    6.5 Erasing sections of copies (ERASE function)
    Areas such as the unclean-looking frames around documents can be erased.
    Precautions on the erased margin location
    The location of the erased area in the copy depends on how the document 
    is positioned.

    1Position the document to be copied.
    – Refer to Loading the document on page 4-18.
    2Press the [Function] key.
    The COPY FUNCTION menu 
    appears.
    3Press the [+] or [,] key until ERASE is selected, and then press the 
    [OK] key.
    4Press the [+] or [,] key until LEFT ERASE or UPPER ERASE is 
    selected, and then press the [OK] key.
    / appears beside ERASE in the COPY FUNCTION menu.

    6.6 Negative/positive-reversed copying (NEG.  POS. 
    function)
    Copies can be made with the light-colored areas of the document (media) 
    and the dark-colored areas of the document (text) reversed.
    Making copies using the NEG.  POS. function
    1Position the document to be copied.
    – Refer to Loading the document on page 4-18.
    2Press the [Function] key.
    The COPY FUNCTION menu 
    appears.
    3Press the [+] or [,] key until NEG.  POS. is selected, and then 
    press the [OK] key.

    6.7 Making copies for filing (PAGE MARGIN Function)
    Copies can be printed with a filing margin so they can easily be stored in filing 
    binders.
    Left binding
    Copies are printed with the contents of the document slightly shifted to the 
    right in order to create a binding margin at the left.
    Precautions on the binding margin location
    The location of the binding margin in the copy depends on how the 
    document is positioned.

    1Position the document to be copied.
    – Refer to Loading the document on page 4-18.
    2Press the [Function] key.
    The COPY FUNCTION menu 
    appears.
    3Press the [+] or [,] key until PAGE MARGIN is selected, and then 
    press the [OK] key.
    4Press the [+] or [,] key until ON is selected, and then press the [OK] 
    key.
    – The width for the binding can be set between 0 and 20 mm, in 1 mm 
    increments. The manufacturer’s default setting is 10 mm.

    SETTING parameter in the Utility mode. (Refer to Adjusting the 
    margin width (MARGIN SETTING parameter) on page 7-67.)

    5Press the [Back] key.
    The main screen appears again. The indicator on the [Function] key 
    lights up.
    6If necessary, specify any other copy settings.

    7Using the keypad, type in the desired number of copies, and then press 
    the [Start] key.

    6.8 Registering copy settings
    Store up to two of the more frequently used copy setting programs for 
    immediate recall when necessary.
    The following copy settings can be registered.
    -Number of copies
    -Paper source (including AUTO)
    -Quality
    -Density (including AUTO)
    -Functions available with the [Function] key (ERASE, PAGE MARGIN, X/Y 
    ZOOM, NEG. ´ POS. and BOOK SEPARATION)
    -Mixed Original
    -Settings on the COMBINE ORIGINAL menu
    If a custom paper size is specified for a paper drawer, the custom paper size 
    is not registered. For details on registering custom paper sizes, refer to 
    CUSTOM SIZE MEMORY on page 7-30.

    Note 
    Copy programs cannot be stored while the machine is warming up or 
    while a copy job is paused (Interrupt mode).
    1Select the various settings.

    2Press the [Mode Memory] key.

    3Press the [+] or [,] key until REGISTER is selected, and then press 
    the [OK] key.
    4Press the [+] or [,] key until the desired program number is selected, 
    and then press the [OK] key.
    – If copy settings have already been registered with the selected 
    program number, the previously stored copy settings are deleted 
    and replaced with the new ones.
    The current copy settings are registered.
