    3Remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit and keep it in a safe
    place.  For more information, see ÒReplacing the Toner CartridgeÓ on
    pages 112Ð116.

    Discard the used drum unit according to local regulations.  If you are not
    sure of them, call your local Sanitation Department.  Be sure to seal the
    drum unit tightly so toner powder does not spill out of the unit.  When
    discarding used drum units, keep them separate from domestic garbarage.
    4Wait to unpack the new drum unit until immediately before installing it.
    Place the old drum unit into the aluminum bag and discard it according to
    local regulations.

    5Gently rock the new drum from side to side five or six times.

    Do NOT remove the clear plastic starter sheet!

    nWait to unpack the drum unit immediately before installing it into the
    fax machine.  If an unpacked drum unit is subjected to excessive direct
    sunlight or room light, the unit may be damaged.
    nHandle the toner cartridge and the drum unit carefully because they
    contain toner.  If toner scatters and your hands or clothes get dirty,
    immediately wipe or wash with cold water.

    6Reinstall the toner cartridge into the new drum unit.  For more
    information, see ÒReplacing the Toner CartridgeÓ on pages 112Ð116.
    7Holding the new drum unit by its handles, install it.  Close the top
    cover.

    8The fax machine will eject the clear plastic starter sheet automatically.

    nDo not touch the scanner window with your finger.
    nHandle the toner cartridge and drum unit carefully because they contain

    Standard Telephone  and
    FCC Notices (For 120V Models Only)
    These notices are in effect on models sold and used in
    the United States only.
    This equipment is hearing aid compatible.
    When programming emergency numbers and/or making test calls to
    emergency numbers:
    nRemain on the line and briefly explain to the dispatcher the reason for
    the call before hanging up.
    nPerform these activities in the off-peak hours, such as early morning or
    late evening.
    This equipment complies with Part 68 of FCC Rules. On the rear panel of this
    equipment is a label that contains, among other information, the FCC Registration
    Number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this equipment. You must,
    upon request, provide this information to your telephone company.
    You may safely connect this equipment to the telephone line by means of a
    standard modular jack, USOC RJ11C.
    An FCC compliant telephone cord with a modular plug is provided with this
    equipment. This equipment is designed to be connected to the telephone line or
    premiseÕs wiring using a compatible modular jack that is Part 68 compliant. See
    the Installation section of this manual for details.

    The REN is useful to determine the quantity of devices you may connect to your
    telephone line and still have those devices ring when your telephone number is
    called. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the RENs of all devices connected to
    one line should not exceed five (5). To be certain of the number of devices you
    may connect to your line, as determined by the REN, you should contact your
    local telephone company to determine the maximum REN for your calling area.
    If your FAX 2750 or FAX 3750 damages the telephone line, the telephone
    company may discontinue your service temporarily. If possible, they will notify
    you in advance. If advanced notice is not practical, you will be notified as soon
    as possible. You will be informed of your right to file a complaint with the FCC.
    Your telephone company may make changes to its facilities, equipment,
    operations or procedures that could affect the proper functioning of your
    equipment. If they do, you will be notified in advance to give you an opportunity
    to maintain uninterrupted telephone service.
    If you experience trouble with your fax machine, please contact a Brother
    Authorized Service Center for information on obtaining service or repair. The
    telephone company may ask that you disconnect this equipment from the line until
    the problem has been corrected or until you are sure that the equipment is not
    malfunctioning.

    Laser Safety (For 110Ð120V Models Only)
    This equipment is certified as a Class I laser product under the U.S. Department
    of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Radiation Performance Standard
    according to the Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968.  This
    means that the equipment does not produce hazardous laser radiation.
    Since radiation emitted inside the equipment is completely confined within
    protective housings and external covers, the laser beam cannot escape from the
    fax machine during any phase of user operation.

    for ventilation; to ensure reliable operation of the product and to
    protect it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or
    covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the product

    8This product should be operated from the type of power source

    13Do not attempt to service this product yourself, as opening or removing

    14This product has no main ON/OFF switch.  Therefore, it is very
    important that you have easy access to the main plug and the main
    socket to which the plug is connected, in case the main power to the
    machine must be disconnected quickly.
    15Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to a
    Brother  Authorized Service Center under the following conditions:
    AWhen the power cord is damaged or frayed.
    BIf liquid has been spilled into the product.
    CIf the product has been exposed to rain or water.
    DIf the product does not operate normally when the operating
    instructions are followed. Adjust only those controls that are
    covered by the operating instructions. Improper adjustment of other
    controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work
    by a qualified technician to restore the product to normal operation.
    EIf the product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.
    FIf the product exhibits a distinct change in performance, indicating
    a need for service.
    16To protect your product against power surges, we recommend the use of
