    Ring V olume
    There are 5 V olume le vels and OFF for  your selection. The Ring V olume can be set 
    individually for each line.
    Fr om the Sound Settings Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Ring Volume.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to y our selection and use the  DIR or CID  button to 
    toggle betw een L 1 and L 2. The default setting is  VOL 3 .
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    Key T one
    From the Sound Settings Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Key T one .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select  On or  Off. 
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    Answ ering S ystem (only applicable for base)
    1.  Mak e sur e your phone is  OFF (not in T alk mode).
    2.   Pr ess the  MENU Soft key on  base to go to the main menu.
    3.   Pr ess  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Answering  Sys .
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to con rm. You may pr ogram the following items in base: On/Off 
    S tatus, OGA Playbac k, OGA R ecord, Set OGA , Set Ofce Time, Ring Delay, Message 
    Length, Call Scr eening, Message Ale rt , R emote P assword.
    On/Off S tatus
    This is used to set the ans wering system On or Off for each telephone line  individually.
    Fr om the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  On/Off Status .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select  On or  Off and use the  DIR or CID  button to toggle 
    betw een L1 and L2.
    4.   Pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the status shows in the display.

    Out going Message ( OGA) Playback
    From the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  OGA Playback .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key.
    3.   Use  DIR and  CID button s to toggle bet ween Line 1 and Line 2 and use  VOL  (- or +) 
    button to sc roll to y our selection.
    4.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key to play the selected OG A, if the selected OGA is empty, the 
    scr een displays  EMPTY.
    Out going Message (OGA)  Recor d
    From the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    2.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  OGA Record.
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key.
    4.   Use  DIR and  CID button s to toggle bet ween Line 1 and Line 2 and use  VOL  (- or +) 
    button to sc roll to the selection  you w ant to r ecord.  Ther e are 4 k inds of OGA to select; 
    P er sonal OG A, Announce Only, Work Hou rs, After Hour s.
    5.   Pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key to record. After the beep , you can star t to record.
    6.   Pr ess the  FINISH Soft key to end the  recor ding. 
    7.   After r ecorded, the unit will automatically play the OGA once.
    Set Out going Message (OGA)
    From the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    2.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Set OGA .
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    4.   Use  DIR and  CID button s to toggle bet ween Line 1 and Line 2 and use the  VOL  (- or +) 
    button to sc roll to y our selection.
    5.   Pr ess the  SELECT Soft key to sa ve y our selection. If ther e is not a message recor ded in 
    y our selected g reeting, the sc reen displays  EMPTY and y ou should select another one. 
    Other wise, the sc reen displays  Saved.
    NO TE: If y ou select the option “ TIMED”, the “Work Hours” OGA and “After Hours” OGA MUST be 
    recorded first. W hen there is an incoming call, the  “Work  Hours” OGA or “ After Hour s” OGA 
    will be play ed to the caller accor ding to the ofce time y ou set.
    Set Ofce Time
    From the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Set Office  Time.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. You can pr ogram the following items: Work Hour s and After 
    Hour s.

    Set Work Hour s
    This will allow you to pr ogram the sta rt time for the  work ing hour .
    Fr om the  Set Ofce Time  Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Set W ork Hour s.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key.
    3.   Use the touch-tone pad to set the time, and use  AM/PM Soft key to select  AM or PM.
    4.   Pr ess the  SAVE Soft k ey to sa ve the time.
    5.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select  Yes  or  No for Announce Only.
    6.   Pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    NO TE: If y ou select Y es for Announce Only,  the “Work Hours” OGA and “After Hours” OGA 
    MUST be recorded first. T he unit will hang up the call af ter announcing the gr eeting when 
    answ ering the call is in the ans wering mode.
    Set Aft er Hour s
    This will allow  you to pr ogram the sta rt time for the after w ork hour.
    Fr om the  Set Ofce Time  Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Set Af ter Hour s.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key.
    3.   Use the touch-tone pad to set the time, and use  AM/PM Soft key to select  AM or PM.
    4.   Pr ess the  SAVE  Soft k ey to sa ve the time.
    5.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select  Yes  or  No for Announce Only.
    6.   Pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    NO TE: If y ou select Y es for Announce Only,  the “Work Hours” OGA and “After Hours” OGA 
    MUST be recorded frst. T he unit will hang up the call af ter announcing the gr eeting when 
    answ ering the call is in the ans wering mode.
      Example:
     When the call comes in within 9:00am to 5:00pm, the Work Hour s OGA will be 
    announced to the calle r.
      When the call comes in after 5:00pm up to 9:00am, the After Hour s OGA will be 
    announced to the calle r. 
      On Satur days and  Sundays, the unit will announce After Hour s OGA.

    Ring Dela y
    This feature lets y ou select the number of times  you w ant the phone to ring befor e the 
    answ ering system ans wer s a call.
    Fr om the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Ring Delay .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to y our selection, fr om 2 rings to 6 rings or toll 
    sav er, and use the  DIR or CID  button to toggle betw een L1 and L 2. 
    4.   Pr ess the  SELECT Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    NO TE: When the T oll saver is select ed, the unit will answ er the incoming call 
    aft er  3 rings if ther e is new message. Othe rwise, the unit will answ er the 
    incoming call aft er 5 rings.
    Message Length
    Fr om the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Message Length .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. 
    3.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to y our selection, fr om 1 to 3 minutes, and use the 
    DIR  or CID  button to toggle bet ween L 1 and L 2. 
    4.   Pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    Call Scr eening
    From the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Call Screening .
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select  On or  Off. 
    3.   Pr ess the  SELECT Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.
    Message Aler t
    This feature set y our answ ering system to gi ve an aler t tone every 10 seconds when ther e 
    ar e new messages.
    Fr om the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Message Aler t.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select  On or  Off. Default is  Off.
    3.   Pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection and the scr een displays Saved.

    R emot e Passw ord
    You can access the ans wering system f rom a tone dialing telephone in another (r emote) 
    location. The security code is  requir ed for r emote access, and it pr events unauthorized 
    access to  your answ ering system.
    Fr om the Answ ering Sys Menu:
    1.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the  Remot e Passw ord.
    2.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. The curr ent Remote passw ord shows in the display. Default is 
    000 . 
    3.   Use the touch-tone pad to enter  your 3-digit security code.
    4.   Pr ess  SAVE Soft k ey to sa ve the setting.
    R est ore Setting
    The featur e allows you to reset some menu settings to the original default settings.
    Fr om the  Standby or Idle Mode (not in T alk mode):
    1.   Pr ess  menu  button on handset or  MENU Soft key on the base. 
    2.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to  Rest ore S etting . 
    3.   Pr ess  SELECT  Soft key. The sc reen displays  LO AD T O DEF AUL T? . 
    4.   Pr ess  YES Soft k ey to let unit  reset to default setting; once nished, the unit will emit a 
    shor t beep pr ompt, and the sc reen displays  Saved.
    5.   If y ou do not w ant to reset, press the  NO Soft k ey.
    Telephone Operation
    Mak ing Calls with the Cor dless Handset
    1.  Pr ess the  Talk  button, the unit will pick the  rst av ailable line for y ou. 
      -OR-
    Pr ess  line 1  or line 2  Soft key to select a line  you w anted.
    2.   W ait for a dial tone then dial the phone numbe r.
    3.   Pr ess the  end button when nished.
    Making Calls with the Cor ded Handset (from the base)
    1.   Pick up the handset and the unit will pick the a vailable line. If both lines ar e available, 
    Line 1 will be used  rst.
        -OR- 
      Pick up the handset and p ress  line 1  or line 2  button  to select the line y ou want.
    2.   W ait for a dial tone, then dial a phone numbe r.
    3.   Hang up the handset when  nished.

    Mak ing Calls in the Speak erphone Mode (from the base)
    1.   Pr ess the  speaker button (in base), the unit will pick the av ailable line for you. If both 
    lines a re av ailable, Line 1 will be used  rst.
      -OR-
      Press  line 1  or line 2  button on the base to select the line, and the base’s speak er will 
    activ ate.
    2.   W ait  for a dial  tone then dial a phone  number  or press One-T ouch/Memor y Log  button 
    (1- 10) to dial sto red phone numbe r.
    3.   Pr ess the  speaker button when nished.
    NO TE: Aft er pick the line, the call timer sta rts t o run until all the calls ar e hung 
    up . The timer ser ves for both 2 lines.
    Mak ing Call in the Speak erphone Mode (from the handset)
    1.   Pr ess the  Spk button to acti vate the spea kerphone on the r st available line.
        -OR-
      Press the  LINE 1 or LINE 2  Soft key to select a speci c line. The handset will activ ate the 
    ear piece. 
    2.   Pr ess the  Spk button to switch to spea kerphone mode.
    3.   W ait for a dial tone then dial the phone numbe r.
    4.   Pr ess the  end button when nished.
    Making Calls with the Optional Headset
    1.  Plug the headset into the Headset jack on the side of the base or side of the cor dless 
    handset .
    2.   Adjust the headset to  rest comfo rtably on top of  your head or ov er your ear .
    3.   Mov e the mic rophone to app ro ximately 2 to 3 inches fr om your mouth.
    4.   For the base, p ress the  headset  button on base and the phone automatically selects 
    r st av ailable, if both lines a re av ailable, Line 1 will be used.
    5.   For the cor dless handse t, pr ess the  Talk  button. 
    6.   W ait for a dial tone, and then dial the phone numbe r.
    7.   Pr ess  headset  button (on base) or  end button (on handset) when   
    nished.
    CAUTION : Use Thomson Inc. 5-2425 or other compatible headset that is co\
    mpatible 
    with this unit .
    NO TE: If the headset is not connec ted (or if not complet ely inserted int o headset 
    jack), an err or tone is hear d when the Headset butt on is pressed.
    NO TE: Headset per formance may vary depending on the quality of the headset. .

    Pr e-Dialing
    1.   W ith the phone idle, manually enter the telephone number . The maximum pr e-dialing 
    number length is  32 digits, if the number is o ver 32 digits, it will emit an err or tone. The 
    telephone number shows in the display.
    2.   Pr ess the  DIAL Soft k ey (on base only),  Spk button,  Talk  button (handset only), or  line 
    1  or  line 2  button to tak e a line, or pick up the cor ded handset (on the base only)  and 
    then the telephone number will be dialed ou t.
    Answ ering a Call
    For cor dless handset:
    1.  Pr ess the  Talk  button to ans wer the call in  receiv er mode, 
        -OR-
    2.   Pr ess the  Spk button to ans wer the call in spea kerphone mode, 
        -OR-
    3.   Pr ess the cor responding  LINE Soft k ey to answ er the call in r eceiver mode.
    4.   When nished, p ress  end  button.
    For the base: 
    1.   Pick up the co rded handse t,
      -OR-
    2.    Pr ess the  speaker button to ans wer the call in speak erphone mode, 
        -OR-
    3.    Pr ess the cor responding  line button to ans wer the call in speak erphone mode, 
        -OR-
    4.    Pr ess the  headset  button to ans wer the call in headset mode.
    5.    When nished,  hang up the corded handset or  press  Spk button (in speak erphone) or 
    headset  button (in headset mode) to end the call.
    NO TE: If y ou have set the Aut o Answer as On in the cor dless handset, you can 
    answ er the call dir ectly by picking up this handset fr om the charger, without 
    pr essing any butt ons.
    NO TE: Adjust the v olume by pressing the v ol (- or +) butt on during a call.
    Switching Betw een the Speak erphone, Handset , and 
    Headset Mode
    Base 
    T o switch to the spea kerphone, pr ess speak er button. The speak erphone indicator 
    illuminates.  Place the handset back into the cradle.
    T o switch to the co rded handse t, pick up the handse t. The speak erphone or headset 
    indicator  will turn off .

    To switch to the headse t, pr ess the  headset  button to enable the headset , and the 
    headset indicator illuminates.
    Cor dless Handset
    To switch to the spea kerphone, pr ess Spk button.
    If the headset is plug in, p ress  Talk  button to switch to headset . 
    If the headset is not plug in, p ress  Talk  button to switch to cor dless handset’s receiver.
    Mut e
    To hav e a priv ate, off-line con ver sation, use the Mute featur e. The party on the other end 
    of the line cannot hear  you, but y ou can still hear them.
    1.   Pr ess  mute button to acti vate the mute featu re.
    NO TE: When using the mut e feature on the base, the indicat or will illuminate 
    when the mut e is activated. 
    2.   Pr ess the  mute button again to de-acti vate.
    Do Not Disturb
    This featu re is set at individual telephones to disable (silence) an incoming ring signal, 
    inter com ring. When the re is an incoming call or an inter com call, the status indicators 
    f unction as normal but the phone will not ring.
    1.   When the unit is idle, p ress the  DND/pri vacy  button. The last setting is display ed.
    2.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select the duration. Y ou may choose from 15 minutes, 30 
    minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hou r, or 2 hour s and increase the duration by 1-hour inter vals 
    up to 24 hour s.
    3.   Pr ess the  SELECT Soft key to con rm. The indicator (on the base) blinks and the displa y 
    shows how long the ringer will be disabled.
    4.   To cancel, p ress  DND/pri vacy  button again.
    Flash
    If you subscribe to Call  Waiting Caller ID se rvice f rom y our local telephone company and 
    y ou r eceiv e an incoming call during a call,  you will hear a beep to indicate another call is 
    w aiting on the line and Caller ID information (if a vailable) for the w aiting call shows on the 
    display. 
    •  To connect to the  waiting call, p ress the  menu/ash  button on the handset or the 
    ash  button on the base, and  your original call is put on hold.
    •   To switch bet ween the tw o calls, press the  menu/ash  (Handset) or  ash (base) 
    button.
    Inser ting a P ause in the Dialing Sequence
    Press the  #pause  button twice to inse rt a delay in dialing sequence when a pause is 
    needed to w ait for a dial tone (for example, after  you dial 9 for an outside line, or to w ait for 
    a computer access tone.) Each pause counts as one digit in the dialing sequence, and is 
    shown as  “P” in the display.

    R edial
    1.   Pr ess the  Talk  button  on the cor dless handset , or press the  Spk button (speak erphone 
    mode), or pr ess the headset  button (headset mode) , or pick up the corded handset 
    fr om the base  and the rst available line will go off hook . If both lines are available, Line 
    1 will be used.
      -OR-
    Pr ess a  line button to select a line.
    2.   Pr ess the  redial  button. The r edial number list (last 3 pr eviously dialed numbers) is 
    shown.
    3.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to select the numbe r. Pr ess the  DIAL Soft k ey to dial out the 
    number .
    NO TE: If the number you dialed is longer than 32 digitals, It will not be \
    saved in the redial 
    list and cant be redialed.
    R eviewing the  Redial Number s
    Your phone r ecords up to th ree pr eviously dialed phone number s.
    1.   When the phone is idle, p ress the  redial  button.
    2.   Use the  VOL  (- or +) button to view the last th ree pr eviously dialed number s.
    3.   While the pr eferred number is displa yed, pr ess the  Spk, T alk , a line  button , or pick up 
    the cor ded handset  to dial the phone numbe r.
    NO TE: If y ou do not select a line but ton, the line is aut omatically seized and the 
    number is dialed accor dingly.
    Storing a R edial Record in Direct ory
    1.  Mak e sur e the phone is  OFF (not in T alk mode).  
    2.   Pr ess the  redial  button, then use the  VOL  (- or +) button to scr oll to the desired redial 
    number .
    3.   Pr ess the  SAVE Soft k ey. 
    4.   The scr een displays  Enter Name . Input a name  by pressing the k eypad. 
    NO TE: Mor e than one lett er is stored in each of the number k eys so it requires 
    mor e than one pr ess for some lett ers. F or example, for the lett er “B” press the 
    number 2 k ey twice. To add a space pr ess the 1 key.
    NO TE: A name must be input other wise the record cannot be st ored.
    5.   Pr ess the  SAVE Soft k ey. The desi red r edial number shows in the display.
    6.   You can edit the telephone number  by using the delete button and number k eys.
    7.   Pr ess  SAVE Soft k ey to enter the VIP T one Melody selection.
    8.   Use  VOL  (- or +) button to sc roll to the desi red ring tone melody and pr ess SELECT  Soft 
    k ey to complete.
    NO TE: If an incoming call number mat ches this record the VIP T one Melody will 
    ring.

    Transferring a Call t o Another Extension
    1.  Pr ess  XFER  Soft k ey when the phone is in  Talk mode.   The current call is put on hold.
    2.   Use  VOL  (- or +) to select the desi red handset or base y ou want to transfer to , and then 
    pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key.
    3.   The unit will inte rcom 
    or ring  the selected handset or base. 
    The initiating unit has two 
    options at this poin t.
    a)   W ait until the selected handset or base ans wer s the inter com call and hav e a 
    conv ersation and then hang up to  nish the transfer or press Conference to hav e a 3 
    w ay confe rence call.
        -OR-
    b)   Simply hang up by p ressing the  end button,  Speaker button or just r eturn the handset 
    to cradle and the call is transfer red.
    4.    If the selected unit  rejects the inte rcom call,  or the call is not answ ered within 30 seconds, the 
    call is transfer red back to the original unit and the display will show as below a) or b)
    a) The initiating unit did not hang up, it will show Unavailable for 3  seconds, and then automatically 
         picks up the call again.
    b) The initiating unit hang up, it will show TRANSFERRED BACK FROM XXXX and ring, press Talk Button 
        or Speaker button can pick up the call again.  
    R
    eceiving a T ransferred Call fr om Another Ext ension
    If the unit receives a transfer call paging,  Transfer  from base/Handset X  
    shows in the 
    display. P ress the  Talk  button (handset only) or  speaker button (both base and handset)  or 
    leav e the cor ded handset on the base unit  to answer the call.
    If y ou pr ess the  REJECT  Soft k ey or the call is not answ ered within 30 seconds , the 
    inter com paging will be stopped  and the call is transferred back to the original unit.
    NO TE:  1. If the call is not accep
    ted, the caller will be able t o leave a message on the 
    answ ering syst em if it is activ ated.
    Ringer On/Off and Ringer V olume
    1.  Mak e sur e the phone is in idle mode.
    2.   Pr ess the  VOL  (- or +) button to acti vate the ringer v olume setting. Use the  VOL  (- or +) 
    button to sc roll to y our selection and use the  DIR or CID  button to toggle betw een L 1 
    and L 2. The default setting is  VOL 3 .
    3.   Pr ess the  SELECT  Soft key to sa ve y our selection.
    NO TE: If y ou choose the ringer OFF , the screen displays  L1/L2 RINGER OFF .
    Speakerphone, Handset , and Headset Volume
    While the phone is in use, during the desi red mode, pr ess the VOL  (+ or -) buttons until 
    y ou r each a comfo rtable listening le vel. The phone sto res the setting after the last button 
    pr essed.
