    14Tro u b l e s h o o t i n g
    A variety of situations can affect the quality of your output. For optimal performance, 
    ensure these guidelines are followed:
    • Do not position the machine in direct sunlight or near a heat source such as a radiator.
    • Avoid sudden changes in the environment surrounding the machine. When a change 
    occurs, allow the machine at least two hours to adjust to its new environment, depending 
    on the extent of the change.
    • Follow routine maintenance schedules for cleaning areas such as the document glass 
    and touch screen.
    • Always set the Edge Guides in the paper trays to the size of the media in the tray and 
    ensure the screen is displaying the correct size.
    • Ensure paper clips and paper debris do not contaminate the machine.
    NOTE: For additional Troubleshooting information please refer to the System 
    Administration CD.

    Fault Clearance 
    When a fault occurs, the display screen provides recovery instructions. 
    Follow on-screen instructions to clear the fault
    NOTE: Any printed sheets removed will automatically be reprinted once the paper 
    jam is cleared.
    Paper Jams
    The display screen will indicate the location of the jam. Jam Clearance areas vary 
    depending on your machine model and configuration.

    Front Cover Area Jams
    1.Press on both the front cover latches on the sides of the machine to open the 
    front cover.
    2.Remove the print cartridge and remove any jammed paper. 
    3.Replace the print cartridge and close the front cover door.
    4.Open the paper trays and remove any jammed paper. 
    5.Close the paper tray.
    Rear Cover Area (Duplex Area) Jams
    1.Open the machine rear covers and release the green rear cover support. 
    Remove any jammed paper in the duplex area.
    WAR NING: The metallic surfaces in the fuser area are hot. Please use caution 
    when removing paper jams from this area and avoid touching any metallic 
    surfaces
    2.Slide the green fuser door latch to the right and open the fuser door to gain 
    access to the inside of the fuser module. Remove any jammed paper.

    3.Carefully close the fuser door. Ensure there is an audible click as the fuser door 
    latch slides back into position.
    4.Close the rear cover door.
    Document Jams
    1.Remove all the documents from the 
    document feeder and document 
    glass. 
    2.Lift the document handler cover and 
    remover any jammed paper.
    3.Close the document handler cover.
    4.Re-order the documents as at the 
    start of the job and reload. The 
    documents will be recycled 
    automatically to recover the job 
    integrity.
    NOTE: If you are unable to clear the 
    fault, contact your local Xerox Welcome 
    and Support Centre for assistance.
