    You can purchase the optional Multi-Function Link¨ package (also called
    ÒMissing LinkÓ). Multi-Function Link
    ¨ turns your fax machine into a
    multi-function center, by enabling you to use your fax machine as a printer and a
    scanner and to use it to fax messages from Windows
    ¨ applications in your
    computer. The Multi-Function Link
    ¨ option is for Windows¨ 3.1x and Windows¨
    95/98.
    Multi-Function Link
    ¨ is available at most Brother retailers. If you cannot find it,
    you can order Multi-Function Link
    ¨ directly from Brother. The item number is
    PCI-1.
    Installation instructions will be included with PCI-1. However, it is
    important that you hook up your fax machine to your computer

    Packing and
    Shipping the Fax
    Machine
    Whenever you transport the fax machine, use the packing materials that came
    with your fax machine. If you do not pack the fax machine correctly, you could
    void your warranty.
    1Unplug the fax machine from the AC outlet.
    NOTE:Do not unplug the fax machine after a print job until you hear the
    final click.
    2Remove the paper wire extension, paper support, document support,
    telephone line cord, printing cartridge and handset, and pack them.
    3Wrap the fax machine in the plastic bag and place it in the original carton
    with the original packing material.
    4Place additional parts (such as cords and telephone line) and documents
    (such as your manual) into the carton.
    5Close the carton.
