    5.8 Useful internet fax functions
    5.8.1 Editing the message for transmission (E-mail subject)
    When transmitting a scanned image via internet fax, you can edit the body and subject of the e-mail to send. 
    You can also enter the body of the e-mail using a template registered in advance.

    For details on registering e-mail templates, refer to page 8-40 or Registering Templates in Chapter 3 of the 
    User’s Guide Message Board Operations.
    1Load the document, and press .
    2Press [Advanced].
    3Press [e-mail Subject].
    4Press [Template].
    5Select the template to use, and press [Enter].
    %If you want to enter a new subject and text without using a 
    template, select a box with nothing registered in it. If all the 
    boxes already have a template registered, select any box 
    from 01 to 10.
    %If you selected [Auto Subject + Text], you cannot edit the 
    subject and mail text. Proceed to step 10.
    %If you selected [Auto Subject], you can only edit the mail 
    text. Proceed to step 8.
    6Press [Subject].
    %If you do not want to edit it, proceed to step 8.

    7Enter the subject, and press [Enter].
    %Up to 80 characters can be entered for the subject.

    tering Characters in the Users Guide Administrator Oper-
    ations.
    8Press [Mail Text].
    %If you do not want to edit it, proceed to step 10.
    9Enter the mail text, and press [Enter].
    %Up to 1024 characters can be entered for the mail text.
    %Press [ ] to enter a line break. A line break takes up two 
    characters.
    %Press [ViewText] to confirm the mail text that has been en-
    tered. Press [Edit] to return to the entry screen.

    tering Characters in the Users Guide Administrator Oper-
    ations.
    10Press [Enter].
    11Press [Close].
    12Specify the destination, and press .

    5.8.2 Transmitting scanned data as individual files (Batch transmission)
    By disabling batch transmission, you can transmit a scanned document with each page as a separate file.
    1Load the document, and press .
    2Press [Advanced].
    3Press [Batch Tx].
    4Select [OFF], and press [Enter].
    %If you select [ON], the batch transmission setting is en-
    abled.
    5Press [Close].
    6Specify the destination, and press .

    5.8.3 Selecting the file format (File format)
    Select the file format for saving the file. You can use the following three file formats.
    1Load the document, and press .
    2Press [Advanced].
    3Press [FileFormat].
    4Select the file format, and press [Enter].
    5Press [Close].
    6Specify the destination, and press .

    TIFF-S The simple mode TIFF format.
    Documents are all converted to A4 size, 200 dpi for transmission.
    When the destination machine cannot receive TIFF files, use this file format.
    TIFF The full mode TIFF format.
    Documents are transmitted with the document size and resolution set when scanning.
    PDF The PDF format.
    Documents can be sent in this format when the destination is a computer or this product.

    5.8.4 Offramp transmission
    When you send an e-mail to the machine, the machine transmits the mail text and attached file via fax.
    You can attach a TIFF or PDF file.
    d
    Only TIFF files in the simple mode TIFF format can be forwarded. The TIFF Maker software included on the 
    DVD that comes with the machine enables you to easily convert data created in various application software 
    into TIFF files. For details, refer to 
    page 5-60.
    Only PDF files of monochrome scans created using this machine can be forwarded.
    There are restrictions on the senders that can perform forwarding. For details, refer to Chapter 3, Setting the 
    Connection Environment in the User’s Guide Message Board Operations.
    Up to 30 faxes can be transmitted.
    1Create the e-mail.
    2Attach a file as necessary.
    3Enter FAXNO:=, followed by the fax number for the destination, enclosed in < >.
    %Enter this in the first line.
    %To specify multiple destinations, separate them using commas.
    Example: FAXNO:=
    4Enter the message, as necessary.
    5Transmit the e-mail to the machine.
    The fax will start transmitting when the machine receives the e-mail.

    5.8.5 Creating a TIFF file for an internet fax
    You can use the KONICA MINOLTA TiffMaker to convert documents created in application software to TIFF 
    files that can be used for internet faxes.

    Install the KONICA MINOLTA TiffMaker to the computer before using this function. For details on installing 
    the driver, refer to Chapter 3, Installing to Windows in the User’s Guide Print Operations. 
    The procedure for a document created with Microsoft Office Word 2007 is described here as an example.
    1Create and edit the document to transmit.
    2Execute a print command in the application software.
    %When using Microsoft Office Word 2007, click [Print (P)].
    3Select KONICA MINOLTA TiffMaker as the printer.
    4Open the detailed print settings screen.
    %When using Microsoft Office Word 2007, click [Printing Preferences].
    %To transmit without changing the detailed settings, proceed to step 7.

    5Set the detailed settings as necessary.
    6Click [OK] to close the advanced settings screen.
    7Start printing.
    %When using Microsoft Office Word 2007, click [OK].
    The Save As dialog box is displayed.
    8Enter the filename to save with.
    9Specify the location to save to.
    10Click [Save].Item Description
    Paper Settings Document 
    SizeSelect the size of the document you created.
    Orientation Select the orientation of the document you created.
    Enlarge/Re-
    duceChange this setting to enlarge or reduce the document before 
    transmitting it.
    • Zoom: 
    Select the zoom ratio to specify, between 25% and 400%.
    •Fit to Paper: 
    The zoom ratio is automatically set by specifying the docu-
    ment size and paper size.
    Paper Size Select the paper size to print with at the destination.
    Resolution • 200 e 200 dpi: 
    Equivalent to setting the resolution to Normal when trans-
    mitting from the machine.
    • 400 e 400 dpi: 
    Equivalent to setting the resolution to Fine when transmit-
    ting from the machine.
    • 600 e 600 dpi: 
    Equivalent to setting the resolution to Fine when transmit-
    ting from the machine.
    Advanced Options The processing of the image data may become slower or the 
    printing may not be performed correctly, depending on the ap-
    plication.
    In such cases, printing may be able to be performed correctly 
    by enabling this setting.
    However, it is recommended that you usually use the machine 
    with this setting disabled because it may cause printing to not 
    be performed correctly.
