TIGHTENING TORQUES TIP~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cylinder head bolt 1. Tig hten th e bolts to 25 Nm (2.5 m-kgf, 18 fl·lbf) w ith a to rq ue wre nch follow ing the tig htening order . 2. Perfo rm t he follow in g procedu re to all the bolts one by one in the tightening sequence as shown in the illustrat ion. a. L oosen the bolt. b. Tighten the bolt to 16 Nm (1.6 m-kgf , 12 ft·lb f) wit h a torque wrench . c . T ighten the bolt further to reach the spec ified angle 90°. TIP~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ C onne cting rod bolt 1. Tighten th e bolts to 20 Nm (2.0 m-kgf, 14 ft-lbf) 2. Tighten the bolts further to reach the spec ified angle 1 75 °- 185 °. TIP~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Crankca se bolt (ma in jou rnal) 1 . Lub ricate the bolt threads and both sides of the washers with engine oil. 2. Ti ghten th e bolts to 25 Nm (2.5 m·kgf , 18 fl·lbf) in th e orde r shown in th e illustra tion. 3. Fully loosen the bolt 1, and th e n tigh te n the bolt aga in to th e spec if ied torq ue shown below. Repea t this , o ne by one , until bolt 8, in th e orde r shown in th e illustra tion. Tig hten ing torque Bolts 1 to 6: 15 Nm (1.5 m· kgf, 11 fl·lbf) Bolts 7 a nd 8: 18 N m (1.8 m ·kgf, 13 fl ·lbf) 4. Tig hten the bolts i n the orde r show n in th e illustra tion to the spec ified ang le 60 °. 2-17
