[Burst] SettingsDescription of settings [On] Burst speed approx. 3.7 pictures/second Number of recordable pictures max. 6 pictures •Focus, exposure, and White Balance will be fixed to the settings for the first picture. Depending on changes in the brightness of the subject, the recording may be brighter or darker from the second picture. •The Burst speed (pictures/second) may become slower depending on the recording environment, such as in dark places, if the ISO sensitivity is high etc. [Hi-Speed Burst] Burst speed approx. 10 pictures/second Number of recordable pictures max. 100 pictures •This can be set only during Normal Picture Mode.•The picture size is fixed to 3M (4:3), 2.5M (3:2), 2M (16:9) or 2.5M (1:1).•The Burst speed changes according to the recording conditions.•The number of Burst recording pictures are limited by the picture-taking conditions and the type and/or status of the card used. •The number of Burst recording pictures may increase when you use a card with fast writing speed or card is formatted. •The focus, zoom, exposure, White Balance, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity are fixed to the settings for the first picture. •The ISO sensitivity is automatically adjusted. However, the ISO sensitivity is increased to make the shutter speed become high-speed. •Depending on the operating conditions, it may take time to take the next picture if you repeat taking a picture.

Recording - 94 - Applicable modes: Sets various colour effects, including making the picture sharper, brighter, or applying a sepia tone. ¢ 1 This can be set only when Intelligent Auto Mode is set. ¢ 2 This can be set only during Normal Picture Mode. Applicable modes: AF assist lamp will illuminate the subject when the shutter button is pressed halfway, making it easier for the camera to focus when recording in low light conditions. (Larger AF area is displayed depending on the recording conditions.) Settings: [On]/[Off] [Color Mode] SettingsDescription of settings []([Standard])This is the standard setting. [AF Assist Lamp] Note •The effective distance of the assist lamp is a maximum of approximately 1.5 m. (4.9 feet) •When you do not want to use the AF Assist Lamp A (e.g. when taking pictures of animals in dark places), set the [AF Assist Lamp] to [Off]. In this case, it will become more difficult to focus on the subject. •[AF Assist Lamp] is fixed to [Off] in [Scenery], [Night Scenery], [Handheld Night Shot], [Sunset], and [Glass Through] in Scene Mode.

- 95 - Recording Applicable modes: When Red-Eye Reduction ([ ], [ ]) is selected, Digital Red-Eye Correction is performed whenever the flash is used. The camera automatically detects red-eye and corrects the picture. Settings: [On]/[Off] Note • Only available when [AF Mode] is set to [ š] and Face Detection is active.•Under certain circumstances, red-eye cannot be corrected. Applicable modes: Using this mode, jitter during picture taking is detected, and the camera automatically compensates for the jitter, enabling jitter-free images to be taken. When recording motion pictures, “Active Mode” (stabiliser for motion pictures) will automatically function. This decreases the jitter of the image when recording motion picture while walking, etc. Settings: [On]/[Off] Note • Stabiliser is fixed to [Off] in [Panorama Shot] in Scene Mode.•The setting is fixed to [On] in [Handheld Night Shot] in Scene Mode.•During motion picture recording, this setting is fixed to [On] and the “Active Mode” is enabled. Note that “Active Mode” is not available when [VGA] in [MP4] is set. •In “Active Mode”, stronger effect of the correction can be achieved at the wide end.•The stabiliser function may not be effective in the following cases. Be careful of camera jitter when you press the shutter button. –When there is a lot of jitter.–When the zoom magnification is high.–In Digital Zoom range.–When taking pictures while following a moving subject.–When the shutter speed becomes slower to ta ke pictures indoors or in dark places. Recording - 96 - Applicable modes: You can take a picture with date and time of recording.Note • Date information for pictures recorded with the [Date Stamp] set cannot be deleted.•When printing pictures with [Date Stamp] at a shop or with a printer, the date will be printed on top of the other if you choose to print with the date. •If the time has not been set, you cannot stamp with the date information.•The setting is fixed to [Off] in the following cases.–In [Panorama Shot] in Scene Mode–[Auto Bracket] and [Burst] in [Rec] Mode menu–When recording motion pictures•When Intelligent Auto Mode is selected, the [Date Stamp] feature is disabled. Setting of other Recording Mode will be reflected. •[Text Stamp], [Resize] and [Cropping] cannot be set for pictures recorded with [Date Stamp] set. •Even if you take a picture with [Date Stamp] set to [Off], it is possible to stamp dates into the recorded pictures using [Text Stamp] (P108) or setup the Date print (P115, 146) . •Refer to P20 for details. Applicable modes: This sets up the data format of motion pictures. [Rec Mode] SettingsDescription of settings [AVCHD] Select this format to record HD (high definition) video for playback on your HDTV using an HDMI connection. [MP4] Select this format to record standard definition video for playback on your PC.

When [AVCHD] is selected When [MP4] is selectedNote • What is bit rate This is the volume of data for a definite period of time, and the quality becomes higher when the number gets bigger. This unit is using the “VBR” recording method. “VBR” is an abbreviation for “Variable Bit Rate”, and the bit rate (volume of data for definite period of time) is changed automatically depending on the subject to record. Therefore, the recording time is shortened when a subject with fast movement is recorded. Settings: [Auto]/[Off] Note • Sound quality may be different than usual when [Wind Cut] is set.•Not available with [Miniature Effect] in Creative Control Mode. [Continuous AF] [Wind Cut]

Playback/Editing - 100 - Playback/EditingVarious methods of playback You can play back the recorded pictures in various methods.
