    Buttons/Dials/Levers Used for Recording
     ■Automatic switching between viewfinder and monitor
    For automatic switching between the viewfinder and monitor, the eye sensor 
    automatically switches the display to viewfinder when your eye or an obj\
    ect moves 
    close to the viewfinder.
     • The eye sensor may not work correctly depending on the shape of your eye\
    glasses, the way you hold the camera, or whether the eyepiece and nearby area are\
     exposed 
    to strong light. In this case, press the [
    
    LV F] button to switch the display.
     • During motion picture playback or Slide Show
    
    , the eye sensor will not automatically 
    switch the display to the viewfinder.
    Setting the sensitivity of the eye sensor or setting to switch the 
    display between the viewfinder and monitor
     →  [Custom] → [Eye Sensor]
    [Sensitivity] Use this setting to set the sensitivity of the eye sensor.
    [HIGH] / [LOW]
    [LVF/Monitor Switch] Use this setting to switch the display between the viewfinder and monito\
    r.
    [LVF/MON AUTO] (Automatic switching between viewfinder and 
    monitor) / [
    LV F] (Viewfinder display) / [MON] (Monitor display)
     • After the display is switched using the [ LV
    
    F] button, the setting of [LVF/
    Monitor Switch] will also change.
    Adjusting/not adjusting the focus automatically when the eye sensor 
    is activated
     →  [Custom] → [Eye Sensor AF] → [ON] / [OFF]
     • Even when [
    
    Eye  Sensor AF] is set and the camera automatically adjusts the focus, a 
    beep will not sound.
     • [
    
    Eye  Sensor AF] may not work when the lighting is low.

    Touch screen (Touch operations)
    Touch screen of this unit is capacitive. Touch the panel directly with your bare finger.
    TouchTo touch and release the touch screen. Be sure to touch 
    the center of the desired icon.
    DragTo touch and slide your finger across the touch screen. 
    This can also be used to forward or rewind a picture during 
    playback, etc.
    Pinch (spread/pinch)On the touch screen, spread (pinch out) your 2 fingers to 
    zoom in, and pinch (pinch in) your 2 fingers to zoom out.
    Enabling/disabling the touch operation
     →  [Custom] → [Touch Settings]
    [Touch Screen]All touch operations. When set to [OFF], only button and dial operations\
     
    can be used.

     ●Touch the screen with the clean and dry finger. ●If you use a commercially available monitor protection sheet, please fol\
    low the instructions that 
    accompany the sheet. (Some monitor protection sheets may impair visibil\
    ity or operability.)
     ●Do not press on the monitor with hard pointed tips, such as ballpoint pe\
    ns. ●Do not press the touch screen with your fingernails. ●Clean the monitor with a soft, dry cloth if there are fingerprints or ot\
    her kinds of dirt on it. ●Do not scratch or press the monitor too hard. ●The touch screen may not function normally in the following cases. • When touched by a gloved hand • When the touch screen is wet • When touched by multiple hands or fingers at the same time

    Touching the screen and recording (Touch Shutter function)
    Recording mode: 
    This function enables you to focus and record still pictures simply by t\
    ouching the 
    subjects that appear on the screen.

    2Touch [  ] • The icon changes to [  ] and you can now proceed with touch 
    shutter recording.
    3Touch the subject you want to record • To release the touch shutter function → Touch [  ].
     ●If shooting with the touch shutter fails, the AF area turns red and disappears. ●Measurement of brightness is performed on the spot touched when the [Metering Mode] (→158) is 
    set to [  ]. At the edge of the screen, the metering may be affected by the brightness around the 
    touched location.

    Easily Optimizing the Brightness for a Specified Area  
    ([Touch AE])
    Recording mode: 
    You can easily optimize the brightness for a touched position. When the f\
    ace of the 
    subject appears dark, you can brighten the screen according to the brightness of the face.

    2Touch [  ] • The setting screen for the brightness optimization position is displayed.
     • [Metering Mode] is set to [  ], which is used exclusively for the

    Touch AE].
    3Touch the subject you want to optimize the brightness

    You can use the menu to set camera and recording functions, operate playb\
    ack functions, 
    and perform other operations.
    In this Owner’s Manual, steps for setting a menu item are described as follows:
    Example:  To change the [Quality] setting from [  ] to [  ] in the [Rec] menu
     →  [Rec] → [Quality] → [  ]
    How to set the menu
    You can set the menus using two types of operation—touch operations in\
     which you 
    touch the screen, and button operations in which you press the cursor bu\
    tton and rotate 
    the side dial and rear dial.
     • The menu types and items that are displayed vary according to the mode. • The setting methods vary depending on the menu item.
    1Press [MENU/SET] to bring up the menu
    [Rec]
    (→336) You can perform settings for the aspect ratio, number of pixels, 4K 
    Photo, etc.
    [Motion Picture]
    (→337)You can select the recording format and picture quality and other 
    settings.
    [Custom]
    (→338)Operation of the unit, such as displaying of the screen and button 
    operations, can be set up according to your preferences. Also, it is 
    possible to register the modified settings.
    [Setup]
    (→339)You can perform settings that make usage more convenient, such 
    as the changing the clock settings and beep volume. You can also 
    perform Wi-Fi function-related settings.
    [Playback]
    (→339)You can specify picture protection, cropping, print settings, and other 
    settings for pictures you have taken.

    You can easily call some of the menu items and set them. • Some items or settings can not be selected depending on the mode or disp\
    lay style the camera is in.
    You can operate the [Q.MENU  ] button/[Fn3] button in two ways, using it either as 
    the [Q.MENU] or as a function button [Fn3].
    You can use this button as the [Q.MENU
      ] button at the time of purchase. • For details on the function button, refer to (→ 61).

    When [Q.MENU] in the [Custom] menu is set to [CUSTOM] (above), the Quick Menu can

    the bottom row.

    o cancel the setting, move to the bottom row by pressing

    select an item to cancel, and then press [MENU/SET].
    4Press [Q.MENU  ] button • It will return to screen of step 1. Press [MENU/SET] to switch to the recording screen.
