    11. Using the Wi-Fi/NFC Function
    •When [Wi-Fi Password] is set to the default setting [OFF], third parties may intercept 
    Wi-Fi radio waves and collect the content of communications. Se t [Wi-Fi Password] to 
    [ON] to enable the password.  (P293, 294)
    Connecting with a password furt her enhances security. You can use the NFC function, 
    scan a QR code or manually enter a password to set up a connect ion.
    Using the NFC “ Near Field Communication ” function, you can easi ly transfer data 
    necessary for a Wi-Fi connection  between this camera and the smartphone/tablet.
    Preparation: 
    Set [NFC Operation] to [ON].  (P331)
    •If [ ] is not displayed on the smartphone, the NFC function of t he smartphone is disabled. 
    Read the operating instructions  of your smartphone and enable i t.
    1On the smartphone, start “ Image App ”.
    •If a message appears stating that a camera search is in progres s, close the message.
    2While  [ ]  is displayed on the screen of 
    the smartphone, touch the smartphone to 
    [ ] of  the camera.
    3When the connection confirmation screen 
    is displayed on the camera, select [Yes].
    4Touch the smartphone to [ ] of the 
    camera again.
    •
    St e ps  3 through 4 are not required from the 
    second time on.
    •It may take time to complete the connection.•When the smartphone has connected, an 
    image of this camera will be displayed on the 
    smartphone.
    •The connected smartphone is registered to this 
    camera.
    •If a connection attempt by touching fails, restart the “ Image A pp ”, and then display the 
    screen in step 1 again.
    •If a connection is established during single picture playback,  the picture will be transferred 
    to the smartphone.  (P299)
    Using a password to set up a connection

    This function can be used with the NFC compatible device with Android. (excluding 
    some models)
    •
    For information on the operation and settings of NFC-compatible  smartphones, refer to the 
    operating instructions of your device.

    •You can register up to 20 smartphones. When the number exceeds 20, registrations will be 
    deleted, starting from the oldest touched one.
    •Performing [Reset Wi-Fi Settings] will delete the smartphone re gistration.•If the camera is not recognized even when touching the smartpho ne, change positions and try 
    again.
    •Do not touch the smartphone to this camera strongly.•If there is a metal object between this camera and the smartphone, reading may fail. Also, 
    putting a sticker around the NFC area may deteriorate the commu nication performance.
    •This function is not available in the following cases:–When connecting to a PC or a printer
    –When recording motion pictures–When recording with [ ] ([4K Pre-Burst]) of 4K Photo–When using [Time Lapse Shot]

    •To scan a QR code with “ Image App ” on an iOS device, iOS 7.0 or later is required.
    Preparations: Set [Wi-Fi Password] to [ON].(>  [Setup]  > [Wi-Fi]  > [Wi-Fi Setup]  > [Wi-Fi Password]  > [ON])
    1Select the menu on the camera.  (P63)

    •When the camera is ready to be connected to the 
    smartphone, the QR code, SSID and password are displayed.
    •You can also display the information by pressing [Wi-Fi] on the  camera.
    2On the smartphone, start “ Image App ”.
    3Select [QR code].
    •When the smartphone is connected to a wireless access point, it may take time to display 
    [QR code].
    •(For iOS devices) A confirmation screen will be displayed. Sele ct [OK] to proceed.
    4Use the “ Image App ” to scan the QR code displayed on the screen  of the 
    camera.
    •
    If you press [MENU/SET] on the camera, the QR code will be enlarged. When it is difficult 
    to scan the QR code, try enlarging it.
    5Install the profile to the smartphone.
    •If the smartphone is locked with a passcode, enter the passcode to unlock the 
    smartphone.
    6When a message is displayed on the browser, press the home butt on to close 
    the browser.
    7Turn on the Wi-Fi function in the setting menu of the smartphon e.
    8On the Wi-Fi setting screen of the smartphone, select the 
    SSID displayed on the camera.
    9On the smartphone, start “ Image App ”.
    •
    (iOS devices) Steps 2 through 6 are not required from the second 
    time on.

    When connecting via a wireless access point ([Via Network]):
    1Select [Via Network].
    •Follow the connection procedure described on P325 to connect the camera to a wireless 
    access point.
    2Turn on the Wi-Fi function.3Connect the smartphone to the wireless access point to which th e camera is 
    connected.
    4Start “ Image App ”.  (P289)
    When directly connecting the camera and smartphone ([Direct]):
    1Select [Direct].
    •Select [Wi-Fi Direct] or [WPS Connection]¢, and follow the connection procedure 
    described on  P327 to connect the camera to the smartphone.
    ¢ WPS is a function that allows you to easily set up a connection with a wireless LAN device 
    and make security-related settings. To check whether your smart phone supports the 
    function, refer to the operating instructions of the smartphone .

    After use, terminate the connection to the smartphone.
    1Select the camera’s menu items to terminate the 
    Wi-Fi connection.

    Confirmation screen is displayed. It is ended when [Yes] is 
    selected.
    •You can also terminate the connection by pressing [Wi-Fi] on the camera. (P287)

    The recorded images are saved in the camera.•Some settings are not available.
    •When recording with 4K Pre-Burst with the smartphone, 
    terminate the connection only after switching to 4K Burst 
    recording by pressing [ ] on the camera.
    Not available in these cases:
    •In the following case, remote recording does not work:–Panorama Shot Mode–When using [Time Lapse Shot]
    –When [Snap Movie] is set to [ON]

    ∫Taking a picture while jumping
    When you hold your smartphone and jump, the camera’s 
    shutter can be released automatically as the smartphone 
    detects the peak of the jump. This function is convenient for 
    taking a picture while jumping.
    Operate the smartphone.
    [] >[] >Select the sensitivity.
    •
    [ ] will be displayed on the remote recording screen of the 
    smartphone.
    •We recommend that you take test pictures to determine the camer a’s angle and how hard you 
    jump and to make any desired adjustments.
    •For details, refer to the help section in the “ Image App ” menu.

    •
    When you play a motion picture, the camera transmits it to the  “ Image App ” at a reduced data 
    size. As a result, its image quality differs from that of the a ctual recorded motion picture. In 
    addition, depending on the smartphone or conditions of use, the  image quality may deteriorate 
    or the sound may skip during motion picture or picture playback .

    2Operate the smartphone.
    •
    The function can be assigned to the top, bottom, 
    left or right according to your preference.
    •Pictures in RAW format, AVCHD motion 
    pictures, MP4 motion pictures with a [Rec Quality] size of [4K] , and 4K burst files cannot be 
    saved.
    •3D pictures (MPO format) will be saved as 2D pictures (JPEG for mat).

    •You can switch the images to be 
    displayed by selecting the icon ( A

    on the top left of the screen. To 
    display images stored in the camera, 
    select [LUMIX].

    A Wi-Fi connection using NFC function is possible by touching the smartphone to this unit, 
    and you can easily transfer images displayed on the screen.
    An image can be sent on site immediately after taking it, so you can easily send it to the 
    smartphone
    ¢ of your family or friend.¢ Installing the “ Image App ” is required for use.
    Preparation: Set [NFC Operation] to [ON].  (P331)

    1Play back the picture in the camera.2Launch “ Image App ” on the smartphone.
    •If a message appears stating that a camera 
    search is in progress, close the message.
    3While  [ ]  is displayed on the connection 
    screen of the “ Image App ”, touch the 
    smartphone to  [ ] of the camera.
    •
    It may take time to complete the connection.•If a connection attempt by touching fails, restart 
    the “ Image App ”, and then display the screen 
    in step 
    2 again.•To transfer more than one image, repeat steps 1 and 3.
    (They cannot be transferred as a batch.)
    •Depending on the environment you are using, it may take a few m inutes to complete the image 
    transfer.
    Using the NFC function to easily transfer images on the camera
    The NFC function is not available for iOS devices (iPhone/iPod  touch/iPad).
