    TheIPMIspecificationdefinesastandardizedinterfaceforplatformmanagement.TheIPMI
    specificationdefinesthefollowingtypesofplatformmanagement:

    TheiLO2firmwareprovidestheKCSinterface,oropeninterface,forSMScommunications.The
    KCSinterfaceprovidesasetofI/Omappedcommunicationsregisters.Thedefaultsystembase
    addressfortheI/OmappedSMSInterfaceis0xCA2andisbytealignedatthissystemaddress.
    TheKCSinterfaceisaccessibletoSMSsoftwarethatisrunningonthelocalsystem.Examplesof

    commands.Also,theSMSusesthemethodsdescribedinthespecificationfordeterminingwhich
    IPMIfeaturesareenabledordisabledintheBMC(forexample,usingtheGet Device ID

    Iftheserveroperatingsystemisrunningandthehealthdriverisenabled,anyIPMItrafficthrough
    theKCSinterfacecanaffecttheperformanceofthehealthdriverandoverallhealthperformance
    ofthesystem.DonotissueanyIPMIcommandsthroughtheKCSinterfacethatmightdetrimentally
    affectthemonitoringperformedbythehealthdriver.Thesecommandsincludeanycommandsthat

    ConfiguringtheIPaddress
    ThisstepisnecessaryonlyifyouareusingastaticIPaddress.WhenusingdynamicIPaddressing,
    yourDHCPserverautomaticallyassignsanIPaddressforiLO2.Tosimplifyinstallation,HP
    recommendsusingDNSorDHCPwithiLO2.
    ToconfigureastaticIPaddress,usetheiLO2RBSUwiththefollowingproceduretodisableDNS
    andDHCPandconfiguretheIPaddressandthesubnetmask:
    1.Restartorpowertheserveron.
    2.PresstheF8keywhenpromptedduringPOST.TheiLO2RBSUruns.
    3.SelectNetwork>DNS/DHCP,presstheEnterkey,andthenselectDHCPEnable.
    4.PressthespacebartoturnoffDHCP.BesurethatDHCPEnableissettoOff,andthensave
    thechanges.

    TheiLO2firmwareisconfiguredwithadefaultusername,password,andDNSname.Default
    userinformationislocatedontheiLO2NetworkSettingstagattachedtotheservercontaining
    theiLO2managementprocessor.UsethesevaluestoaccessiLO2remotelyfromanetworkclient
    usingastandardWebbrowser.
    Forsecurityreasons,HPrecommendschangingthedefaultsettingsafterloggingintoiLO2for
    thefirsttime.
    Thedefaultvaluesare:
    •Username–Administrator
    •Password–Arandom,eight-character,alphanumericstring
    •DNSName–ILOXXXXXXXXXXXX

    YoucanuseRBSUtoconfigurenetworkparameters,directorysettings,globalsettings,anduser
    accounts.TheiLO2RBSUisnotintendedforcontinuedadministration.RBSUisavailableevery
    timetheserverisbootedandcanberunremotelyusingtheiLO2RemoteConsole.
    TheiLO2RBSUcanbedisabledintheGlobalSettingspreferences.DisablingiLO2RBSUprevents
    reconfigurationfromthehostunlesstheiLO2SecurityOverrideSwitchisset.

    2.PresstheF8keywhenpromptedduringPOST.TheiLO2RBSUruns.

    (AdministerUserAccounts>ConfigureiLO2Settings).Defaultaccountinformationislocated
    ontheiLO2DefaultNetworkSettingstagattachedtotheservercontainingtheiLO2
    managementprocessor.IfiLO2hasnotbeenconfiguredtopresentaloginchallengetothe
    RBSU,thennopromptappears.
