    6. Adding paper, Toner and
    Staples
This chapter explains troubleshooting procedures that are applicable to all the
    machines functions.
    Loading paper
This section explains what to do when paper runs out and needs reloading.
    R CAUTION:
Tray 1 and LCT use A4 K exclusively. Load only A4 paper at all times.
    Note
    ❒Fan the paper before loading.
❒Straighten curled or warped paper before loading.
    ❒I f y o u w a n t t o l o a d L e t t e r - s i z e d p a p e r ( 8
    1/2” × 11”K) paper in Tray 1 or LCT,
    contact your service representative.
❒For paper types and sizes, see “Recommended Paper Sizes and Types”,
    About This Machine.
❒To load paper in the bypass tray, see “Using the Bypass Tray”, Copy/Docu-
    ment Server Reference.
When loading paper, take care not to trap or injure your fingers.

Loading Paper into the Paper Trays
The following procedure explains loading paper (in paper tray 2 as an example).
    Important
    ❒Tray 1 uses only A4 K paper. If you want to load 8 1/2” × 11” K, contact your
    service representative.
❒The position of the side and end fences can be changed in tray 2, 1 tray paper
unit, and 2 tray paper unit. Paper of various sizes can then be loaded in them.
When changing paper size, see “Changing the Paper Size”.
❒Do not stack paper over the limit mark.
ACarefully pull out the paper tray until it stops.
BSquare the paper and load it print side up.
CCarefully push the paper tray fully in.
    Note
❒If you load a paper size that is not selected automatically, you will need to
specify the paper size with the control panel.

Loading Paper into the Large Capacity Tray (LCT)
The following procedure explains loading paper into the large capacity tray
    (LCT).
    Important
❒LCT (optional) uses A4K paper exclusively. Only load A4K paper. If you
want to load 81/2”×11”K, contact your service representative.
❒Align the paper stacks and load them against the left and right walls, or a pa-
    per misfeed might occur.
❒Do not stack paper over the limit mark.
APull out the LCT, slowly until it stops.
BWith the print side up, align all four sides of two paper stacks, and then
load them next to each other in the tray. Each side has a limit of 1,000 sheets.
CPush the paper tray slowly in until it stops.

    Orientation-Fixed Paper or Two-Sided Paper
The following explains loading paper whose orientation and print side is speci-
    fied (letterhead paper).
Orientation-fixed (top to bottom) or two-sided paper (for example, letterhead
paper, punched paper, or copied paper) might not print correctly, depending on
how the originals and paper are placed. Select [On] in [Letterhead Setting] under
[Copier / Document Server Features], and then place the original and paper as
shown below. See “Letterhead Setting”, General Settings Guide. When printing
with the printer function, placement orientation is the same.
For printing using the printer function, load paper in the same orientation.
    ❖Original Orientation
    ❖Paper Orientation
    Note
❒For [System Settings], specify Letterhead as “Paper Type” for the paper tray
