    Windows Vis\ba®
    Wind\bws Vista® users may use the built-in wireless utility. If y\bu are using an\bther c\bmpany’s utility, please refer t\b the user 
    manual \bf y\bur wireless adapter f\br help with c\bnnecting t\b a wireless netw\brk. M\bst utilities will ha\fe a “site sur\fey” \bpti\bn 
    similar t\b the Wind\bws Vista® utility as seen bel\bw.
    Right-click \bn the wireless c\bmputer ic\bn in y\bur system tray (l\bwer-right 
    c\brner next t\b the time). Select Connect.to.a.network.
    If  y\bu  recei\fe  the  Wire\bess.Networks. Detected  bubble,  click  \bn  the 
    center \bf the bubble t\b access the utility.

    The utility will display any a\failable wireless netw\brks in y\bur area. Click 
    \bn a netw\brk (displayed using the SSID) and click the  Connect butt\bn.
    If y\bu get a g\b\bd signal but cann\bt access the Internet, check y\bu TCP/
    IP  settings  f\br  y\bur  wireless  adapter.  Refer  t\b  the  Networking.Basics

    WPA/WPA2
    It is rec\bmmended t\b enable wireless security (WPA/WPA2) \bn y\bur wireless r\buter \br access p\bint bef\bre c\bnfiguring y\bur 
    wireless adapter. If y\bu are j\bining an existing netw\brk, y\bu will need t\b kn\bw the security key \br passphrase being used.
    1.. Open the Wind\bws Vista® Wireless Utility by right-clicking \bn the 
    wireless c\bmputer ic\bn in y\bur system tray (l\bwer right c\brner \bf 
    screen). Select Connect.to.a.network. 
    2..Highlight the Wi-Fi name (SSID) y\bu w\buld like t\b c\bnnect t\b and

    3.  Enter the same security key \br passphrase (Wi-Fi passw\brd) that is \bn 
    y\bur r\buter and click Connect.
    It  may  take  20-30  sec\bnds  t\b  c\bnnect  t\b  the  wireless  netw\brk.  If  the 
    c\bnnecti\bn  fails,  please  \ferify  that  the  security  settings  are  c\brrect. The 
    key \br passphrase must be exactly the same as \bn th\le wireless r\buter.

    WPS/W\fN 2.0
    The r\buter supp\brts Wi-Fi pr\btecti\bn, referred t\b as WCN 2.0 in Wind\bws Vista®. The f\bll\bwing instructi\bns f\br setting this up 
    depends \bn whether y\bu are using Wind\bws Vista® t\b c\bnfigure the r\buter \br third party s\bftware.        
    When y\bu first set up the r\buter, Wi-Fi pr\btecti\bn is disabled and unc\bnfigured. T\b enj\by the benefits \bf Wi-Fi pr\btecti\bn, the 
    r\buter must be b\bth enabled and c\bnfigured. There are three basic meth\bds t\b acc\bmplish this: use Wind\bws Vista’s built-in 
    supp\brt f\br WCN 2.0, use s\bftware pr\b\fided by a third party, \br manually c\bnfigure. 
    If y\bu are running Wind\bws Vista®, l\bg int\b the r\buter and click the  Enab\be checkb\bx in the Basic > Wire\bess secti\bn. Use the 
    Current PIN that is displayed \bn the  Advanced > Wi-Fi.Protected. Setup secti\bn \br ch\b\bse t\b click the  Generate.New.PIN 
    butt\bn \br Reset.PIN.to.Defau\bt butt\bn. 
    If y\bu are using third party s\bftware t\b set up Wi-Fi Pr\btecti\bn, carefully f\bll\bw the directi\bns. When y\bu are finished, pr\bceed 
    t\b the next secti\bn t\b set up the newly-c\bnfigured r\buter.

    Wi-Fi passw\brd and click Connect.
    It  may  take  20-30  sec\bnds  t\b  c\bnnect  t\b  the  wireless  netw\brk.  If  the 
    c\bnnecti\bn fails, please \ferify that the WPA-PSK settings are c\brrect. The

    Troubleshoo\bing
    This chapter pr\b\fides s\bluti\bns t\b pr\bblems that can \bccur during the installati\bn and \bperati\bn \bf the DIR-626L. Read the 
    f\bll\bwing descripti\bns if y\bu are ha\fing pr\bblems. The examples bel\bw are illustrated in Wind\bws® XP.  If y\bu ha\fe a different 
    \bperating system, the screensh\bts \bn y\bur c\bmputer will l\b\bk similar \lt\b the f\bll\bwing examples.
    1.. Why.can’t.I.access.the.web-based.configuration.uti\bity?
    When entering the IP address \bf the D-Link r\buter (192.168.0.1 f\br example), y\bu are n\bt c\bnnecting t\b a website n\br d\b y\bu 
    ha\fe t\b be c\bnnected t\b the Internet. The de\fice has the utility built-in t\b a ROM chip in the de\fice itself. Y\bur c\bmputer must 
    be \bn the same IP s\lubnet t\b c\bnnect t\b the web-based utility. 
    •  Make sure y\bu ha\fe an updated Ja\fa-enabled web br\bwser. We rec\bmmend the f\bll\bwing: 
      - Micr\bs\bft Internet Expl\brer® 7 and higher
    -  M\bzilla Firef\bx 3.5 and higher
    -  G\b\bgle™ Chr\bme 8 and higher
    -  Apple Safari 4 and higher
    •  Verify  physical  c\bnnecti\fity  by  checking  f\br  s\blid  link  lights  \bn  the  de\fice.  If  y\bu  d\b  n\bt  get  a  s\blid  link  light,  try  using  a 
    different cable \br c\bnnect t\b a different p\brt \bn the de\fice if p\bssible. If the c\bmputer is turned \bff, the link light may n\bt be 
    \bn.
    •  Disable any Internet security s\bftware running \bn the c\bmputer. S\bftware firewalls such as Z\bne Alarm, Black Ice, Sygate, 
    N\brt\bn Pers\bnal Firewall, and Wind\bws
    ® XP firewall may bl\bck access t\b the c\bnfigurati\bn pages. Check the help files included 
    with y\bur firewall s\bftware f\br m\bre inf\brmati\bn \bn disabling \br \lc\bnfiguring it.

    •  C\bnfigure y\bur Internet settings:
    • G\b t\b  Start >  Settings >  Contro\b.Pane\b. D\buble-click the  Internet.\fptions Ic\bn. Fr\bm the  Security tab, click 
    the butt\bn t\b rest\bre the settings t\b their defaults.
    •  Click the  Connection tab and set the dial-up \bpti\bn t\b Ne\fer Dial a C\bnnecti\bn. Click the LAN Settings butt\bn. 
    Make sure n\bthing is checked\l. Click \fK. 
    •  G\b t\b the Advanced tab and click the \lbutt\bn t\b rest\bre these settings t\b their defaults. Click \fK three times.
    •  Cl\bse y\bur web br\bwser (if \bpen) and \b\lpen it.
    •  Access the web management. Open y\bur web br\bwser and enter the IP address \bf y\bur D-Link r\buter in the address bar. This 
    sh\buld \bpen the l\bgin page f\br y\bur web management. 
    •  If y\bu still cann\bt access the c\bnfigurati\bn, unplug the p\bwer t\b the r\buter f\br 10 sec\bnds and plug back in. Wait ab\but 30 
    sec\bnds and try accessing the c\bnfigurati\bn. If y\bu ha\fe multiple c\bmputers, try c\bnnecting using a different c\bmputer.
    2.. What.can.I.do.if.I.forgot.my.password?
    If y\bu f\brg\bt y\bur passw\brd, y\bu must reset y\bur r\buter. Unf\brtunately this pr\bcess will change all y\bur settings back t\b the 
    fact\bry defaults.
    T\b reset the r\buter, l\bcate the reset butt\bn (h\ble) \bn the rear panel \bf the unit. With the r\buter p\bwered \bn, use a paperclip 
    t\b h\bld the butt\bn d\bwn f\br 10 sec\bnds. Release the butt\bn and the r\buter will g\b thr\bugh its reb\b\bt pr\bcess. Wait ab\but 30 
    sec\bnds  t\b  access  the  r\buter. The  default  IP  address  is  192.168.0.1. When  l\bgging  in,  the  username  is  admin  and  lea\fe  the 
    passw\brd b\bx empty.
