Applicable modes: 
Taking Pictures with Manual Focus
Use this function when you want to fix the focus or when the distance between the lens 
and the subject is determined and you do not want to activate Auto Focus.
Press [AF/AF #/MF] to display the focus 
switching screen.
Press  3/4 to select [MF] and then press 
[MENU/SET].
•To cancel, select [AF].•[MF] is displayed in the upper left of the screen while 
in Manual Focus Mode.

∫MF Assist
If [MF ASSIST]  (P54) in the [SETUP] menu is set to [ON], when focus is achieved, the MF 
area (locations that are in focus) is enlarged.
•
If you press [MENU/SET] while MF Assist is displayed, the MF area can be moved using 
3/ 4/2 /1. Pressing [MENU/SET] again returns the camera to MF Assist.
•Performing the following operation returns the MF area to the center.–Changing the picture size or aspect.–Turning the camera off.

Taking Pictures with the Self-Timer
Note
•When you press the shutter button once fully, the subject is automatically focused just before 
recording. In dark places, the Self-timer indi cator will blink and then may turn on brightly 
operating as an AF Assist Lamp to allow the camera to focus on the subject.

Setting the Light Sensitivity
This allows the sensitivity to light (ISO sensitivity) to be set. Setting to a higher figure 
enables pictures to be taken even in dark plac es without the resulting pictures coming out 
dark.

∫About [ ] (Intelligent ISO sensitivity control)
The camera 
detects movement of the subject and then automatically sets the optimum ISO 
sensitivity and shutter speed to suit the movement of the subject and brightness of the 
scene to minimize the jitter of the subject.
•
The shutter speed is not fixed when the shutter button is pressed halfway. It is continuously 
changing to match the movement of the subject until the shutter button is pressed fully.
