     ●Motion pictures with their file size set to [FHD], [HD] or [VGA] in [MP4]:  Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 29 minutes and 59 seconds or the 
    file size exceeds 4 GB. • Since the file size becomes larger with [FHD], recording with [FHD] will stop before 29 minutes 
    59 seconds. ●Motion pictures with their file size set to [4K] in [MP4]: 
    Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 29 minutes 59 seconds. (Y ou can 
    continue recording without interruption even if the file exceeds 4
     GB, but the motion picture file will 
    be recorded and played back in separate files.)
     ●The maximum available continuous recording time is displayed on the scre\
    en.
    Switching the display between the number of recordable pictures

    Opening the Monitor/Adjusting the Monitor
    1Place your finger in the cleft on the 
    right side of the monitor and open the 
    monitor toward the left side (maximum 
    180°)
    2It can be rotated 180° to the direction 
    of the lens
    3Return the monitor to its original 
    position
     •Only rotate the monitor after opening it wide enough, and be careful not\
     to use 
    excessive force. Doing so may cause damage to this unit.
    Free angle shooting
    The monitor can be rotated to suit your needs. This is convenient as it allows you to take 
    pictures from various angles by adjusting the monitor.
     • Do not block the 
    
    AF Assist Lamp with your fingers or other objects.

    Preparations
    Setting the clock
    The clock is not set when the camera is shipped.
    1Turn the camera on
     • The status indicator lights up when you turn this unit on.
     • If the language select screen is not displayed, proceed to step 4.
    2Press [MENU/SET] while the message is 
    displayed
    3Press   to select the language, and press [MENU/SET]
     • The [Please set the clock] message appears.
    4Press [MENU/SET]
    5Press   to select the items (year, 
    month, day, hour, minute), and press 
      
    to set
    To set the display order or time display format • Select [Style] and press [MENU/SET] to display the 
    setting screen for display order and time display 
    format.

    BasicsHolding the camera
    Hold the camera gently with both hands keeping your arms close to your b\
    ody 
    while standing with your feet slightly apart.
     • Do not block the flash, 
    
    AF Assist Lamp, microphone, or speaker with your fingers 
    or other objects.
     • Make sure that the camera does not move at the moment the shutter button\
     is pressed. • Be sure to remove the lens cap when recording. • Make sure your footing is stable and there is no danger of colliding wit\
    h another person  or object in the vicinity while taking pictures.

     • Do not hold the lens barrel as you take pictures.  There is a risk that your finger will 
    be trapped as the lens retracts.
     ■About the direction detect function
    Still pictures recorded with the camera held vertically can 
    be automatically displayed in portrait orientation during 
    playback. (Only when [Rotate Disp.] is set to [ON].)
     • The direction detect function may not operate correctly if  pictures are taken with the camera pointing up or down.
     • Motion pictures and 4K burst files recorded with the 4K Photo function are not displayed vertically

    Zoom Lever/Side Lever (Use Zoom)
    You can adjust the area of a picture to be taken using the zoom or side l\
    ever. • When using the Viewfinder to take pictures, if you perform zoom operation using the 
    side lever, the camera can be kept stable, thus reducing jitters effectively.

    Shutter button (Taking pictures)
     • Press the [  ] button (  ) to set the drive mode to [  ] ([Single]).
    1Press the shutter button halfway (press lightly) to 
    focus on the subject
     • The aperture value and shutter speed are displayed. (If the aperture value and shutter speed are shown in red and flashing, 
    you do not have the appropriate exposure, unless you are using 
    the flash.)

    Focus range is displayed when operating the zoom
     • The focus range is displayed in red when it is not focused 
    after pressing the shutter button halfway
