully functional .

    Troubleshooting Guide
    T elephone Solutions
    No dial t one
    •   Check or r epeat installation steps: 
      Mak e sur e the base po wer cor d is connected to a w orking electrical outlet . Make sure 
    the telephone line co rd is connected to the base and the w all jack.
    •    Connect another phone to the same jac k. If it doesn’t w ork, the pr oblem might be y our 
    wiring or local se rvice.
    •    The handset may be out of range of the base. Mo ve closer to the base.
    •    Mak e sur e the batter y is properly cha rged (for 14 hour s).
    Dial tone is ok , but can’t dial out
    •   Mak e sur e the type of phone se rvice y ou are subscribed to is  TONE  or PULSE .
    Handset does not ring
    •   Mak e sur e the handset ringer is set to On.
    •    The handset may be out of range of the base. Mo ve closer to the base.
    •    You may ha ve too many extension phones on  your line. Tr y unplugging some 
    extensions.
    •    Check for a dial tone. If no dial tone is hea rd, see “No dial tone” .
    You experience static, noise, or fading in and out
    •    The handset may be out of range of the base. Mo ve closer to base.
    •    Mak e sur e base is not plugged into an electrical outlet with another household 
    appliance. If necessa ry, r elocate the base.
    •    Char ge the batter y (for 14 hour s).
    Memory dialing doesn’t w ork
    •   Did y ou follow pr oper dialing sequence?
    Unit locks up and no communication betw een the base and 
    cor dless handset
    •   Unplug the pow er adaptor from the electrical outlet and the bottom of the base. 
    R emov e the handset batte ry. W ait for 30 seconds and plug the pow er adaptor back 
    into the base and electrical outle t. R econnect the batter y and charge for 14 hour s.
    Out of Range...  
    shows in the handset display
    •    Mov e the handset closer to the base.
    •    Mak e sur e the base po wer cor d is connected to a w orking electrical outlet .
    Date/Time setting is r estored t o default setting
    •   May be caused by po wer failur e. Set Date/Time again.

    Caller ID Solutions
    No Display
    •    Char ge the batter y (for 14 hour s). Or replace the batter y.
    •    Mak e sur e the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet . Disconnect the 
    pow er adaptor fr om the base and  reconnect i t.
    No Caller ID
    •    You must be subscribed to the standa rd Name/Number Caller ID ser vice from your 
    local telephone company to  receiv e CID information.
    Battery
    If y ou experience any of the following p roblems, e ven after r echarging the batter y, you 
    may need to  replace the batte ry pack :
    •    Shor t talk time
    •    Poor sound quality
    •    Limited range

    General Pr oduct Care
    To k eep y our unit w orking and loo king good, follow these guidelines:
    •    Av oid dr opping the handse t, as w ell as other  rough tr eatment to the phone.
    •    Clean the phone with a soft cloth.
    •    Nev er use str ong cleaning agents, paint thinne r, abrasiv e powder, alcohol, or other 
    chemical p roducts to clean the uni t. Doing so will damage the nish.
    •    Retain the original packaging in case  you need to ship the phone at a later date.
    •    Periodically clean the cha rge contacts on the handset and base with a clean pencil 
    eraser .
    Causes of P oor Reception
    •   Aluminum siding.
    •    Foil bac king on insulation.
    •    Heating ducts and other metal const ruction that can shield radio   
    signals.
    •    You ’r e too close to appliances such as mic row aves, stov es, computer s, etc.
    •    Atmospheric conditions, such as st rong storms.
    •    Base is installed in the basement or lo wer oor of the house.
    •    Base is plugged into  AC outlet with other elect ronic devices.
    •    Baby monitor is using the same f requency.
    •    Handset batter y is low. 
    •    Mak e sur e the hook switch pops up when the handset is lifted.
    •    You’r e out of range of the base.
    •    The 5“ AAA” batteries need  replacing or a re impr operly installed or not installed at all.
    •   Inter com does not  function corr ectly.
