    							• The default of [Printer Bypass Paper Size] is [Auto Detect].
    Specifying regular sizes using the control panel
    1. Press the [User Tools/Counter] key.
    2.Press [Tray Paper Settings].
    3. Press [Printer Bypass Paper Size].
    4. Select the paper size.
    5.Press [OK].
    6. Press the [User Tools/Counter] key.

    							Specifying a custom size paper using the control panel
    1.Press the [User Tools/Counter] key.
    2. Press [Tray Paper Settings].
    3. Press [Printer Bypass Paper Size].
    4. Press [Custom Size].
    If a custom size is already specified, press [Change Size].
    5. Press [Vertical].
    6. Enter the vertical size using the number keys, and then press [
    ].
    7.Press [Horizontal].
    8. Enter the horizontal size using the number keys, and then press [
    ].
    9. Press [OK] twice.
    10. Press the [User Tools/Counter] key.
    Specifying thick paper, thin paper, or OHP transparencies for paper type using the
    control panel
    • Use A4 or 8 1
    / 2 × 11 size OHP transparencies, and specify their size.

    							• Usually only one side of OHP transparencies can be used for printing. Be sure to load them with theprint side up.
    • When printing onto OHP transparencies, remove printed sheets one by one.
    1. Press the [User Tools/Counter] key.
    2.Press [Tray Paper Settings].
    3. Press [Printer Bypass Paper Size], and then specify the paper size.
    4. Press [OK].
    5. Press [
    Next].
    6. Press [Paper Type: Bypass Tray].
    7. Select the proper items, according to the paper type you want to specify.
    • Press [OHP (Transparency)] on the [Paper Type] area when loading OHP transparencies.• To load thin or thick paper, press [Do not Display] on the [Paper Type] area, and then select the appropriate paper thickness in the [Paper Thickness] area.
    8. Press [OK].
    9. Press the [User Tools/Counter] key.
    • We recommend that you use specified OHP transparencies.

    							Loading Paper into the Large Capacity Tray
    (mainly Europe and Asia)
    The LCT can hold A4
     paper only. If you want to print on 8 1
    / 2 × 11 or B5 JIS from the LCT, contact
    your service representative.
    (mainly North America)
    The LCT can hold 8 1
    / 2 × 11
     paper only. If you want to print on A4 or B5 JIS from the LCT, contact
    your service representative.
    The extension unit is required to load A4
    , B4 JIS, 8 1
    / 2 × 14, or 8 1
    / 2 × 11.
    • Check the paper edges are aligned at the left side.
    1. Check that paper in the paper tray is not being used, and then open the top cover of the
    LCT.
    2. Load paper into the paper tray with the print side up.
    Do not stack paper over the limit mark.
    3. Press the [Down] key.
    The key blinks while the bottom plate is moving down.

    							4.Load paper by repeating steps 2 and 3.
    5. Close the top cover of the LCT.

    							Loading Paper into the Wide Large Capacity
    Tray
    • Check that the paper edges are aligned with the left side.
    1. Check that paper in the paper tray is not being used, and then pull the tray carefully out
    until it stops.
    2. Load paper into the paper tray with print side up.
    Do not stack paper over the limit mark.
    3. Carefully push the paper tray fully in.
    • If you select Thick Paper 2 to 4, [Coated Paper], [Label Paper], or [OHP (Transparency)] in [Tray
    Paper Settings], air is blown out automatically to fan the paper loaded in the wide LCT. Fan thispaper before loading it. For details, see page 121 "Fanning the Paper".
    • Various sizes of paper can be loaded in the wide LCT by adjusting the positions of side fences and end fence. For details, see "Changing the Paper Size in the Wide Large Capacity Tray", Paper

    							• You can load envelopes in the wide LCT. When loading envelopes, place them in the correctorientation. For details, see page 159 "Envelopes".9. Adding Paper and Toner

    							Loading Paper into the Interposer
    • Do not place anything on top of or leave documents on the sensor. This may lead to the paper sizenot being correctly scanned or paper jams.
    • When using the Z-fold function, the paper in the interposer must be of the same size as the prints after they have been folded. If the paper in the interposer is larger than the Z-folded sheets, a
    misfeed might occur.
    1. Load paper orderly.
    Do not stack paper over the limit mark.
    2. Adjust the side fences to the paper size.
    • Load paper with its printed side up (the front side).
    • Load paper in the interposer in the same orientation as paper in the paper tray.
    • The staple position or punch hole position will be on the left side of the paper, when you are facing the machine.
    • To load the paper in the interposer, align the orientation of originals in the ADF as shown below.
