    the [OK] key.
    – Two page arrangements are available for 4in1 copies.
    The manufacturer’s default setting is PATTERN1.
    – For details on specifying the setting, refer to Selecting the 4in1 
    page order (4IN1 COPY ORDER parameter) on page 7-76.
    The indicator on the [Combine Original] key lights up.
    4If necessary, specify any other copy settings.
    – Refer to Before making copies on page 4-3.

    5Using the keypad, type in the desired number of copies, and then press 
    the [Start] key.

    6.3 Making double-sided copies
    Double-sided copies in addition to 2in1 and 4in1 double-sided copies can be 
    made from single-sided or double-sided documents.

    Note 
    The optional duplex unit must be installed. (bizhub 211 only)
    The type of double-sided copy that can be made depends on the options 
    that are installed.
    When copying double-sided documents, use reverse automatic 
    document feeder DF-605.

    * To copy double-sided documents using the original glass, press the [Simplex/Duplex] key, and 
    then select 1-SIDE%2-SIDE to scan the front and back sides of the document in order.
    Precautions on double-sided copying
    Double-sided copying is not possible under the following conditions:
    -Double-sided documents are loaded into the automatic document 
    feeder.
    -Documents of mixed widths are loaded into the document feeder.
    -The manual bypass tray is selected.
    -Special paper (cards, OHP transparencies, envelopes, or label sheets) is 
    loaded.
    -The paper type setting is 1-SIDE.
    -Paper with a width less than 140 mm is selected.

    6.4 Making copies using the BOOK SEPARATION 
    function
    1Position the document to be copied.
    – Refer to Loading the document on page 4-18.
    2Press the [Function] key.
    The COPY FUNCTION menu 
    appears.
    3Press the [+] or [,] key until BOOK SEPARATION is selected, and 
    then press the [OK] key.

    4Press the [+] or [,] key until ON is selected, and then press the [OK] 
    key.
    – The document type can be changed in the Utility mode. The default 
    binding setting is for left-bound books. To copy right-bound books, 
    change the document type using the BINDING POSITION 
    parameter in the Utility mode. (Refer to Selecting the book binding 
    position (BINDING POSITION parameter) on page 7-66.)
    / appears beside BOOK SEPARATION in the COPY FUNCTION 
    menu.
    5To erase around the text or along the binding, select ERASE in the 
    COPY FUNCTION menu, and then press the [OK] key.
    – To begin copying, continue with step 7.

    6Press the [+] or [,] key until FRAME ERASE, CENTER ERASE or 
    CENTER+FRAME ERASE is selected, and then press the [OK] key.
    – For details on the areas that are erased, refer to Frame/center 
    erasing methods on page 6-22.
    – The width of the erased area for the FRAME ERASE setting can be 
    set between 5 and 20 mm, in 1 mm increments. The manufacturer’s 
    default setting is 10 mm.
    – The width of the erased area for the CENTER ERASE setting is fixed 
    at 10 mm.
    – The width of the erased area for the FRAME ERASE setting can be 
    changed using the ERASE SETTING parameter in the Utility mode. 
    (Refer to Adjusting the width of the erased area (ERASE 
    SETTING parameter) on page 7-69.)

    7Press the [Back] key.
    The main screen appears again.
