3 11 Connecting with other devices Storing recorded still pictures and motion pictures on your PC Copying still pictures and motion pictures Preparations • Install “PHOTOfunSTUDIO” on your computer before starting the copying procedure. (→310) • T urn on the camera and computer. 1Connect camera to computer • Turn the camera monitor toward you. • Check the plug direction and insert it straight in. (If the cable is in\ serted in the wrong direction, the plug could become deformed and cause faulty operation) Also, do not insert into the wrong socket. Doing so may cause damage to this unit. • Do not use any other USB connection cables except the supplied one or a \ genuine Panasonic USB connection cable (DMW -USBC1: optional). Align the marks, and insert. [AV OUT/DIGITAL] socket [Access] (sending data) • Do not disconnect the USB connection cable (supplied) while [Access] is displayed. USB connection cable (supplied) 2Use to select [PC] and press [MENU/SET] • If you set the [USB Mode] (→ 70) to [PC] in the [Setup] menu in advance, the camera will be automatically connected to the PC without displaying the [USB Mode] selection screen. • If you connect the camera to a PC with the [USB Mode] set to [PictBridge(PTP)], a message may appear on the PC screen. In such a case, close the message and remov\ e the USB connection cable safely , and then reset the [USB Mode] to [PC]. 3Use “PHOTOfunSTUDIO” to copy pictures to your computer • Do not delete or move copied files and folders using Windows Explorer or\ other browsers. Otherwise, you will not be able to play back or edit the files using “\ PHOT OfunSTUDIO”. ■For PTP mode The camera can be connected to your computer even if [USB Mode] (→70) is set to [PictBridge(PTP)]. • Data can be read only from the card in the PC. • It may not be possible to import if there are 1,000 or more pictures on \ the card. • Motion pictures cannot be played back in the PTP mode. Otherwise, data may be destroyed. ●Use a battery with sufficient battery power or the AC adaptor (optional) and DC coupler (optional). ●When the battery begins to run out during communication, a warning beep \ sounds. 313 Connecting with other devices Storing recorded still pictures and motion pictures in the recorder Copying by inserting the card into the recorder You can copy pictures using Panasonic equipment (such as Blu-ray disc recorders) with support for each file format. •The method of importing still pictures and motion pictures recorded in this unit to other devices will vary depending on the file format (JPEG, RA W, AVCHD, or MP4). • You cannot copy 4K burst files (MP4 format) with [Aspect Ratio] set to \ an option other than [16:9] to hard disk drives, including those of Panasonic recorders \ compatible with import of 4K motion pictures. (As of July 2015) • See the instruction manual for the recorder for details for copying and \ playing back. Dubbing with non-compatible equipment You can dub the content played back using this unit to non-compatible equ\ ipment such as recorders and video players by connecting this unit to the non-compat\ ible equipment using an AV cable (optional). Non-compatible equipment will be able to play back\ the content. This is convenient if you wish to pass around dubbed content. In this ca\ se, the content will be played back in standard rather than high-definition pict\ ure quality. 1Connect camera to recorder • Check the plug direction and insert it straight in. (If the cable is in\ serted in the wrong direction, the plug could become deformed and cause faulty operation) Also, do not insert into the wrong socket. Doing so may cause damage to this unit. [AV OUT/DIGITAL] socket AV cable (optional)To recorder’s input socket 2Start playback on camera 3Start recording on recorder • To stop recording (dubbing), stop the recording on your recorder first \ before stopping the playback on the camera. ●Always use a genuine Panasonic AV cable (DMW-AVC1: optional). ●When using a TV with a 4:3 aspect ratio, always change the camera’s [TV Aspect] setting (→70) to [4:3] before dubbing. Motion pictures copied in the [16:9] setting will appear vertically stretched when viewed on a 4:3 TV screen. ●For details on dubbing and playback methods, refer to your recorder’s operating instructions. 314 Connecting with other devices Printing You can connect directly to a PictBridge-compatible printer for printing.\ Preparations • Adjust the print quality or other settings on your printer, as needed. • T urn on the camera and printer. 1Connect camera to printer • Turn the camera monitor toward you. • Check the plug direction and insert it straight in. (If the cable is in\ serted in the wrong direction, the plug could become deformed and cause faulty operation) Also, do not insert into the wrong socket. Doing so may cause damage to this unit. • Do not use any other USB connection cables except the supplied one or a \ genuine Panasonic USB connection cable (DMW -USBC1: optional). Using cables other than the above may cause a malfunction. Align the marks, and insert. 315 Connecting with other devices Printing Printing multiple pictures Multiple pictures are printed at one time. 1Press to select [Multi Print] in step 3 (→314) 2Use to select the item and press [MENU/SET] •[Multi Select]:Scroll between pictures with , select pictures to print with the [MENU/SET] (Press [MENU/SET] again to release selection.) Use to select [OK], and press [MENU/SET] • [ Select All]: Print all pictures. •[Print Set (DPOF)]: Print pictures selected in [Print Set]. (→ 253) •[Favorite]: Print pictures selected as [Favorite]. (→ 252) 3Use to select [Print start] and press [MENU/SET](Print settings (→317)) ●The group pictures are displayed one by one instead of all pictures at t\ he same time. ●Disconnect USB connection cable (supplied) after printing. ●Use a battery with sufficient battery power or the AC adaptor (optional) and DC coupler (optional). Cancel printing and disconnect USB connection cable (supplied). ●Before connecting or disconnecting the AC adaptor (optional), turn the camera off. ●Before inserting or removing a card, turn the camera off and disconnect the USB connection cable. ●Some printers can print directly from the camera’s memory card. For details, see the manual for your printer. ●An orange “●” displayed during printing indicates an error message. ●When printing a large number of pictures, the remaining sheets display may differ from the number of pictures set for printing. ●Motion pictures and 4K burst files cannot be printed. ●Still pictures recorded in a RAW file cannot be printed. (The still pictures recorded in JPEG file format at the same time as the RAW file can be printed.) SQW0419

316 Connecting with other devices Printing Printing with date and text Time and date can be set to be printed on the picture when taking the pic\ ture by activating the [Text Stamp] function in the [Playback] menu. (→246) ■Printing date without [Text Stamp] Printing in store: Only recording date can be printed. Request date printing in store. • Making [Print Set] (→ 253) settings on the camera in advance allows settings for numbers of copies and date printing to be designated before giving the c\ ard to the store. • Y ou cannot request a store to print the characters entered for [Age] or [Name] of [Profile Setup] or [Face Recog.], [Travel Date], [Location], and [Title Edit]. Using computer: Print settings for recording date and text information can be made using\ “PHOTOfunSTUDIO” software on the supplied DVD. Using printer: Recording date can be printed by setting [Print Set] on the camera, or by setting [Print with Date] (→317) to [ON] when connecting to a printer compatible with date printing. SQW0419

(The still picture is printed with the date superimposed on it.) ●In some printers, dates for pictures taken with the aspect ratio set to \ [1:1] will be printed vertically. ●Items may not be displayed if incompatible with printer. ●To print to paper sizes/layouts not supported by this camera, set to [ ] and make settings on the printer . (Consult your printer’s operating manual.) ●Even with completed [Print Set] settings, dates may not be printed, depending on the shop or \ printer used. SQW0419

318 OthersOptional accessories Conversion Lens (optional) With the optional conversion lenses, you can record even more faraway pi\ ctures and take close-up pictures of smaller subjects. Set the [Rec] menu after mounting the lens. ■Mounting the conversion lens Preparation Remove the lens cap and lens hood. Attach the lens adaptor • Rotate the lens adaptor slowly and carefullyAttach the tele conversion lens • Close-up lens (DMW -LC55: optional) can be attached in a similar manner. 319 Others Optional accessories ■Set the [Rec] menu Recording mode: Turn on the camera and set the menu → [Rec] → [Conversion] When you attach the tele conversion lens. When you attach the close-up lens. [OFF] — Press to select [ ]/[ ], and press [MENU/SET] to set •Do not cover the air vent (shown below) with your finger or any other \ object. The sound of air passing through may be heard from the air vent. This is\ not a malfunction. • Always set to [OFF] when the conversion lens is taken of f. Example: How to hold the camera during handheld recording when the tele \ conversion lens is attached Air vent ●Lens adaptor (optional) is needed to use the conversion lens. ●Do not use with anything other than DMW-LC55 or DMW-LT55. ●MC protector (optional) or ND filters (optional) cannot be used toge\ ther with the conversion lens. Remove them before attaching the conversion lens. ●When using the tele conversion lens: • We recommend using a tripod. • The Stabilizer function may not work suf ficiently. • The focus indication may light due to the jitter even if the subject is \ not focused. • The time required for focusing may become longer than usual. ●Refer to the operating instructions of the conversion lens for further d\ etails. 320 Others Optional accessories Filter (optional) PL filter (DMW-LPL52: optional) will suppress the reflected light from a metal or non\ spherical surfaces (flat non-metallic surfaces, water vapor or invisibl\ e particles in the air), making it possible to take a picture with enhanced contrast. The ND filter (DMW-LND52: optional) reduces the amount of light to approximately 1/8th (equal to adjusting the aperture value 3 increments) without affecting the color balance. The MC protector (DMW-LMC52: optional) is a transparent filter which affects neither the colors nor the amount of light, so it can always be used to protect the \ camera’s lens. ●Do not attach multiple filters at the same time. ●If the filter is tightened too much, you may not be able to remove it. D\ o not tighten it too much. ●If the filter is dropped, it may be destroyed. Be careful not to drop it\ when attaching it to the camera. ●Be careful not to get a fingerprint, dirt, etc., on the filter when it i\ s attached, otherwise the focus may be adjusted to the lens, resulting in the subject being out of focus\ . ●Refer to the operating instructions for each filter for details.
