Using the Wi-Fi function ∫This unit is compatible with NFC Using the NFC “ Near Field Communication ” function, you can easily transfer data necessary for a Wi-Fi connection between this camera and the smartphone. ∫ About the Wi-Fi connection lamp ∫ About the [Wi-Fi] button Pressing and holding [Wi-Fi] before connecting to Wi-Fi (When connecting to a smartphone) • The information required for connecting the smartphone to this unit (QR code, SSID and password) is displayed. (P255) Pressing [Wi-Fi] before connecting to Wi-Fi •Following items can be selected. •This owner’s manual describes the procedure for [New Connection]. Compatible models This function can be used with the NFC compatible device with Android (OS version 2.3.3 or higher). (excluding some models) • For information on the operation and settings of NFC-compatible smartphones, refer to the operating instructions of your device. Lit blue: The Wi-Fi connection is on standby Blinking blue: Sending/receiving data through the Wi-Fi connection [Wi-Fi]/[Fn2] button can be used in two ways, as [Wi-Fi] or as [Fn2] (function 2). Using the Wi-Fi function 252 What you can do with the [Wi-Fi] button when connected to Wi-Fi •Following items can be selected. ¢ This is not displayed when the destination of [Remote Shooting & View], [Playback on TV] or [Send Images Stored in the Camera] is set to [Printer] . ∫ Describing method When you see a step that says, “Select [Select a destination from History].” or a similar st ep, press the cursor buttons to select [Select a destination from History], and press [MENU/ SET]. • The camera cannot be used to connect to a public wireless LAN connection.•Use a IEEE802.11b, IEEE802.11g or IEEE802.11n compatible device when using a wireless access point. •We strongly recommend that you set an encryption to maintain information security.•It is recommended to use a fully charged battery when sending images. •When the battery indicator is flashing red, the connection with other equipment may not start or the connection may be disrupted. (A message such as [Communication error] is displayed.) •When sending images on a mobile network, high packet communication fees may be incurred depending on the details of your contract. •Pictures may not be completely sent depending on radio wave conditions. If the connection is terminated while sending pictures, pictures with missing sections may be sent. •Do not remove the memory card or battery or move to an area without any reception while sending images. •The monitor display may become distorted for an instant while connected to the service, however this will not affect the image being sent. [Terminate the Connection] Terminates the Wi-Fi connection. [Change the Destination]Terminates the Wi-Fi connection, and allows you to select a different Wi-Fi connection. [Register the Current Destination to Favorite]Registering the current connection destination or the connection method, you can easily connect with the same connection method next time. (P254) 2 Select [QR code], and then select [OK] . 3 Using “ Image App ”, scan the QR code displayed on the screen of the camera. • If you press [MENU/SET] on the camera, the QR code will be enlarged. When it is difficult to scan the QR code, try enlarging it. (If the scanning is not successful, move the camera and the smartphone further away from each other and try again or use a connection method other than the QR code method.) 4Install the profile of “IMAGE APP ”. •A message will be displayed on the browser. •If the smartphone is locked with a passcode, enter the passcode to unlock the smartphone. 5Press the home button to close the browser. 6 Turn on the Wi-Fi function in the setting menu of the smartphone. 7 Select the SSID displayed on the screen of the camera. 8 Return to the home screen, and then start “ Image App ”. When connecting with [Via Network]: 1Select [Via Network]. •Follow the connection procedure described on P289 to connect the camera to a wireless access point. 2Turn on the Wi-Fi function.3Connect the smartphone to the wireless access point to which the camera is connected. 4Start “ Image App ”. (P254) When connecting with [WPS Connection] ¢ in [Direct]: 1Select [Direct]. •Follow the connection procedure described on P291 to connect the camera to the smartphone. 2Start “ Image App ”. (P254) ¢WPS is a function that allows you to easily set up a connection with a wireless LAN device and make security-related settings. To check whether your smartphone supports the function, refer to the operating instructions of the smartphone. ∫Terminating the connection After use, terminate the connection to the smartphone. 1Press [Wi-Fi] on the camera. When the number exceeds 20, registrations will be deleted, starting from the oldest touched one. •Performing [Reset Wi-Fi Settings] will delete the smartphone registration.•If the camera is not recognized even when touching the smartphone, change positions and try again. •Do not touch the smartphone to this camera strongly.•For information on the operation and settings of NFC-compatible smartphones, refer to the operating instructions of your device. •If there is a metal object between this camera and the smartphone, reading may fail.
