    2 Clamp/cooling water hose 1/1ÈFor cooling water outlet on stern side.
    3 Clamp/cooling water hose 2/1
    NOTE:
    Install the cooling water hose with the white
    mark a facing up.
    4 Clamp/cooling water hose 1/1ÉFor cooling water pilot outlet on starboard 
    side.
    5 Band/grease hose 1/1

    SERVICE POINTS
    Thermostat inspection
    1. Check:
    Thermostat 1 
    Does not open at 50–60 °C (123–
    141°F) → Replace.
    1Thermostat
    2Thermometer
    3Water
    4Container
    ÈFully closed
    ÉFully open
    NOTE:
    If the accuracy of the thermostat is in doubt,
    replace it. A faulty thermostat could cause seri-
    ous overheating or over cooling.Checking steps:
    Suspend the thermostat in a container
    filled with water.
    Slowly heat the water.
    Place a thermometer in the water.
    While stirring the water, observe the ther-
    mostat and thermometer’s indicated tem-
    perature.

    Thermostat housing
    Cracks/damage → Replace.
    3. Check:
    Cooling system
    Leaks → Repair or replace any faulty
    part.
