Recording tips and techniques: when to use manual focus
Manual focus is convenient when you fine-adj ust the focus in Macro Mode or decide 
in-focus portions in advance.
Achieving focus quickly using Auto Focus

Technique for Manual Focus
1 Rotate the manual ring to set the focus.
2 Rotate the manual ring a little further in 
the same direction.
3 Rotate the manual ring slightly in the 
opposite direction to fine-adjust the

Applicable modes: 
This mode allows you to take close-up pictures  of a subject, e.g. when taking pictures of 
flowers.

Fixing the Focus and the Exposure (AF/AE Lock)
Applicable modes: 
This is useful when you want to take a pi cture of a subject outside the AF area or the 
contrast is too strong and you c annot achieve appropriate exposure.
1Align the screen with the subject.
2Press and hold [AF/AE LOCK] to fix the focus or exposure.
•If you release [AF/AE LOCK], AF/AE Lock is canceled.
