    •HPDirectoriesSupportforManagementProcessors–Downloadthecomponenttogetthe
    directorysupportcomponents.Oneofthecomponents,theHPLOMIG,canbeusedtodiscover
    iLO,iLO2,RILOE,andRILOEIIprocessorsandupdatethefirmware.Youdonothavetouse
    directoryintegrationtotakeadvantageofthisfunctionality.
    Diagnosticsteps
    Beforeattemptingaflashrecoveryofthefirmware,usethefollowingdiagnosticstepstoverifythat
    flashrecoveryisneeded:
    1.AttempttoconnecttoiLO2throughtheWebbrowser.Ifyouareunabletoconnect,thenthere
    isacommunicationissue.
    2.AttempttopingiLO2.Ifyouaresuccessful,thenthenetworkisworking.
    iLO2networkflashrecovery
    TheiLO2networkflashrecoverypayloadenablesyoutorecoverfromafailedfirmwareupgrade.
    TheflashrecoverypayloadusesFTP,whichcanonlybeusedwhentheflashrecoverypayloadis
    active,totransferthefirmwareimagetoiLO2.Theflashrecoverypayloadmustonlybeusedif:
    •Previousfirmwareupgradeattemptshavefailed
    •YouareunabletoconnecttotheWebbrowser
    IftheiLO2firmwareimageisdamaged,missing,orotherwisecorrupted,thentheiLO2flash
    recoveryprocessisusedtore-flashiLO2.Theflashrecoveryprocessisforthesolepurposeof
    gettingthesystemre-flashed.Nootherprocessescanrununtiltherecoveryprocessiscomplete.
    RecoveringfromabadiLO2flashimageusingnetworkflashrecovery
    PerformthefollowingstepstorecoverfromabadiLO2flashusingnetworkflashrecovery:
    1.OpenanFTPsessiontotheIPaddressorDNSnameofiLO2.
    2.LogintoiLO2usingthefixedusernameflash andthepasswordrecovery.
    Theusernameandpasswordarecase-sensitive.
    3.AttheFTPprompt,entertheputcommand,andthefilenameofthefirmwareimage.
    Thefollowingisanexampleoftheentriesusedfortheflashrecoveryprocess:

    •TheputcommandtransfersthefiletoiLO2
    •Theimagevalidates
    •Theflashprocessbegins
    Ifthefileisnotfound:
    •Someversionsoftheputcommanddonotdisplayanerrormessage
    NOTE:Ifthedirectorypathincludesspaces,enclosethepathandfilenameinquotes.
    Afterthefirmwareimagetransfers,therecoverypayloadcalculatesthechecksum,validatesthe
    digitalsignature,andreportsiftheimageisvalid.Theflashreprogrambeginsiftheimageisvalid,
    andtheflashprogressisreportedtotheclient.
    NOTE:Thisprocesstakesafewsecondswhiletherecoverypayloaddecryptsthestoredhash
    andcomputesahashfortheimagetocompareagainst.Iftheimageisvalid,theFTPserverbegins
    programmingtheimageintotheflashportion,andprovidesstatusupdates.
    Whencompleted,theflashrecoverypayloadmoduledisconnectsandrebootstheiLO2processor.
    Iftheflashrecoveryprocessisunsuccessful,starttheprocessagain,andwatchtheprogressfor
    anyerrors.Youmighthavetouseadifferentfirmwareimagefortheprocess.
    RecoveringfromabadiLO2flashimageusingtheHPSmartUpdateFirmwareDVD
    UsethefollowingproceduretorecoveriLO2fromabadflashupgradeusingthefirmwareDVD
    9.00,andiLO21.81:
    1.SettheiLO2SecurityOverrideSwitchonthesystemboardtoOn.Thelocationoftheswitch
    isprintedonalabellocatedontheinsideofthehoodcover.
    2.PowertheserveronandbootusingtheSmartUpdateFirmwareDVDversion9.00.TheISO
    imageisavailablefordownloadfromthefollowingwebsiteathttp://www.hp.com/go/

    3.Atthebootmenu,selectInteractiveFirmwareUpdateversion9.00.
    4.AftertheSelectLanguagescreendisplays,enterthefollowingkeystrokestoexittheHPSmart

    7.ToexecutetheiLO2firmwareupdateindirectmode,enterthecommand:

    8.AftertheiLO2firmwareupgradecompletes,powertheserveroffandsettheiLO2Security
    OverrideSwitchonthesystemboardtoOff.

    							TheiLO2firmwaredoesnotrespondtoSSLrequests
    TheiLO2firmwaredoesnotrespondtoSSLrequestswhenaJavawarningappears.Ifauseris
    loggingintoaniLO2browserconnectionanddoesnotcompletetheloginprocessbyresponding
    totheJavacertificatewarning,iLO2doesnotrespondtofuturebrowserrequests.Theusermust
    continuetheloginprocesstofreetheiLO2Webserver.
    TestingSSL
    Thefollowingtestchecksforthecorrectsecuritydialogprompt.Anon-workingserverwillproceed
    toaPage cannot be displayedmessage.Ifthistestfails,yourdomaincontrollerisnot
    acceptingSSLconnections,andprobablyhasnotbeenissuedacertificate.
    1.OpenabrowserandnavigatetoCertificatesfolder.Right-clickthefolderandselectRequestNewCertificate.
    c.VerifyTypeisdomaincontrollerandclickNextuntilacertificateisused.
    YoucanalsouseMicrosoftLDPtooltoverifySSLconnections.FormoreinformationontheLDP
    tool,gototheMicrosoftwebsiteathttp://www.microsoft.com/support.
    AnoldcertificatecancauseissueswithSSLandonthedomaincontrollerwhenitpointstoa
    previouslytrustedCAwiththesamename,whichisrarebutmighthappenifacertificateservice
    isaddedandremovedandthenaddedagainonthedomaincontroller.Toremoveoldcertificates
    andissueanewonefollowtheinstructionsaboveinstep2.
    ResettingiLO2
    Inrareinstances,itmightbenecessarytoresetiLO2;forexample,ifiLO2isnotrespondingto
    thebrowser.ToresetiLO2,youmustpowerdowntheserveranddisconnectthepowersupplies
    completely.
    TheiLO2firmwaremightresetitselfincertaininstances.Forexample,aninternaliLO2watchdog
    timerresetsifthefirmwaredetectsaniLO2issue.Ifafirmwareupgradeiscompletedoranetwork
    settingischanged,iLO2alsoresets.
    TheHPInsightManagementAgents5.40andlaterhavetheabilitytoresetiLO2.ToresetiLO2,
    chooseoneofthefollowingoptions:
    •SelecttheResetiLO2optionontheHPManagementAgentwebpageundertheiLO2section.
